Asgarnia is a nation known for its strength against all odds. During times of crisis, the nation is famous for bouncing back twice as strong, and this is no exception. Again and again the hammer fell, first the destruction of Falador followed closely by the kingdom's assimilation in to Kandarin's empire, ransacked by rebellions, goblins and Kinshra, Asgarnia was shaped by the strikes of the hammer and forged to a blade. The tip drives true through the expectations of everybody; A king who wears no crown, an elite force armed with crystal, a strong bond between otherwise-reclusive nations that span all of Gielinor. The era that the kingdom enters is a strange one, but perhaps the strongest.

Now, as the rebellions settle, as the efforts to return Asgarnia to a stable condition finalize, the King is similarly settling in. Becoming far more open about his feats and what he's accomplished, a new creature settles atop a platform, a roost, constructed between the two peaks of the castle. A stark contrast to the brilliant white city, a large black dragon finds its home near its tamer. Skraegorn. A name that sends shivers down the spine of any who survived Sliske's Countdown, the beast was a fearsome and destructive force key in the assaults on Asgarnia. During his time hunting down the Wights and the Dollmaker that continued to terrorize the world after Sliske's demise, Jeoffrey had come across an egg that hatched the dragon's daughter, and through unknown methods, bent it to his will as it grew.

Jeoffrey's title, The Invincible Dragon, becomes clear. No force can stand against him. No beast can resist his will. Has Asgarnia come under the fist of another tyrant? Or perhaps, this is just what a Legend truly is? Whatever the case may be, the future is being shaped now. Will you be a part of it?

Welcome to the player-owned Kingdom of Asgarnia. Over the past few months it's passed hands several times, almost reminiscent of the ancient days in 2011-2012 where Musical Thrones was its own genre of roleplay, though with luck this'll be slowing down! The premise of this group is creating a stress-free roleplay environment where one can enjoy all the different themes of daily life under a monarchy, be it as a farmer trying to survive, or a nobleman trying to scarf down your sixth redberry pie (that's disgusting, what's wrong with you?) Below is a list of the moderators and RP leaders that you can contact for questions regarding their region.

Let it be known that despite several underhanded attempts at replacing this PoK, this is the canonical Asgarnia, easily told by the thread date and course of events held therein.

Leader

RiDaku - Jeoffrey Halvorsson - King of Asgarnia

High Council

Merca - Francesca Gallowood - Duchess of Eastmarch
Ashtorette - Ashley Gremoire - Duchess of Sarimia
Klitty - Willow Konoe - Chancellor

All Rules of RuneScape apply
Forum-Specific Rules apply
Standard RolePlay Rules apply

Additionally,
Our Kingdom will be operating under a zero-tolerance policy regarding harassment. If you're unable to keep your thoughts to yourself, or can't refrain from pressuring other members of this roleplay group OOC, you won't be welcome. This is not a place for things to fester any further.

IC Prejudice is considered non-canon. Throughout my 14 years of playing RuneScape, never once have I seen any lore where (melanin-based) slavery or racism, general sexism, homophobia OR transphobia exists. As such, all references to these things in-character (not strictly limited to interations, either. Racist stereotypes will also be ignored,) ranging from excessive slavery to flippantly/aggressively referring to someone based on the color of their skin or their gender, will be scolded and should the guilty party not cooperate, they will additionally be removed from the scene. Honestly, guys. Asgarnia is home to a makeover mage providing gender-swaps for over a decade, this type of prejudice stuff does not belong in RuneScape.

Characters who wish to join are encouraged to submit an in-character letter here on the forums, to the King, stating their name, interest in becoming a citizen of Asgarnia, faith, and experience. If you are familiar with letters of intent then this is essentially a short version of such a letter.

After the letter is received and read a date and time will be organized for an introduction roleplay, and if your character is accepted by the Kingdom they can begin their life anew in Asgarnia.

Additionally, either before or after the letter, please fill out this form so I can add your name and character to the census (Multiple characters will be listed under the player's name.) Not all information will be listed on the census, but it’s good to have.

Standing law for Asgarnia and its territory are guided by the old Asgarnian Erysailite Code, preserved here for reference.

`•.Έ¨`ˆ°*^•›,Έ`•.Έ¨`ˆ* The Erysailite Code *ˆ΄¨Έ.•΄Έ,‹•^*°ˆ΄¨Έ.•΄

Preamble
In order for the Kingdom of Asgarnia to live in a peaceful society the need for justice and law is above all else. This living document stands as a compilation of past legal and law codes from the rulers of Asgarnia past to make a centralized and lasting set of laws that all rulers will follow in future times. To protect the personal rights of the subjects of the Kingdom, from all levels of social class, religious thought, and race. So that every subject of this Kingdom will know their God given rights and be armed with the knowledge to defend themselves. With the blessing of Saradomin, we create the Erysailite Code for the Kingdom of Asgarnia.

