Either the Seren spell Superheat Form does not work, or I don't know how to use it. I am smithing Bane Pickaxes at the Artisan's workshop with the prayer Superheat Form activated. Supposedly from the description in game and also from what I have seen here on the forum, this should keep my project from falling below 50% heat. Or at least keep the project from fully cooling. Yet it does not do this. With the prayer activated, the chat box says "Your item hasn't cooled as Superheat Form is still keeping it hot." Regardless of what the chat box says, the item continues to cool to the point of reaching zero heat and my character stops smithing.

So what gives here? Superheat form doesn't work? Or am I doing something wrong?

Not so much.

If you read the description of Superheat Mode

"..And smithing a Low or Mediu heat item acts as a Medium or High heat item."

It ACTS as that, it doesn't become that. It still needs heating to retain top xp rates.

Superheat prayer doesn't prevent your heat from falling, it makes it so that your heat counts as one level higher than it actually is.

So when you get the "Your item hasn't cooled" message, It's because your heat level has decreased to the point where it would normally go down to Medium heat, but the prayer is keeping it at High heat.

if you let it cool further, you would see another message at 33%, where the item transitions to Low heat, but the prayer would count it as Medium heat instead.

I see. So I am just misunderstanding what it does. Thanks for the clarification. Basically it isn't very useful at all then. Well maybe a little bit useful, I guess. Thank goodness the explorers ring still works as it used to. ;)

It's actually quite useful.

For active smithing, it cuts how often you need to reheat in half, as you'll benefit from high heat smithing until 33%.

For afk smithing, it significantly increases efficiency by making the auto-heater function such that you're always at medium heat rather than low/none.

It also speeds up smelting by 0.6 seconds, which is nothing to scoff at in the long run.

It's extremely useful actually. Combines great with the auto-heater, allowing you to afk smith at medium heat speed instead of low. For if you're actually using the forge, it means you need to click it about half as often for max heat.

And the speeding up smelting is nice. Though I tested and it doesn't work on making jewelry and cannonballs. Thing down in "casting metals."
