Well the mining and smithing rework has created a huge imbalance with Nex drops. Sky high torva prices making it nearly impossible to get praesul essence to trim your masterwork. Crashing prices of pernix and virtus armors. Worthless coal and rune stone spirit drops.

One way this could be corrected would be to allow pernix and virtus armors also be destroyed to produce praesul essence. Its only logical that this be so. It would infuse a bit more praesul essence into the game and alleviate some of the wild price swings in nex armors.

Not to mention that it is only logical.

Come on Jagex---let's get with the program.

It'd be more logical to wait for reworks to ranged and magic armour crafting systems to add in the ability to break down Pernix and Virtus armours, IMO.

ummm......you may have missed it, but the "reworks" to mage and range armor already happened. The Aminishi temple that gives the ancient scale drops to create t92 range armor (aka elite sirenic) and the draconic energy from the blackstone dragon in ed2 to create elite tectonic T92 mage armor.

In any case, this thread is about an imbalance caused by the mining and smithing update vis a vis Nex and my proposed solution.

Clearly masterwork armor was the t92 melee armor answer to the craftable t92 armors that we got from ed1 and ed2 for range and mage.

I'm not talking about just taping in some armour and calling it good, I'm saying when we get reworks to Crafting, Fletching, and Runecrafting.

Also, Elite Tectonic and Elite Sirenic were answers to Masterwork becoming a thing, not the other way around.
Jagex realized that Melee would be top notch for too long and decided they'd tie it in with the Elite Dungeons as to not imbalance the combat triangle for longer than two years, since Masterwork and Trimmed Masterwork have been planned for a solid 2-3 years.

Hopefully jagex learn from their terrible mistakes and this never happens.
You'll get it when you deserve it.

I totally agree here. I've just begun solo'ing Nex and in around 70 kills I only got one special drop (virtus legs) which sold for 19m. I've not gotten one decent drop apart from that one and I'm at the point where I don't die anymore but I literally make more money camping Vindicta or slayer monsters. Even with the runite/coal spirit drops at Vindi, I still average on 3M trips without lance/crest drops. Nex is break even for me atm.

Yesterday I did 4 Nex kills: I got 2 coal spirit drops & 2 sup restore/brew drops... Cost me 600K to create the instance (normally 800K without reaper unlock) and about 200K in sailfish & brew flasks PER KILL. So I actually lost money on that. Is it normal you lose money on a group boss (which requires some skill and gear investments to be able to solo)?
I think not...

No I'm tired of waiting for reworks. Just hotfix the ability to break down pernix and virtus the same way torva can for praesulic essence and OP's issue is solved. Do it on mod shauny's lunch break thursday.
