The practical use of the spirits is simple. You get a spirit, you mine with the spirit in your inventory, you get a second ore. Simple in theory, good idea on paper,
grossly incorrectly priced,
incorrectly valued out of tier spirit monster drops,
and incorrectly rare drop table set.


1. Grossly incorrectly priced;
The ores, just don't match the value. If you buy spirits, you're likely paying as much as you would for a single ore. Oftentimes less, oftentimes more. This is due to the scarcity of the higher tier ore spirits, and the MASSIVE SURPLUS of the lower tier ores. If you're not getting some sort of boost for your time buying and using the spirits, there's no reason for it. Even if it's a small boost.

2. Incorrectly valued out of tier spirit drops;
Simply put, they're wrong. You have one ore, you get another ore. Sure this works fine. However, when you're bossing, and you get one or two of these things as a drop... Seriously? What about slaying, you get things like gold spirits from tier 70 and 80 slayer monsters, and rune spirits from tier 90 slayer monsters. Okay... why? You're far beyond this point, and the ores are practically worthless. I got a miner to level 90 in a couple weeks, just by mining in my spare time. These spirit drops aren't helping, and they're incredibly out of their value range in almost all places. You're shelling out value of a boss, vs value of a slayer monster, and comparing the two like they're in the same list of huntables. Airuts dropping rune spirits, at the same time gargoyles are dropping adamant spirits. Practically useless. Give me coins.

3. Incorrectly set rare drop table amounts;
Rune spirits are not rare, they are not useful, and they are not valuable. Rune mines at a very fast rate, and is tier 50. This is NOT something that should be rewarded from the rare drop table. Same thing for a SINGLE diamond, but that's another story. Luminite is just as easy to gather as rune. Overvalued in the rare list, by far.

Ye they messed up with the amounts & the tiers.

Imo the simplest fix is to give them more usefulness.

This can be done through disassembly or alch values similar to the ores, or other uses such as a 20% chance at double bonus ore.

The problem is people aren't mining with them even though they should be, I think mainly because mining is just so much easier & nice now that people don't really care, they just enjoy mining again.

But every single person should be mining with stone spirits.


The real spot they've missed is the tiers.

People simply aren't mining that much low level stuff, like for example gold stone spirits are vastly over represented.


I think it's worth noting that since these are bonus ores, similar to bonus xp, it's ok to make them more powerful, because it still requires work by people to get use from them.


It's the same idea that you get more bxp from stars than you get xp from lamps of the same size.

They definitely need adjusting, got three stone spirit drops back to back at Nex, which would be fine if they weren't runite and luminite and only 40 and 80 of them....I agree they are a fantastic idea on paper and really like that they don't directly pump ore into the game but they botched the delivery bad on this one. They need adjustment across ALL drop tables.

It'd actually make sense if stone spirits were also available from Seren Spirits and the geodes from mining. Stone spirits should be removed from high level bossing drop tables, but kept on the low/mid-level bossing and slayer monster drop tables, but with some re-balancing, as no one likes getting coal stone spirits as a drop.

Stone spirits from the Seren Spirits would be dropped depending on which table you land on the RDT. The gem table should give T1 to T50 stone spirits, the rare table T60 to T90 stone spirits, and the super rare table T80 to T90 stone spirits in a larger quantity.

For the geodes, stone spirits should match what tier rocks give the respective geode. So, T1 to T50 stone spirits should be available from Sedimentary geodes, T60 to T90 stone spirits from Igneous geodes, and a higher quantity of T80 to T90 stone spirits from Metamorphic geodes. The supply of T90 stone spirits are severely lacking right now, while low tier spirits are so numerous and hardly anyone is using them.
Hard -> 3a Range Top (#357), 3a Full Helm (#439), Barrows Dye (#1755)
Elite -> Shadow Dye (#510), Barrows Dye (#680, #1567), 3a Druidic Staff (#969), Sack of Effigies (#972), Ice Dye (#1539)
Master -> Barrows Dye (#480)

Best choice of action is removal, if what you state is done, since mining is now #AFK-Scape for ores, nothing will hold it's value. Logic wise, stone spirits to be useful would have to be less value than the said ore, now it comes down to how much lower? then on top of that supply and demand plays a factor and guess what? they all crashed and now we go to forums again for a fix.

So, overall adjusting these stone spirits would waste JaGeX's time and ours since ores are now fast enough and consumed by AFK-Scape. If anyone needs more proof of this logic just compare runecrafting to all money making skills, since it's not yet consumed by AFK-Scape for rune making it's still high gp per hour.

FYI, your post is also very biased to your play style lol, removal of stone spirits will favour everyone unless your an iron man/woman needing 10k+ of ores ASAP

today i also got pissed of because those usseless stone spirits drops i was doing twin furies for 1 hour barely made 300k in like 14 kils because i was getting way to many Luminite phasmatite and necrite stone spirits these drops are killing gwd 2 bosses if you ask me they should delete those spirits is ruining pvm (iam not even gonna get started about slayer monster drops) just replace it with coins at least when i got a 70k coins from a boss i know its worht 70k and not like those spirirts since then even less worth then ge price

based on jagex history this is what will happen.

jagex will continue to ignore the problem, make jokes in streams but give no direct answer to the questions.

Throw comments like "were looking into it" and "we don't want to make a knee jerk reaction"

In time, players though still pissed will give up posting about it.

And to jagex problem solved.

Please remove the over the top notifications for mimic tokens, its a 10k item no-one wants, it doesn't need a message and loot beam.

The proper fix:

Remove stone spirits and have all secondary ores dropped only from pvm:

Tin
Coal
Luminite
Drakolith
Phasmatite
Solacite (will be secondary ingredient of Banite) note: solace is the opposite of bane
Animica ores (remove all animica ores except for Trah hour)

The primary ores can be mined however.

Now you got profitable skilling and pvm.

Why stone spirits are not worth as much as their corresponding ores is obvious: if you want to train Smithing quickly, without mining the ores you need, you need to buy ores, not stone spirits, from the GE.


But while stone spirits save time when mining, they don't save clicks. You click to load your ore box, and you click to return to mining... when your backpack fills up. Which happens after as many ores whether you use stone spirits or not. So to get twice the ores for the same number of clicks... the extra ore from a stone spirit should go straight to your metal bank. (Of course, there probably should be a toggle on that too.)

Then at least the stone spirits will seem like they're worth something. Right now, I mine with them simply to keep my bank from being cluttered.
