Support much of this thread. There's too many highlights to vocalize, really. I think the condensation of minigame worlds and more easier accessibility from points like the GE and Priff are going to be some of the only ways to keep minigames going.

You note EOC killed Combat Minigames mainly due to improper scaling when it was implemented, but it's not even just that. Even non-combat games took a hit. Take Conquest, for example. You don't mention this game at all. That's surprising- it involves no combat or gear, gives more Commendations than PC, and requires only one other person. Of course, this game had a community that did not die until EoC, and that was due to it becoming unbearably plagued by bugs and unwanted changes to interfaces to a point that it was unplayable. The community was still trying to get Jagex to fix and be aware of the problems in this particular game as of last year, I'd have to ask around, but I'm sure someone's mentioned it since then. There's lots of reasons why minigames have died, but refusing to fix the ones that broke probably doesn't help.


There's a lot I've been left wanting when it comes to minigames. Several do not have viewing orbs where you can see games be played out, whether they're combat oriented like Castle Wars and Soul Wars, or relaxed like Mobilizing Armies and Conquest. If a minigame hub world gets made, I think more viewing orbs where people can spectate would be a great thing to include. It might really help hype the interest as people can watch the best players do their thing, and maybe get them started playing on their own.

Finally, Non combat minigames, especially the strategy ones that require only two people, could absolutely have a scaleable AI. TVSB has the player playing Conquest against one; why can't that be played any time outside the quest? I'm sure a lot of people who enjoy such games would love a match vs an AI as practice before playing someone else.

A Void Armor rework would be nice.

I never got to fully read your thread but I nit picked through and saw some things that I liked... I can remember me and a whole clan of friends getting in the clan chat.. with a couple of generals and captains recruiting a whole bunch of people for the purple portal in clan wars. We all wore that 3rd age armor to look like Spartans and we charged in fighting every time.. it was so fun and a good memory to look back on when I was younger. It would be awesome to see stuff like that revived because some of the best times I had in the game were the minigames themselves. Thatís how we met all kinds of new people and interacted with the community.. when we get beat or beat someone everyone is teleported out of the arena and back to the hub where we find the people we just fought and talk a little trash lol. I think it is worth looking back into and fixing up for another generation of players to have those experiences.

Heya - finally taken a bit time reading through the reward table and would leave some commentary to it:

- Gauntlets of wrath: The reduction on one side of the damage range should be less than the increase on the other (see how the invention equilibrium perk was fixed the same way). Sounds extremely bad as is, as is lowers your average damage, makes dealing damage less reliable due to an increased variance (which wouldn't be an issue if your average damage rises) and allows you to hit the damage cap more often, again diminishing your damage potential.
- I think herb and seed pouches with an auto-pick up functionality are sorta redundant now as the herbicide/seedicide can be upgraded with that functionality (also the seedling suggestion). I think they should exist as pure storages though and would suggest for the herb pouch the ability to store noted herbs (as creatures with multiple herb drops still could eat up your inventory quite fast).
- Golden thread functionality is already included in the crafting skill cape. I wouldn't say it's useless as you need to achieve skill mastery first, but it certainly should be one of the easier unlocks then.
- Fishing lure would be useless as you can learn this ability via the aquarium (same with fly fishing) with fairly low effort
- A bottled bonfire was introduced with the treasure trails update earlier this year
- Tome of elements: That was already changed with the eoc - every combat spell has a potential maximum (i.e. it's 92 for all 4 surge spells) - it uses the lowest value out of your magic level, weapon tier or potential maximum
- Not using ammo thing: They were introducing quite a few charge bows the last few years (gravite, decimation, seren,...). They're not as niche anymore.
- 5k hp over 5 minutes (can only carry one?): I just would add a cooldown like it was done for enhanced excalibur or the elven ritual shard
- Automated butler exists in the form of the monkey butler already, hide tanner also already was introduced

- Rusty lockpick was introduced in the form of the master thief's lockpick earlier this year, not coming with a low success rate restriction.
- Gain xp while failing: I personally think that just should be a passive thing to have some consolation gift (maybe around 10 % of the success xp) and still some sense of progress. Binding it to an unlock will likely delay it to a point at which it won't be relevant for players anymore (as higher levels already offer features reducing fail rates in almost every place).
- Direct charge siphon: May not exist directly, but the divine-o-matic vacuum has a comparable functionality.
- Camouflage: Exists in the form of a potion

Most stuff actually sounds quite interesting - keep up the good work :)

Support - purely for FoG, Pest Control & Castle Wars. many, many enjoyable hours there.

Oh and not to mention - I can't even complete the Karamja Hard Achievements due to Fight Pits being dead as dodo

Some good comments youíve made. And definitely while EoC was a major factor in the demise of minigames it definitely wasnít the only reason as you point out. Mobilizing Armies for example is literally unplayable. Mostly Iíve run out of room and just canít tackle everything.

More viewing orbs would be cool. And I definitely think AI could go a long way.

I love to see many of us share similar memories and the Minigame ones were some of the best. I think a Minigame revival would be very healing for the community.

Youíre quite right of course! This list is actually a few years old so I havenít taken the time to weed out the irrelevant ones. Will do so as soon as I get the motivation lol.

Didnít even know about the bottle bonfire or fishing lure though

Yes! It drives me nuts that many completionists are literally unable to progress because of dead minigames. At the very least the should remove the achievements if only temporarily
