Your hunting experience just got better, as you can now open chests to collect three Hunter themed outfits and combine them to make the elite Volcanic Trapper outfit. They’ll be available on Treasure Hunter from 00:00 UTC on 23rd August to 23:59 UTC on 28th August, so complete your set while you can!

How do I get the outfits?

Similarly to previous versions of the elite skilling outfits, there are three five-piece tradeable outfits to collect over this week:

  • Desert Trapper Outfit

  • Jungle Trapper Outfit

  • Arctic Trapper Outfit

One outfit will be available on each of the first three days, so check back to get a different one. All outfits will be available for the final three days.

Equivalent pieces from the three outfits can be combined into pieces of the elite version: The Volcanic Trapper outfit. Besides being a sharp look, it also gives you a range of amazing benefits for your Hunter training.

What are the benefits?

Wear five matching pieces of any of the basic outfits to enjoy the following:

  • 5% increase to hunting success rate

  • Auto-reapplying of Juju Hunter potion in Herblore Habitat

  • Increased chance of rarer charm sprites from Yaktwee

  • 3 daily teleports to Hunter locations

Wearing the elite Volcanic Trapper outfit in its entirety gives an expanded list of benefits:

  • 7% increase to hunting success rate

  • 10% chance of double loot

  • Can deploy an extra trap (maximum of 6)

  • Increased conversion rate for Big Chinchompa reward points

  • Chance to instantly deploy/pick up traps

  • Chance of double loot from implings (3 per day)

  • Works as a hunter's catalyst fragment if owned

  • Auto-reapplying of Juju Hunter potion in Herblore Habitat

  • Increased chance of rarer charm sprites from Yaktwee

  • 5 daily teleports to hunter locations

Note that any of the four outfits above will also confer the benefits of the base Hunter’s outfit, if owned.

Keep in mind that any updates from the past 6 months that affect your Hunter training won’t be useable with the Trapper outfits until 6 months after their release. For example, teleports to crystal skillchompas and plover birds will only appear 6 months after their respective release dates.

Enjoy!

If these were the benefits increasing outfits you’ve been hunting for all your life, this is your lucky week. Have fun!

What is Treasure Hunter?

Treasure Hunter is playable from within RuneScape, allowing players to use Keys to claim in-game items as prizes. These range from useful resources to rare weapons and exclusive gear.

Playing Treasure Hunter is simple - click the treasure chest icon that pops up when you log in. If you've not played before, just follow the on-screen guide.

Everyone gets at least one Key per day, and RuneScape members get two. You can earn more Keys while playing the game, or stock up by redeeming Bonds.

If you'd like more, you can also buy Keys on the website, or by clicking 'Buy Keys' within the Treasure Hunter interface in-game.

The thing I hate about the elite outfits is that they're all-or-nothing. If you don't get a full outfit--well, you'll just have to wait a year or two until they get released as fragments, and then spend dozens of hours getting them that way. It's basically mandatory to drop $50-100 on keys to get this.

Seriously?

Couldn't keep to things you can obtain in the game?

Releasing sets with special effects
AGAIN?

And who wants to bet that it's impossible to get all the pieces of every set before the event timer runs out unless you buy keys?

We don't need more Pay2Win Jagex.

Honestly, and I say this as someone whose spent vastly more on this game than he cares to admit - but even I find this distasteful now.

Good outfit I guess, but I'll be skipping this. Shame too, could have used it since my hunter level is so low.

I'm hoping this means fragments will be coming out for these outfits, because there's no way I'll be able to get even one complete set with the keys I've been hoarding.

Please please please, release fragments for skilling sets BEFORE the set comes out... I'm sure I would have all the fragments to make my own set if fragments had come out earlier.

Draco will be in here soon to tell everyone they need to like "Pay2Win-Scape" or quit.

This game has reached a gravitational singularity. There is no doing without micro-transactions.

Well... there could be. But not for Runescape.
As old school as a player can be.

As long as there is an alternate form of obtaining this IE: Fragments that are released soon I do not see an issue. However offering an in game advantage to someone who has more real life money is distasteful.

I'm not against implementing fragments at all for this outfit, however I wouldn't hold my breath that it would be anytime soon, I could be wrong though!

On another note and a friendly FYI, the last Elite Skilling Outfit promotion; it ran me about $50 (200 Keys) or less to complete one Elite Skilling Outfit. (Starting with 0 pieces.)

I wish you the best and hope they implement fragments soon!

For anyone wondering: In the post they made about Elite Skilling Outfits they said they would also make any future elite skilling outfit obtainable ingame, but it will take at least 4 months for it to happen. So most likely longer than that.