The Asgarnian Bill of Rights

I. The Crown shall not infringe upon or prohibit the right of every Asgarnian to a fair and open trial, to be considered innocent before proven guilty by a lawful trial before their peers.

II. The Crown shall entertain any peaceful appeal of the ruling of a court or tribunal directly to the person of the Asgarnian sovereign, so that they can petition on the behalf of someone who may potentially have befallen a miscarriage of justice.

III. The Crown shall not infringe on right of any Asgarnian to speak freely within the bounds of the Asgarnian Criminal Code, as ordained by this document, and to exercise their faith in a peaceful manner.

IV. The Crown shall defend the security and personhood of any innocent Asgarnian, and any Asgarnian has the right to appeal to the plenipotentiary of the Asgarnian Crown when abroad, should their liberty and freedom be impinged upon.

V. Every man, woman and child has right, as ordained by the Holy Lord Saradomin, to live a free and happy life. The Crown shall never entertain a policy of slavery, nor will it tender support to those powers which bring it into effect against any Asgarnian person.

The Asgarnian Criminal Code

Capital Felonies

Capital felonies are crimes of the most severe nature, and are deserving of the harshest sentences. The maximum penalty, and ultimate sanction, is death, but aside from that, exile, outlawry and life sentences in either incarceration or penal service also stand as acceptable punishments.

High Treason: Actions which betray the reigning sovereign, their government or the citizens of Asgarnia. This can include actions to sabotage the armies of Asgarnia, attempts to destabilize the Asgarnian economy, designs to assassinate or depose the sovereign or members of their government, among other things.

Murder of the first degree: The deliberate taking of someone’s life, with a premeditated, planned approach. To prove that it is murder of the first degree, there must be evidence of an antecedent conspiracy to commit the murder.

Murder of the second degree: The deliberate taking of someone’s life, with malice aforethought. To prove that it is murder of the second degree, it should be proven that even though the murder was not premeditated, it was committed with the knowing and uncompromised intention to kill.

Terrorism: For a crime to be considered terrorism, it must be done with the inherent aim to inflict terror to further a goal, be it economic, political, religious or otherwise. Merely using the weapons of terror does not satisfy the definition. Terrorism is usually attached to other charges, like murder or treason.

Espionage: This crime encompasses acts where state secrets or personnel are endangered or compromised for the benefit of a foreign state or enemy belligerent.

Felonies

Felonies are serious crimes, usually violent, that are of significant concern to public order and the safety of citizens. Felonies are usually punished with periods of penal service or incarceration, significant fines, or outlawry, in severe cases.

Murder of the third degree: The deliberate taking of someone’s life, as a result of passionate action on the part of the defendant. What separates this from murder of the second degree is the emotional/mental state of the defendant. If it was compromised by the circumstances, it is murder of the third degree.

Manslaughter: The accidental taking of someone’s life through negligent action. This can include serious industrial accidents, or deaths as a result of parental negligence, for example. Violent action may occur, but if there is no intention to kill, it is manslaughter.

Assault: Attacks upon another person with intention to cause actual or grievous bodily harm. More severe punishments may be considered if a weapon was used in the commission of the assault.

((Redacted, see the Wiki))

Sedition: The definition of this felony is the distribution or vocalization of falsehoods about the government or the sovereign designed to destabilize the position of those institutions.

Desecration: This is the violation of holy ground or the bodies of the dead. This is dealt with on a case by case basis to determine what is indecent on sanctified premises like graveyards and temples.

Major negligent use of magic: Use of magic in such a way that it poses a danger to the safety of Asgarnian citizens.

Fraud: Misrepresentation of oneself or use of false information in order to attain illicit gain for oneself or relevant others.

Kidnapping: The abduction of a person, irrelevant of motivation. Can be in order to extract ransom, or attain influence over someone.

Intimidation: The use of credible threats of violence against others in order to further one’s agenda.

Brigandry: Can include either banditry or piracy, the use of violence and threats of violence on the King's highways or on the high seas in order to steal from others.

Misdemeanours

Misdemeanours are more minor offences, causing little damage to the fabric of society, but still having an effect on those involved in the matter. A short jail or penal service sentence is normally sufficient for crimes of this matter, if not an intermediate fine.

Perjury: Lying whilst under oath before an Asgarnian court of law. This charge cannot be levelled in the same proceeding, and a new proceeding must be opened after the conclusion of the original hearing or trial.

