The Mahjarrat are in trouble as we should all know. They have one female and a halfjarrat female left and none of the males can shapeshift into a female? How were the Mahjarrat even biologically compatible with humans to make a Halfjarrat? O_o

There has been talks of them reproducing by every means from eggs to mahsupials (see what I did there?:P) It seems not even the JMods know for sure and the arguments have raged until there the topic fell by the way side. But I have a theory that fits all the known facts. So here you are. My theory on Mahjarrat reproduction and why there is a male and female, as well as how they could have produced a halfjarrat....

Well it sounds to me as if Mahjarrat reproduction needs a starting place, as no one seems to have decided and everyone is stuck on it being solely biological. What if it is far more Anima based than physical?

A mixing of energy, not forgetting that souls are generally anima based in RS. You might need to add a bit more physical spec or 2 that has to be infused to get self replication. The "female" would have to be able to gather, store and provide a lot of anima for a growing fetus. That would give us the weakening of females that has been observed.

Now that should allow shapeshifted Mahjarrat to errrr......hmm. . . . do business as usual.

It should also allow for Moia to come into existence. Though the toll taken on human females to produce such a spawn would be near catastrophic back then. At least the 6Th Age might have supplements that would make such an endeavour far easier now. It might also explain why no male Mahjarrat just shapeshifted to female. Maybe a "female" is far better equipped to survive that demand?

I think this theory covers the bases of what we've heard so far.

There was a thread a while back about mahjarrat reproduction. It got weirder and weirder and I think it was eventually locked.
Enakhra's hips came up a lot, but Taw-Paak has hips too

They do need the females though (akthanakos is pretty dumb for suggesting enakhra be the sacrifice, like, you're dooming your entire race, mate), whatever it is that the females contribute

*enakhra gets sacrificed*
*all the mahjarrat die*
akthanakos: so worth it

maybe they should poke mah some more until she vomits out some more mahjarrat

Well I am just going for the underlying reasoning, rather than a discussion in Mahjarrat *cough* gymnastic *cough*. Mahjarrat are about as different as you can get, so the explanations that had come before were far too simplistic. They shapeshift and the fetus would have to survive that as well, so whatever their underlying biology (if you can even call it that) couldn't be on the list of usual suspects. Especially to produce Moia at all!

So hips never even enter into the equation :P In fact I'll go as far as saying it would be off topic, so I don't want to hear it.

I was thinking 'why the blazes is this person calling a fetus a foetus?' I thought I was having another beserker/berserker or berenstein/berenstain moment. I'd rather not have moved to yet another universe where everyone is speaking yet more gibberish :P (I'm not overly familiar with british english. possibly you would just call it english though)

yeah... if I'm a girl mahjarrat, I'm not planning on shapeshifting whilst pregnant. That sounds irresponsible.

I don't think they actually shift shape though, I feel like it's more a disguise... like the glasses-and-nose thing or like what humans changing clothes must look like to animals

Because the blasted stupid windows based autocorrect thinks that fetus is not apart of the English language. Foetus is a non-technical British variation, fetus might be USA in origin, a technical word more commonly used or just a simplification. But I'll go back and add fetus manually. Here's an interesting question though. If Moia had a child with another Mahjarrat, would it be very close to a true Mahjarrat?

Or weirder still could she actually be a full Mahjarrat and Human, 2 in 1 rather than half and half. It would only be with the energy infusion that the Mahjarrat side of her was given expression. In which case any child she had would be a dual form and not a half and half as well. It would be a Mahjarrat that starts off in human form until it developed far enough to gather energy for that second forms full development.

Ok so she started off weak, but she didn't kill the pure human host while she gestated so she should be able to manage a similar pregnancy far more easily than a traditional Mahjarrat pairing. Possible?

Tell me what you think, did Lucien give up on his Moia project far too early?

Could Zimzam have pulled of a spectacular coup by seizing the future of the Mahjarrat for his own purposes? Time is certainly on his side after all.

If that's true, then halfjarrats could save the Mahjarrat race. If not, then any form of race mixing should be banned immediately, as they would further the decline by destroying the purity of the Mahjarrat race.

It has the side benefit that it meant Zamorak cornered the market on female Mahjarrat so the others would eventually have to come to him. Hopefully showing him to be the insightful tactician and betrayer of legend that betrayed Zaros and fought so well in the God Wars against all odds.
