Did anyone else notice that they didn't have a special effect for a regular bow (longbow)? It makes some sense to just have it be the opposite of the shortbow- the further away you are the more damage you do- but I thought I'd mention that it is missing from the news update regardless.

Hi expedition63,

I wish they'd gone that route - it would've been fun.

Instead, they focused on the defensive capabilities of the Shieldbow. (as the "longbow" counterpart to the Shortbow is now, in-game.)

Here's what they posted:

"Shieldbow
The shieldbow is a defensive weapon, so its weapon effect adds to its defensive capabilities rather than damage-dealing.

Effect breakdown - Defence abilities cost 20% less adrenaline to use. (This means it only costs 40% adrenaline for defence thresholds or 80% adrenaline for Defence ultimate abilities)."

Not to mention they also neglected basic longswords in melee, and I guess there's no difference for wands vs. staves.

I just really hope that this brings some love to hybrid dual wields.

I would really love for having thrown axes in one hand giving a bunch of bonus adrenaline, and some ice spells in the other healing for each kill.

Yeah the missing weapon types need to be filled before releasing this update I feel. Jagex has a history of releasing batch 1 of an update then shelving the rest. This is why players voted Smithing and Mining to be 1 update and not in batches. When you know how to think, it empowers you far beyond those who know only what to think.

I think you are right. But I think it is a good idea not to spend to many resources before opening this beta. This way they can integrate our feedback from this beta in the next batch of weapons. But all weapons need to be looked at before they release it to the real game.

I would prefer going the other route and giving an accuracy buff rather than damage buff - for shortbows it makes sense, since shortbows were always about damage pre-EoC, but longbows should focus more on accuracy and being farther from a target would make more sense that you can hit it more accurately with a longbow from afar

thrown axes

I was really disappointed to see that they only gain extra adrenaline on 'auto' attacks - pretty lame tbh