Blackmail: Levelling threats against someone in order to extract financial gain.

Perverting the course of justice: Lying during an official investigation in order to mislead that investigation.

Contempt of court: Acting in defiance of the peace and procedures of an Asgarnian court of law.

Minor negligent use of magic: Use of magic that presents a threat to the safety and integrity of buildings and property.

Forgery: Fabrication of documents or coinage in order to attain fraudulent gain, may be reclassified as a felony dependent on scale.

Bribery: Providing payment to officials in order to sway the performance of their duties. Can vary from paying a government official to take actions in your favour, to paying an officer of the law to mistreat a prisoner in custody, to other examples.

Evasion of taxes: Failure to pay, or deceitful actions to avoid paying, the mandated taxes and tariffs placed on citizens and goods by the government.

Smuggling: Activities undertaken in order to transfer goods into Asgarnia without paying the relevant importation taxes.

Misconduct in public office: Where a member of the Asgarnian government or military command acts in a manner that debases the prestige and authority of their office. Usually attached to another charge. May result in a sentence forcing their removal from office.

Misconduct of an officer of the peace: Where a soldier or knight acts in a manner that debases the prestige and authority of their office. Usually attached to another charge. May result in a sentence mandating a dishonourable discharge.

Petty Offences

Petty offences are the most minor of crimes that can be committed in defiance of the law of the land, and are almost always punishable by fine or public humiliation, usually by means of stocks.

Breaching the sovereign’s peace: Activities that are in defiance of the public order, but are not classified under other charges.

Public indecency: Exposure of the [REDACTED] in a public setting, and public [REDACTED] acts.

Vandalism: Damaging the property of another person with criminal intent.

Trespass: Deliberately entering the private property of another, or designated zones of state property, without permission.

Civil Matters

These are not criminal matters and a person summoned for a civil case will not face a criminal prosecution unless they fail to appear in court when summoned. Civil matters are conducted between two private citizens, or a citizen and the government, as a private lawsuit. Rulings are entirely at the whim of the magistrate overseeing the matter, within justifiable reason, but are generally confined to compensation, or pushing a legally binding solution to an outstanding conflict.

Breach of contract: When one or both sides of a legally binding contract do not uphold their side of the contract.

Slander: When falsehoods are verbally distributed in order to defame someone’s character. Exceptions exist for opinion, sheer vulgar abuse, and if the reputation of the plaintiff is so low that it is not possible to slander them.

Libel: The same as slander, but in printed format.

Divorce: Where one member of a married couple wishes to divorce the other without their consent. A court is not required in the case of an amiable divorce, however when the divorce is not amiable, arbitration will be required in consideration of alimony payments, custody of children, and the legitimacy of the grounds for divorce.

Medical negligence: Where a patient, in the care of a doctor, has suffered further injury or illness as a consequence of the care they have been provided.

Recovery of damages: This covers lawsuits designed to recover the costs of property damaged either deliberately or accidentally by the defendant.

Appendices

These appendices help cover some matters that are not fully addressed within the legal framework but should be considered alongside them to guide the presiding official in their sentencing.

Suspended sentences: Suspended sentences are a form of substantive warning, where a two season period is granted to the defendant in order to show penance. Should further criminal activity occur, the suspended sentence comes into force. Otherwise, after the two season period, the sentence is annulled.

Fines: Fines are given for two purposes - to compensate the victims of the crime, and to cover the court costs accrued by the government. They should be given with flexibility with regards to the wealth of the defendant.

Bail: Bail can be given following the initial arrest, or during an adjournment of a trial or hearing, with the permission of either the official overseeing the investigation or the official presiding over the judicial proceeding in turn. It should be calculated in consideration of the wealth of the defendant. Bail may not be granted if it is believed that the defendant may abscond, commit further offences, or interfere with witnesses or evidence.

Extenuating circumstances: Certain extenuating circumstances can dismiss the charge, like self defence in a murder or assault charge, or reduce the sentence, like gross provocation by the victim in an assault case. In the case of the latter, however, the sentence still may not pass below minimum guidelines.

Criminal insanity: This requires the testimony of a doctor to prove that the defendant was not responsible for their actions on grounds of insanity, and the court is obliged to sentence the defendant to incarceration in an asylum until a doctor is satisfied the insanity is cured.

Thank you to Ashtorette, Merca and Klitty for helping me out with the coup, and your patience in me getting here.

Extra-big thank you to Arenaride134, who was fully sportsmanlike throughout the whole month-long coup as it built up and up, even when it became clear to him that it was a carefully IC-coordinated uprooting of his character. Thank you for the fun roleplays, and thank you for being an absolute champ even when everybody was bearing down on you from all sides.

