So, I'm a Deputy Owner of a new clan just starting out, and I'm wondering if there's any ways to get a clan started. I've been part of clans before that never make it past Tier 2, and that's fine but no one wants to cap to help the Citadel grow.

I find that for newer clans just starting out, it's nearly impossible to compete when you have Clans that have Tier 7's and don't require capping. Is there any tips anyone could give to help a new clan just starting out?

People don't stay in clans for Tier or amount of people(Well.. To an extent, some do, but most stay because they enjoy the community), but that doesn't mean it's not possible. I'm in the same boat, but I'm optimistic I can get things done, so it's not an issue. The real question here is, "Can I build a clan from scratch provided I put the effort in?" I'll find the answer for you myself, but it's absolutely possible. What tips can I give you? Be involved with your community. That's all I can say.

Best of luck.

My best advice would be to work on forming a solid foundation for your clan before you focus too much on building up your Citadel. Personally, I do not require capping in my Clan, and we are currently Tier 7 in progress on our Dragon.

When I was recruited, we averaged 5-6 cappers per week (if we were lucky), totaled ~410 members, and were constantly going back and forth between periods of dilapidated Citadels until one point we got locked out completely from lack of visitors.

Once we built up a loyal member base, the Citadel resources came in without much effort, just constant reminders that Citadel reset was coming up and leading by example capping every week myself. Two years later, we finally achieved a T7 Citadel and an average of 40-50 cappers per week. It has now been roughly one year since then, and we still have 30-40 cappers per week.

We have never required anyone to use our Citadel, and have no intentions of enforcing that. So, you need to decide which is more of a priority in getting your clan started, focusing on building up your Citadel, or building up a loyal, active member base.

Best of luck, hope this helps :)

As the others have said, the citadel is nice. but not the reason people stay in a clan. Make sure you decide on the purpose of your clan - and work towards having the right environment to attract those types of players. Social/pvm/skilling/mini games/whatever. The community feel of the clan is what will make people stay.

Once your member based builds up and people feel a sense of loyalty to the clan, they will be happier to help out at the citadel for the clans benefit. Always lead by example - have your highest ranks make sure to cap, then at the least you can maintain a low level citadel for the avatar bonus.

My clan is a community clan, and initially we had mandatory capping. which did lose us some members early on, but I was honest from the start with what we required and over time people stayed. Now we are 2 cosmetics away from a fully maxed out citadel/cosmetics and we now have over 40-50 people capping every week - thats a third of the clan., with capping being purely voluntary. The key is perseverance, don't try to run before you can walk. Be prepared to work hard and play hard, and even with baby steps you can get there!

Best of luck !
