Masterwork also requires 99 smithing, 90 mining, and dozens of hours of gameplay to make.

It's far easier to hit 70 str and smack things for a few hours to buy malev.

Why not both actually? Have bosses drop components, which have to be assembled with high artisan levels and raw components stemming from gathering skills? Trimmed masterwork is the perfect template for this to be honest.
Because that devalues PvM drops. Alexraptor said:

KQ says hi.

How is a PvM drop devalued if it is actually needed to create the BiS equipment (or well just stuff equivalent to what the boss should offer)? Torva made a good plus ever since the update (weirdly despite the fact it is weaker than regular masterwork), Malevolent did that as well (also weirdly despite the fact it is way more inconvenient to use than regular masterwork). Or are you ranting because stuff like bandos wasn't included in masterwork smithing?
Improvements: Tooltip / (F2P) QoL v2
Quick Fixes: Invention

KQ was not even introduced until Runescape 2.

Well PvM dropped armour ruined player made equipment over 10 years ago, so wasn't it about time they fixed their mistake?

Thought I was the only one who felt like this.

Being able to supply yourself with viable gear without having to jump through flaming hoops every scaping second of the day? Sign me up for that. I'm a casual, I guess. I'd take my 90+ combat and gear to cwars or soul wars if they weren't dead and be completely satisfied.

Thanks jamflax for this one

I agree with both of you. There are many ways to play RuneScape and PVM has been the center of attention for far too long. Why is there a combat council but not a skilling council? Good to see some balance back in the game. Now for some mage and range gear...

Masterwork needed to be released. As we needed an alternate route to endgame gear outside of "just buy it" (although you still need to sacrifice malevolent and torva to trim it). Plus we finally have a good reason to want to get 99 smithing outside of getting the skill/max cape. Which is something too many skills lack currently.

Not to mention this could provide a potential gateway to said high level pvm.
The statement below is false.
The statement above is true.

Trim masterwork is tradable so you can still just buy it.

No - if you argue like this torva likely ruined bandos, which itself ruined whatever was worn before that - continue the sequence until you've reached adamant if you want.

To be honest: Masterwork is one of best concepted armours. It is a dumb idea having everything on an entirely linear path, but incorporating torva and malevolent into trimmed masterwork was grandious. If torva was ruined it should be worth less than pernix/virtus now - right?

I completely agree with your statement!

I'm aware of that but before this update the only way to obtain endgame armour is to do high level pvm or just buy it. Now however you can use your skills to obtain this armour which is the alternative way I was talking about it.
