Welcome to Ashdale!
This role-play takes place in the Dominion of Ashdale, the main authority of Asgrania's many colonies in and around Karamja. Ashdale itself is a small island west of Ape Atoll and south of Feldip Hills. Most of Asgarnia's overseas trade goes through Ashdale, with some of its main exports being fish, sugar, tobacco and slaves. Ashdale has a strong naval presence in the southern seas, enlisting both Asgarnia's navy and privateers to transport goods and protect it's interests alongside the governor's own personal ships.
Ashdale has a highly suspicious, yet sophisticated, Saradominist population intolerant to both mages and other religious groups, often condemning convicted witches, warlocks and heretics to be hanged or enslaved. Poverty and criminal activity are all but unknown both on Ashdale and within it's dominion, and is otherwise peaceful and detached from the politics of the mainland, though tensions have been building up between the Ashdale administration and the Karamjan Government over land, business and religion.

Alongside the navy, Ashdale sports a home militia made up of members of the Guard, and conscripts. Every free male between the ages of 14 and 40 is expected to help defend the capital island in times of strife. There is a number of turrets around the island containing at least seven cannons each to defend the island should a hostile force mount a naval invasion, and emergency supplies and fortifications are present in the caves below the surface island allowing for the islanders to survive for at least two months under siege.
Ashdale's navy consists of donations from Asgarnia's garrison at Port Sarim, Privateer vessels endorsed by the state, and the Governor's own private ships. In terms of numbers, Ashdale's navy is considered small, with twelve warships and seven trading vessels, though these numbers don't account for the island's fishing fleet, which consists of a number of small sloops that can be converted into battleships in times of strife. Whilst the island lacks numbers in it's nautical garrison, it can still be considered a strong fleet as it has;

For religious tolerance, Ashdale has adopted Kandarin's system of taxing some unfavourable religions, and outright banning the worst. Visitors are usually exempt unless they're trading, in which case their goods will be subject to a tariff, if in the yellow category, and a higher tariff in the red. Alongside this, those in the red category will be treated with the least favour, and only be allowed on the main island to unload their cargo, and only if wearing a red armband with most shopkeepers and innkeepers instructed not to serve them.
