Unfortunately that wouldn't solve the problem, as the functions are locked to coordinates, which would change, if you increase the space between (whether you do that by resizing, or adding space).

There's also the problem with the engin being unable to handle angles and lines, of such small values, and some of the models using percentages of certain parts' values, to determine the values of other parts, which can only go to so many decimal places.

It's best not to forget that there isn't just blank space, beyond the edge of the map - there's a multitude of dungeons, with their own blocking spaces, curtains, effects, lighting, textures, height mapping, level partitioning, coordinates, cutscenes, and so on (all of these tied to the grid).

On top of that, may of the different areas have different spawn values, or permanence, and there are whole areas of different forms of spawn-on-demand, with their own subset of rules, and limitations, which are all coded differently, due to different engines, developers, and constraints.

Given the game is already a patchwork of different coding, and jumbled stuff, it wouldn't really be helpful, even if possible, to shoe-horn in some areas, coded in a different way, between established areas (splitting the grid, and adding exceptions, if that's even possible - and by possible, I mean possible, regardless of time taken).

Expanding the map is the 2nd thing on the list of updates I'd most love to see (after an overhaul of the Minigames system, to reward play, not presence/boosting), and I'd love it if they could make it of the scale where 1 mountain would take up the same space as the entire map currently does (and there be 1,000s of mountains - as well as everything else in the game), but the amount of work makes it unlikely to happen, without a complete game remake, from scratch (which I'd like, but they'd never go with making the same game, they'd do something like a 1st person action game, set in Gielinor, instead..).

I had real hopes that they'd make the procedurally-generated areas in the Arc, permanent, once spawned, so that you could navigate between them, in an actual 'world' setting, but they either couldn't or had no wish to do that.

Exploring content requires a lot of development, for value that is intangible, or unquantifiable, despite it bringing a lot to the game, so they can't attach a figure to it, and thus don't count it as a positive.

A lot of the work involved in map expansion would be a grind, and a delicate process to avoid bugs. It's something I'd be willing to do, if I had the tools, and a reasonable degree of autonomy (so I knew where mistakes came from, and how to correct them, as well as not being tied to doing it in a way that didn't work), but they would never give someone that, within the working structure - thus it would be impossible for them to get someone to do the job, even amongst those they would hire.

They have frequently said things whenever they launch a new engine (openly), or do a major game advancement, which are worded in such a way to imply that they recode the game, from scratch, whenever they do this. However, they obviously don't do that (or at least have huge elements of copy-paste-equivalent), because if they did, then it would be the perfect opportunity to do a map expansion (and the reasons they give for not being able to do it, are things which imply the opposite of what they say about these re-codes).
