While I think the stone spirit idea is phenomenal, in it's current state I think it's a bit rigid.

I think an easy fix hypothetically would be to implement some sort of exchange or conversion, converting lower tier spirits into higher ones in great numbers or higher ones into lower ones.

It would allow for drop tables to be somewhat more balanced without having to change them entirely, and would give miners the freedom to use the spirits as they need them. I wanted tin spirits earlier cause I'm impatient but couldn't buy them for 3 times the price on ge.

Speaking of the ge, 100 spirits every 4 hours is asinine.

Wasn't one of the points of the mining and smithing rework to take the mining and smithing drops off of the high level bosses? And in my view rightly so.

Yet the fact that Telos, Yakamaru and Araxxor seem to be having a contest amongst themselves to see who can drop the highest amount of low level stone spirits, kinda defeats the purpose.

Some method of converting/transmuting the overly-generous amounts of low level spirits that the bosses are handing out like crazy, into something useful/valuable would be nice. Or failing that, remove the low level stone spirit drops from the boss drop tables altogether.

Agreed. Part of the problem is that the bosses were dropping relatively high tier resources, and are now dropping much lower tier production speed buffs. I certainly see where they were coming from with the idea, but it obviously was not well thought out, and could do with some significant revisions.

I did not play in the beta, so I have to ask - how did these make it through that? =P

Trading them would be a good idea. Bit more flexible than just changing drop tables. either way I'd get a lot more use out of 100 luminite stone spirits than 1000 coal ones.

And yeah, obviously increase the trade limit. Not sure what they were thinking.

That's not the only baffling thing that came with the rework. Why would someone need to buy 1000 of each piece of Masterwork Armour every 4 hours? That trade limit should be reduced to 2 per 4 hours.
Hard -> 3a Range Top (#357), 3a Full Helm (#439), Barrows Dye (#1755)
Elite -> Shadow Dye (#510), Barrows Dye (#680, #1567), 3a Druidic Staff (#969), Sack of Effigies (#972), Ice Dye (#1539)

Just visited another thread that suggested a similar fix, changing the spirits into a neutral form and requiring more or less based on the tier of the ore. I feel this is also an easy fix for the current issue and gives the spirits a base price as well.

Or they could change stone spirit drops into some kind of tradable currency that allows players to buy stone spirits with it. Tougher bosses drop more currency, and higher tier stone spirits cost more currency. Straight dropping spirits is pretty useless, especially because they're all the low tier spirits.