I've got more to add but right now I want to post this thread and get the table of contents set up.

Thread done! I hope! We'll see if I measured everything correctly. If not, well, I'm the worst.

EDIT; Good news! Not the worst, I did measure everything correctly. And by that I mean, I have an extra reserve. Yum. Currently, census is only the council - The reason for that is, like with every new thread, member activity needs to be checked. Hey, guys-

Displaying (or even discussing) the nature of blacklists on the forums is a huge no-no. Any grievances you may have should be taken in-game to avoid flamebait, derailment, and generally just f-mod involvement. Thanks!

Also, good to have you, Sonic! Welcome!

Attending in place of the previously-invited Jacob Delvar, Jeoffrey arrived in Lletya to meet with the Chancellor of Tirannwn. After a brief time exploring the village and studying its architecture, he joined Chancellor Cynfor and the other representatives present. A collective deal was cut, and the fruits of that labor will be seen in due time!

For the first, and perhaps, last time, in this new walk of life, I set out alone, away from my estate. And it seems strange to call it that, this manor. For by whatever means it has come to rest in my hands, they are merely that; As much this manor, means toward a greater end. I had expected many things, of this new life, and not one of them was familiarity. And yet, I see men reeling in nets, and I wish they were my father. I see women bring in the harvest, and I wish I knew my mother. I would want them to be proud of me; So it is deathly imperative that I do not fail them.

With His Majesty's approval I would ask to bring Sarim to Falador for a ceremony to which all are invited who would address me, personally. In place of ceremony behind cold, stone walls, let it be open, that it's made clear to all who doubt my intent, or my ability: Know! Having come to age beyond courtly air has not dulled my wits, my senses, or my resolve, but sharpened them. I have spent years honing both word and blade in preparation for the day I could return home. Now, I extend my audience to all who would come, for I know well the perils of countryside. I have seen the hardships those beyond the safety of the castle walls must contend with. Show me, for I am keenly interested in the resolve of the unfettered soul.

Through the rumors, the mysterious new figurehead finally stands to address the crowd. The Duchess has extended an invitation to the people, for sake of assessing the situation, so to speak, all thinly disguised in a veil of festivities. She has asked that guests refrain from bringing weapons or armor- "I've had enough of fighting..." -and that gifts, while appreciated, are unnecessary, stating, "I am thankful enough to see justice met, let my gifts be to you."

Saturday, 3:00pm Central, at the Party Room in Falador

This is today, after a rescheduling from DXP!

At long last, the agreed deal between Asgarnia, Forinthry, and Tirannwn has come. The imports from Lletya have arrived, teleported in by threes to Falador Square, transported on wagons, lead by a single envoy and three guards. Several rounds of these were teleported in to Falador, each trundling their cart up in to the castle and then leaving empty. The crates were opened, the comparatively-worthless trade goods removed, the false bottoms opened and the armaments taken. Asgarnia has received a swathe of crystal weaponry used and re-sung from the Great Divide and the Elven Civil War. In exchange, Tirannwn and Forinthry have received unique Dwarven schematics and ore promissory notes equivalent to the worth of nearly 10M gold, to be delivered over time as recompense for the arms, in a 70-30 split.

Over the course of the next 5 days, Asgarnia's military will be familiarizing itself with these weapons in secret.

imagine a fractured nation with only 2 cities left and it's mines captured having 10 million gold sitting around to buy crystal weapons for an entire army when most nations that were completely stable and wealthy typically couldn't afford to maintain a large standing army let alone blow absurd amounts of gold on better kit for this standing army

Insert thinking emoji.

-Promissory notes, not physical items. Blueprints and schematics, as well. No physical gold traded.
-Specifically stated "to be delivered over time"
-Largest mine is literally under the city
-We've control of the major lore cities, with the only ones occupied and controlled by not-the-kingdom being landscaled ones that can honestly just go on forever, there's nothing stopping others, or us, from just going "oh yeah there are these [random city names] too" and so they aren't factored in

If you'd like to talk things out further, please see me in-game, otherwise don't post nitpicking comments structured as flamebait, thank you.

So let me get this straight, The Elves in Tirannwn, have decided to give an ARMY worth of crystal to two kingdoms, going against A LOT of in-lore supply on their crystal, but also giving it to a faction that god is against the opposite's god....... Yup Tirannwn no longer have that much crystal and the supply is on a huge demand. And they given it to an factino that might attack.

Rip the Elves.

