With the Mega May update, Megatha Christie's desk was introduced. Sitting on it is a globe of the world of Gielinor. I think this may be about the first time we've seen a spherical projection of Runescape? It's interesting to note that there is ocean between Morytania and Tirranwn, with nothing else in between. I believe the Eastern Lands are somewhere in this sea (can't quite see them on the globe), but it appears as though there is nothing else.

Is this globe complete, do you think? If so, then the "Eastern" lands could also be accessed west of the Elven lands... and it would appear to rule out the possibility of any further continents.

It's interesting to note that Acheron does not appear to be on the globe as far as I can tell, and that the Kharidian desert appears to extend to the southernmost point of the globe (i.e south pole). Does that mean that the tilt of the planet is such that the sun hits the southern areas much more than the northern ones? This could help explain the coldness of the North, and the lack of sunlight in areas such as Forinthry and Morytania....

Ya know, I wouldn't read too much into this. It could very well just be a globe of the known world. Not to say no one knows of other continents/archipelagos, so maybe just the well known world. We've seen it often enough in the real world.

No, I think the globe is far from complete, but with any luck it'll show what is generally known the Gielinor public. I'd also say that islands have been missed off.

I'd go as far as saying it is a low resolution map of the the surface world map from the game wrapped around in a ball.

I agree that it's probably just a map of the generally known Gielinor, and that islands were probably left off, especially the lesser known ones.
The idea of Gielinor being round is interesting though.. in all likelihood, it IS round, as seen in the Tuska Event.

You do know that you can build globes/orreries in your poh study?
these are mock ups of the planet (even a mini solar system with the highest level orrery)

then again, since this is Meg's globe, she probably made it herself, and the whole thing is inaccurate.
some of those "islands" are probably just dried blood stains when she somehow managed to cut a major artery while painting it.
She might have Kandarin and Karamja mixed up.
There's probably even a bunny sticker on there.

It's interesting that we have globes, but apparently nobody has bothered attempting circumnavigation (or any other dedicated exploratory endeavor). Suppose we do have more pressing matters, though.

Have to say that personally, I would be extremely interested in exploring the rest of Gielinor.

Well, Ferdinand Magellan's expedition was, according to W*kiped*a, from 1519 to 1522... And we're still in medieval times. So give it 19 more years at the minimum, I guess?

The Wise Old Man has had a globe at his place for some time. But yes, there's been very little indication elsewhere that Gielinor is round.

Yeah. Very little indication.

Except for Origins of Gielinor, which shows us that it's a near-perfect sphere.
