Forgive me if this is in the wrong forum topic. Does anyone anticipate or have any idea as to when these will bottom out? Smithing is quite literally not worth the time anymore to turn any kind of profit with prices crashing as hard as they are. Glorious are already under 3m per bar. Will it rebound at all or have Jagex significantly underestimated the tenacity of our miners and smithers in the game?
Even when it was at its all time low Torva is now worth more than a Masterwork chest-plate even factoring in time.

The issue isn't the skilling community, this update is literally aimed at them.
But it's figuring out how to turn off PVM'ers from just making their own sets or maintaining their own trimmed masterwork sets - an added bonus is it'll also turn off some skillers too.
I cut 121k willow trees legitimately more than a decade ago back when that was the fastest method at getting 99 woodcutting, I smelted 61k gold bars to get to 90 smithing and also mined all the gold ore I used to make those bars - the only way they'd turn off most skillers is by making it a ridiculous amount of bars (10k+).
But at that point it really does start getting ridiculous. Jagex just needs to go back to the drawing board and figure out a revolving door that makes trimmed masterwork the end goal but making it so that standard masterwork is the only way to maintain it. Bars are going to go up and down regardless of what's done, it's the items that you'll want to be making for profit.

Definitely. The end tier ore is worth less than half of what runite used to be. They've really screwed the pooch on this update. How could they not anticipate the huge flood of people that would suddenly start mining these ore now that they're afkable? The market is so saturated I don't think there's any way to fix it any time soon.
Niyahsaid: Yep, Masterwork will only continue to go down in price, as far as I can see. Unless Jagex makes changes.
If that happens then masterwork is effectively made pointless and is an insult to those of us who go out of our way to make it in order to sell it to people who can't be arsed to make it themselves - which means no one will bother making it.
Masterwork must be profitable to those who make it otherwise no one is going to waste all that amount of time to make it for mere scraps. It doesn't give any exp for that precise reason, but if it also doesn't sell for a respectable amount of money it won't be made full stop.
