So if you've done the Rivers of Blood quest you've "reformed" the Sunspear using the blade you got off Draken, a new shaft created by yourself, and wolfbane.

At first this seems to make sense given everything we know. Talking with Kara-Meir with the sunspear (sword) heavily implies that you have one blade of the sunspear and Kara-Meir got a sunspear (dagger) and that these were once part of the same spear.

So the fabled dagger of the sunspear is none other than Wolfbane, right? Well that doesn't exactly make much sense.

One, because even though Wolfbane is silver and could kill a vampire, could such a weapon actually have killed the Black Prince by itself? In addition, Kara-Meir doesn't say she used sunspear and that it's a dagger, she says that she HAS sunspear and that it looks familiar to the Sunspear (Sword) we have. Obviously, if the second part of sunspear was Wolfbane it would be impossible for Kara-Meir to still own it, not to mention it looks nothing like Sunspear (sword).

So does this mean there was two sunspears? Does this mean that wolfbane is not actually the true end of Sunspear and we could conceivably get Kara-Meir to part with her end of the spear to truly reform it?

We used our Wolfbane dagger as a substitute for the actual missing silver spikes.

And why would you want to replace Wolfbane with the actual end? Not only would that mean trying to convince stubborn Kara'meir to part with her piece, but also you'd no longer get Wolfbane's effect on werewolves when using it. Not really worth the hassle.

Call me when you find a werewolf worth using that on.

The part that Kara-Meir used to kill Tenebra is a blisterwood dagger and it's not wolfbane. Wolfbane (the one we got from Drezel) possibly has a unique history, but it is not unique in its effects.
The strength of the pack is the wolf and the strength of the wolf is the pack.

You're bringing the books into the game.
I have nothing to say with regards to the books, so I'll just say this:

The books remain true until something in the game says otherwise, at which point game overwrites book.
A
World Guardian
must learn to find
Balance
in themselves.
Only then can they
Control
themselves and forge their own
Fate.

We know Kara had it.
Whether or not she still has it, Mod Stu and Rowl*y said in the Q&A that it's likely a no.
Their comment is that it is probably at the bottom of The Salve.

I'm not sure if adding the back piece would make that much of a difference on the full weapon.

It's not like it was the last piece of a magical circuit that needed everything just right to get it working again.

Wolfbane Dagger is close enough to the original function, and it acts as enough of a counterwieght on the shaft to complete the Spear, which is what we really needed in the first place.

On the other side of it, if either Kara Meir (or 1 of her friends) still has the piece OR if it is somewhat misplaced, that there is another potential semi-legendary weapon lying around to slay Vampyres beyond Blisterwood weapons, is one more thing to keep the Vampyres in check.

Well, there is the potential eventual werewolf spinoff, where Wolfbane could get some more uses.

Are we all sure wolfbane is not the original end? During the quest, after she informs the player about the dual spikes. You can ask her here about the dual silver spikes, you ask her if the spikes happened to have powers over werewolves. To wich she replies that the dual spikes could prevent werewolfs from turing into they're wolf form. sounds like a wolfbane to me. Tho it may have been a different wolfbane dagger.
