I think
Fifi La Frou
hit the nail on the head on this. Especially at:

W&F is not a chit-chat sort of forum, it's where people come who have a serious idea about changing the way the website or forums look/function. Or if something needs fixing.

W&F is undeniably an important forum. There is no question about that. It shouldn't be treated as a secondary General forum, though. Now if your idea focused on getting more activity on the forums themselves, rather than one specific forum... that is something that could be discussed in length. However, as is with any suggestion, it will be met with either agreement or disagreement. The key is how will the author the thread take that criticism. It's essentially important to be open to that opposition as the forums are for everyone, and they also have a voice.

Just to voice one more thing

If people can't see anything broken or failing then they are unlikely to visit.

This is true, especially for this forum. Considering this is a forum for feedback for the forums as well as the site, its unlikely to see a lot of people post here vs. the General forum or another feedback forum which focuses on in-game content.

Jagex are the ones who ultimately decide what gets implemented in-game or on the forums. Some of those ideas are from everyday users, so you should definitely suggest something if you think it will make the forums better. But, because there an overwhelming amount of support, it doesn't mean that the feature/idea gets implemented immediately, if at all. To give you some perspective, a forum rework (new forums), and mobile forums are popular ideas. They have not yet been implemented yet.

Again, this is the reality of having a discussion. Not everyone will agree with your ideas. No one might agree. Maybe everyone will. However, it is how you portray the idea and what you do with that feedback that matters. I understand that you might believe you have an idea to make something better, for example, the forums in this instance, but while you may find use for your idea... others might not see the need whatsoever.

Sometimes ideas need some rework to make it better.. and perhaps even more suitable.

Additionally, I fail to see how Forum Help has anything to do with this particular thread. Is this not about making others more aware of W&F's existence? You're kind of steering the thread into a whole different direction. Also, while you may discuss ideas, you cannot discuss other people. That's not really what this forum is for. Lets try to remain on topic to your original idea.

All the best,

I feel differently, the reason for ideas is often because of what's happening around the forums including FH.

I respectfully disagree. There are many reasons why someone might suggest or provide feedback about the forums, not limited to rule changes and the such. It can be a feature they may have seen somewhere and think it would be an awesome addition for the RSOF or even just use of imagination. However, I go back to the same point, it will either be met with praise or disagreements. Its what the OP does with the feedback that matters. They can take it on board or not.

But what exactly do you propose to bring more activity to this forum? What are some of your ideas?

As I said to make ideas more valid. If you have the same group of people and in this case a very small number of people that's not giving a true indication of what the forums want.

As I said before, ultimately, Jagex decides what does and does not get implemented on the forums. If someone disagrees with an idea you may have, it doesn't mean that the idea is shot down as you are claiming. They may be just as passionate about the forums, and enjoy taking part of such discussions to help better them.

But I am interested in seeing some of the ideas you have that will help bring more activity to this forum? Or the forums as a whole? That is something that can be discussed. Not people or accusations, claims etc.

Lets try to keep it at that.

As it is the in-put is not what I believe a healthy one.

This honestly doesn't make sense to me. Why is it not healthy? There are discussions within this forum that gain traction and become popular ideas. You're worried about the amount of people actually contributing to a said topic. But as I tried to ask earlier, how do you propose to bring more activity to this forum? Or the forums as a whole?

I believe that if a thread is good, word will get around fast. Frequent forum users may share the thread discovery with their friends (who may or may not be forum users) which will in turn, bring more people here. There are threads here that are a direct result of just word getting around.

What if a survey was instead polled? A poll with questions such as things they want to see on the forums etc?
