With Runefest this month and the annual "The Year Ahead" showcase I was wondering what your predictions or hopes are for lore in the coming year.
Whether it be existing quest lines being finished or brand new unheard of projects, please share your thoughts.

Can we please get out of the Fifth God Damn Age already?

That is literally all I want. That is why I proposed during RuneLabs last year that we finished off ALL the 5th age story-lines, and the idea stayed on page 2 of the "most voted" list for the entire month.

I know I may sound like a broken record and that may sound more than just a bit like bragging but the point is that I wasn't alone. The fact that it stayed that popular means I'm not the only one who liked the idea of moving into the 6th Age with every quest-line.

Agreed, fifth age needs to go. They make all the quests get stuck in the 5th age as the other guy said, when there would be potential for some of them like the Myreque to have created more 6th age content.

Agreed with Sepulchre as well.

Desert series is now almost done.
Pirate series is kinda close to done as well.
We've knocked off a bunch of other 5th Age quests as well.

It's high time to just dive into the deep end and focus on knocking out the rest.

Honestly, I'm half-expecting there won't even be a lore section for Runefest. Devs are being diverted left and right to mobile and other secret 'big projects' (not that that's necessarily a bad thing - Jagex needs another product, but they also need to learn how to manage, market, and not abandon fledgling properties). Given the road map presented to investors and Shandong, 2018 has long been planned as a major year for new product releases - I'd guess Jagex is trying to look beyond Runescape more than ever right now.

With half the developers working on the ninja team and another quarter working in an explicitly combat-focused scrum, that leaves the entirety of any other type of new development in the hands of a very small group - quests probably have more competition for dev time now than in any other year.

With expansions, elder god quest, and thread quest all scrapped, and TAPP projects set aside for unfinished business, it's a near certainty that Evil Dave quest (blech) will be the only remaining quest in 2017. And it's not looking good for other quests that want attention. And, if Menaphos is anything to go by, there has been a major shift in how Runescape prioritizes and chooses to present quests.

With the first major arc of the 6th Age concluded and some of the most major storylines tied up, I feel like Jagex might be looking to scrap resource-heavy, narrative-heavy questing altogether, and look to imitate other MMOs. Especially if they're looking for accessibility when opening up the game to a new market (which, for the record, I think is a horrible idea, but seems like it could be the direction they're going).

Anyways, I expect a lot of bluster about big new (possibly non-RS3) Jagex projects in 2018, a lot of insubstantial concept art for various reworks, some big combat reveals, and probably some sort of brand changes or an expansion of cross integration. I kinda think story will get brushed under the rug.

^ A lore talk is confirmed for Runefest. In fact, it's actually longer than the last one. This one's going to be 90 minutes IIRC. -
I have noticed your kind does tend to blindly stumble forward towards danger simply because it exists. What is your word for that?
- We call it being a hero.

At the very least, they need to get an understanding of how they wish those storylines to progress. Which should remain in the 5th Age/be age-agnostic? Which ones should progress into the 6th Age and how much influence should the 6th Age give? Should storylines with some god connections expand on that? Once that's done, figuring out how to incorporate that while still trying to stick to the storyline's plot and focus.
