Although I cannot attend this year, I thought I'd share my itinerary and expenditures from last year. If you have any other tips on saving up, feel free to share. That also includes the ever-changing air ticket prices, if you managed to catch lower fares, don't hesitate to post here :D

As it was my first time to the UK it did not make sense for me to stay in Farnborough, where there are not much things to do. I managed to spend 2.5 days (half day on Thursday and the whole of Friday and Sunday) exploring London. I've restricted myself to going for cheap eats and visiting free attractions.

=Thursday=
Buckingham Palace
St. James's Park
A stroll along Thames

=Friday=
National Gallery
British Museum
Hyde Park
RuneScape Live

=Saturday=
RuneFest all day :D

=Sunday=
Camden Market
Natural History Museum
Victoria and Albert Museum

I flew on Norwegian Airlines, which at that time was the only budget airline for the trip to London. They've terminated the route since January 2019, so now full-fledged airlines are the only options left.
Booked a one-way ticket to London at 305 SGD/170 GBP. I did not have a return ticket as I continued on to Iceland. However, it would have been 448 SGD/250 GBP if that trip never happened. I'll just add to the total though (obviously I need some way of getting back home! :P)

I chose to spend the 4 nights in a hostel near Waterloo. The hostel looks very run down, non A/C, but at least it's somewhere quiet. I could take a 15-minute walk or a short bus trip at 1.50 GBP from the hostel to Waterloo train station, and then board a train straight to Farnborough.
4 nights (breakfast and Wifi included) = 116 GBP

=cont'd=

2 x Anytime return train tickets from London to Farnborough = 36.80 GBP. These were bought in August (if it matters). From the train station the cheapest way to the convention centre would be a bus trip (Bus 1 towards Aldershot at 1.50 GBP per trip) followed by a 10-minute walk. There is no Uber in Farnborough and I refused to take a taxi.

RuneFest ticket = 150 GBP
Merchandise bought from RF = 89 GBP
Other expenditures (e.g. food/transport) = About 80 GBP. No taxis/Uber in London of any sort, using the bus and tube suffice.

The final bill would have been about 890 GBP. Of course this is based on a trip to London only (if I never thought of going to Iceland in the first place).
