Hi.

My name is Jamandy52. I have been playing RuneScape since 2008. I have always loved RuneScape, and probably always will. I think one of the challenges, for me as a player, is that there is content I may never actually try, or achieve. And that is okay. It isn't because of a computer, or a gear or cash flow problem, but because of a disability, that I may never hold the Comp capes, MQC, or play various minigames. None of that bothers me, but sometimes my friends do not understand the pressures they put on me, and probably other players like me, to 'git gud' and do these things.

You see, I have Epilepsy. I appreciate the warnings. I love knowing when a seizure MIGHT be triggered. I have also had seizures attempting multiple quest bosses and recently ignored the Boss fight in Lord of Vampyrium for well over a year before re-attempting due to a seizure trigger buried within the quest. I made it, I am okay, and I am thankful the quest is complete. Ha ha ha.

Anyway, Epilepsy is a very interesting disability because unless you know someone with it, most people know very little about it. People believe you can swallow your tongue or that you just drop and flail like a toddler having a tantrum. It impacts everyone with the condition in different ways. And tonight, as I am firemaking, I am reminded why I avoided Char's Training Cave- LOL.

I am not here to write a post to ask for any of that content to be changed. As a person with disabilities, it's perfectly normal to know and accept that there will be things I cannot do, or do in the same way. But, what I did come for, is to enlist Jagex in maybe adding a little more 'visual support' for those of us who would like to have it.

I propose an additional pet, or pet accessory - a service dog, or a customizable vest for a service dog?

Why a Service Dog would be a great addition to the game as a follower pet:

Service Dogs are visual. You can see the person has a disability and is being supported. Think of children who get toys with amputations, wheelchairs, or scars that mimic their disabilities?

A service dog as a pet would allow the player to have the option of taking their real life support on their greatest adventure.

A service Dog as a pet would be a traditional dog model, with a vest accessory. You could pick any sort of color and spacing for a logo like the Medic logo.

You do not need to have a disability or prove you have one to have a service dog accompany you in Runescape! [This is, afterall, a game].

Jagex is very supportive of players with large varying fields of disabilities. This would simply be a way for a player, like myself, to engage with content they love, to take it another step. Just like getting dressed, making food, and brushing my teeth, my service dog is a part of my life.

It could be used as a fundraiser for one of the organizations for supporting disabled players. This also gives players who are not disabled good reasons for purchasing and using the 'pet'.

It raises awareness, and normalizes 'scary medical issues' in a way that is friendly to the player.

Playing would be optional.

The pet would work like any other event follower type, be overrideable etc.

It would make me feel like my Bella is right there in game with me.

A little more about service dogs, from my perspective.

I live in America, where a service animal is a Dog or a Miniature Horse specifically trained to mitigate a disability. I have Epilepsy and my dog brings support when I have a seizure, reminds me to take my meds, warns me before a seizure 80% of the time, and helps me shop and live a normal life with minimal impacts from my disabilities.

In America, any dog can be a service dog, so long as it is well groomed, public access trained, and mitigates a disability. No vests, tags, leashes, or other visual supports are required. Some Service Dogs may perform different tasks than others.

Bella is a 15 pound miniature Pinscher who is of the usual black and brown min pin markings. She is 4 years old and has been by my side for 3 years now.

If I could bring Bella into Runescape, I would have a black dog model, with a blue vest with a red or white medical cross logo. The examine would say 'working, do not pet.' She would override any familairs I was using because that is how I would love to play.

Bella sleeps, sits, and snuggles with me when I play, and it would be such fun to feel like she is there, ingame too.

What a service animal is not- is an emotional support pet with no task or access training. This is commonly known as an ESA who simply provides companionship. Any follower in Runescape could do that, tbh.

As a player with a visibly invisible disability, this is an option I would love to see available.

Until next time, I'll be off wandering Runescape in search of the next adventure.

P.S. Please leave constructive feedback. ;) <3

Problem is Jagex seems to have forgotten that setting even exists, and many of the flashing animations released as of late are not disabled by that.

They definitely should remember they have the setting and add all flashable stuff to it.
