A lot of the Second Age empires of the gods correspound with the great nations of the Antique: Zarosian Empire is Rome, Menaphite Empire is Egypt, and JMods consider Saradomin's Empire to effectively be Ancient Greece. Loarnab, specifically, could be compared with the cultures that the Romans conquered first: Etruscans and the Italic peoples.

Guthixians also have some similarities with the Celts, as like the Celts, they once were the dominant human group of their continent, but the other, more technologically advanced civilizations pushed them far into the sidelines, and their religion and culture now survives only as vestigial remnants spread across the world. Guthix itself is based on the Green Man and the Horned Deity, both motifs present in the Celtic mythology.

People have also been comparing how the early Fourth Age could correspound with the Migration Period, the Late Fourth Age with the Middle Ages, and the Fifth/Sixth Age with the Reneissance. This would mean that the First Age would most likely correspound with the Pre-Historic Iron Age or Pre-historic Bronze Age, and the Third Age would likely be based on the various wars that were fought during the Roman Empire before its collapse.

There are even more correspoundances with RuneScape's races as well: Goebies are inspired by Aztecs and Mayas, Ilujanka are inspired by the Yoruba people of Nigeria, Bandos' race can be compared to the Bantu and Khoisan peoples of Southern Africa, Gorajo are inspired by Native Americans such as Navajo and Cherokee, Auspah bare similarities to the cultures of Western India, the Arc's culture is a mix of Polynesian and Japanese cultures, and Armadyl's army composition is inspired by the Mongol army which could imply that the Aviansie similarities with the Steppe peoples of Eurasia. Old lore also implies that the Eastern Continent is very similar to Medieval China.

In my opinion you've pretty much nailed it there Aquamancer. I don't quite get why Saradomin's empire to be Ancient Greece, but that's probably because I'be forgetten the majority of the lore behind saradomin.

I believe JMods said that there's a lot of references to Ancient Greece in Saradomin and his Empire: I think the Old Saradominist language and the presence of centaurs are supposed to be some of them, but I believe there were more reasons for it.

As for the gods, Saradomin is clearly inspired by the medieval interpretation of the Christian God, while Zamorak is based on the medieval interpretion of the Christian Devil. Zaros' origins are more vague, but he seems to have been inspired by Zoroastrianism (Azzanadra's name is apparently one of Ahura Madza's, Zoroastrianism's main god's, alternative names), Roman mystery religions, and the Antique interpretation of the Christian God.

V appears to have been inspired by Odin and Väinämöinen, the rest of the Fremennik Pantheon (if they exist) is likely inspired by the Norse, Finnic, Baltic and Slavic religions, the Karamjan pantheon is likely inspired by African, South African, Caribbean and Voodoo mythologies, and the Menaphite Pantheon is based on Egyptian mythology (Tumeken is a mix of Horus, Ra, Amun and Osiris; Elidinis is Tefnut, Taweret, Nephthys and Isis; Icthlarin is Anubis and Bastet and Osiris to some extent; Amascut is Ammit, Sekhmet and Am-heh; Apmeken is Qebehsenuef; Crondis is Sobek and Hapi; Scabaras has some elements of Seth, Khepri, Serket and Duamutef; Het is Imsety; and in general, the aspects of Tumeken can be compared with the Eye of Ra and the Eye of Horus). Even the Camel God could be compared with Verethragha, the Iranian god of battle and victory who is despicted as a camel, and associated with royalty as a result of camels being a symbol of kingship.

However, a lot of the later gods, like Armadyl, Bandos, Seren, Brassica Prime, Marimbo, Tuska, Skargaroth, Jododu Otoku and Loarnab do not really have a counterpart in real life religions (although Armadyl has been theorised to have been based on the Judaic interpretation of God, and Seren has retrospectively gained a Yin/Yang dualism with Zaros).
