I always like to change my password every so often and have done so without problems. This time I've been trying to change it for 2 days now and have not received any email from Jagex giving me the URL to do so.

My "registered" email address is the same as it has been for years; and though I have not had to in the past, I checked the spam/junk to see if Jagex's email got placed there somehow. Nothing found there either.

Need help and not sure where to post this as it is a Jagex thing I'm sure as all on my part has been done after login and from the game's interface itself.

This concerns me greatly now because a friend has just learned he was hacked and he never gives away his password and, also, has all the "protective" devices in place, including the authenticator. Now how does such a thing occur with all these protections in place?

Hey Jodie.

I would suggest you to look into this article :

https://support.runescape.com/hc/en-gb/articles/205846842-Not-receiving-emails

If that didn't help , then can you only Make a new email for your account.

Well there are a lot of ways to get Hacked , even if you had all security in place.

If Auth was disabled , then is that a sign of a insecure Email , since that is the only way to turn it off.

If Auth still are active , then did your friend get phished some how or allowed a RAT into his/hers system , so it could be hiding in a 3rd party client (like Runelite/OSBuddy)

If people also played on their phones , could it happen when they connected to a Public WIFI , since that is a way doggy people are harvesting peoples information.

Skod River if I have to make a new email to be registered for my account I would have to verify that change by receiving an email from Jagex at my old email account. Is this not so?

A few years back I set up an account for my disabled son and he set up a "registered" email to protect that account with Yahoo. Well Yahoo got messed up and now he has no way of protecting his account because he cannot change anything about his protections...all due to the fact Yahoo is messed up and he cannot get an email there like he use to. He even tried the different methods of retrieving his account hoping that would help; but the automative system kept throwing it back at him. Thus he is having to play on an account he developed into a strong character many years ago and having to do so without any protections. That is so sad!!

Well you need to do a full recovery of your son's account :)

If you look into this article and follow that path dont have access to email route :

https://support.runescape.com/hc/en-gb/articles/205982841-Your-email-is-old-inaccessible

And provide information there show Jagex that you/he are the creator of the account.

If you still have not gotten that email , then do you need to do a full recovery of that account , and when that is done and Jagex has approved that , will that new email you use be the registered email of your account.

Some email providers are treating Jagex emails as trash/spam , so that email provider they have less problems with are Gmail :)

Well you could tru to send a normal email change and see if that email turns up if it does that , will you get a message about it.

If that do not turn up either , then is it only a Full recovery of your account , there can solve your problem. :)

Sure don't want to mess up this account by attempting to correct something that may not even be wrong....

ReyRay I did look at that URL. Nothing there helped.

I have this dal contacted my Internet Service Provider to inquire about this situation and was assured "noreply@a.jagex.com" had been blocked. In fact I was assured they never blocked any email from getting thru.

Thus the problem is on Jagex' side of this and I would greatly appreciate it getting fixed.

I've always maintained security for my RuneScape accounts and would like to continue doing so. For me part of this security is changing the password periodically.

[It is foolish for me to try to "recover" an account I have not lost. My RuneScape account has always been an ethical account and my "registered" email address has always been good. Still is.]

….. correcting 1st paragraph above ….. sorry am quite upset about this and my nerves show it in my typing.....

"I have this dal contacted my Internet Service Provider to inquire about this situation and was assured "noreply@a.jagex.com" had been blocked. In fact I was assured they never blocked any email from getting thru."

The above paragraph should read, "I have this day contacted my Internet Service Provider to inquire about this situation and was assured "noreply@a.jagex.com" had not...not...be blocked. In fact I was assured they never ...never... block any emails."

Hi there
Jodie

Jagex send out their automated emails from a number of email addresses.

This is the standard workaround when an automated email does not arrive:
If you cannot get the password change email to arrive, put through a change of registered email to a different email (different email provider) then try the password change email again.
After you complete the password change, you can change the registered email back if you want.

Just because one of the automated emails won't work, it doesn't mean they all won't work and the problem can usually be solved without having to go down the account recovery path.