Two kingdoms? What? No, it was ferried through Forinthry, it wasn't given to Forinthry. Forinthry was involved because the elves are unfamiliar with the human kingdom's teleports, and weren't going to risk trying to teleport the arms there directly in case they wind up *anywhere.* As for the rarity of their crystal, that lore was established all pre-Seren's return. I imagine that now, they're able to resupply lost seeds because it comes from Seren. The reason the arms supplied are specifically from the Great Divide and the Elven Civil War is because those weapons shed elven blood, they're considered blood-crystal now and aren't wanted. This is also Tirannwn starting to open its borders up to the rest of the world, as was started when the World Guardian was welcomed in to Prifddinas.

It's not insincere or illegitimate - I'm actually thanking you for the rp's and shit that fleshed Jeoffrey out as a character beyond just "guy that kills things". It's in no way meant to legitimize or pander to anybody. I know your stance on PoK's, I know your stance on this community, but the RP's we had and the stories that sourced from it had a big enough impact on the character that, with him being at the helm, I felt you at least deserved the shoutout for the enjoyable plots. I'm sorry that you don't like your name being up there, I'll take it down. If I knew that mentioning you even post-departure would be a problem, I'd never have done it in the first place. Sorry about that, Nat. The True Asgarnia -

The following is an IC letter addressing the public. It will be dispersed through the kingdom over the course of the next week and a half, allowing a grace period for people to actually receive it.

I'm not one for writing letters. I'm not even one for writing much, or doling out royal decrees left and right. I'll even go as far as to say I'm not one for nobility, the fancy clothes and the posh talk. It's not me. So why am I King? Why did I take the throne? Because the rebellions springing up, little and large, were only strengthening the hold Kandarin had on Asgarnia. Those of you who were up in arms in Lassaria, who sit down in southern Asgarnia chipping away at that mine, I want you to think long and hard about this. The Empire is at our door. All I've done so far is show them outside, in a method way less destructive and divisive than yours. I didn't have to kill or pillage, I didn't have to become another worry in the average joe's mind. I just had to pull some strings and put people in play that wouldn't let our kingdom collapse the moment Jacob left. I saved you, and I'm still trying to save you. I can't do that if you keep this up.

I was Sicarius once, yeah. It wasn't long-lived, but I kept the name for a while after. Yeah. I did that. I've been walking a straighter path ever since then. I helped shove the bandits out of Burthorpe, I helped fight back Sliske's forces, I tracked his nightmares down and I buried them. I've walked with you for years, and even recently I broke Volon's jaw and shut him up for good, let him rot wherever he lay. I hoped I proved myself a better man than I was last Age. Apparently I haven't.

That doesn't mean I'm moving on. The moment I step down, this kingdom collapses again. When it's stable, I'll go. You'll be rid of me. But for now,

I'll make this known. The rebel factions rising up and wrecking your homes, taking your resources all "in the name of Asgarnia", are doing nothing better than the Empire did as they shipped your taxes overseas and sucked Asgarnia for everything it has. These rebels are not your friend. They're blinded by patriotism and can't see that what they fought for is already here. So I will bring down my fist. I don't want to, but I will see these people gone. What good they might have done before is warped, now, and actively seeks to welcome the Empire back. Now is the time to turn your weapons outwards, away from your own kingdom and towards the foreign nations that seek to take everything from you. If you refuse.. I'm sorry.

Heavy lies the crown, but I must wear it.

Over the past few weeks, Camp Donblas' location has been slowly narrowed down. At first it was the rumors - Careless whispers near the wrong people, of a faction dedicated to patriotism. Plainclothed Knights with a curious inquiry were pointed the rough direction. From there, the assault on Rimmington Mine gave a clear trail back and forth from the camp to the mines as they collected their resources. Additionally, a careless spokeswoman arriving at a form of open court was identified, and the coordinates were locked. Camp Donblas had been located.
It happened, apparently, as they were just marching out to assault Rimmington. A lucky twist of fate had them unprepared, unexpecting, the large regimen of White Knights to step from the trees, surrounding them at all angles. Those that were armed found the crystal bows gifted from the Elves directed their way, shimmering emerald magic forming in the drawn strings. The families were escorted away to be questioned, comforted and returned to their homes. The rebels.. The blood that soaked the earth was that of patriotism gone wrong. Of misguided souls thinking themselves the heroes, when they were in fact the villains. The terrorist faction of Camp Donblas has been brought to an end, and the self-proclaimed Grey that lead them has served as the replacement of those he sought to bury.

It's with a heavy heart that a few Asgarnians were slain, but choices must be made. The number of people saved by this choice far surpass the number of headstones planted.

OOC section,

Camp Donblas attempted to metagame knowledge of Asgarnia sending a regimen of White Knights to eradicate the camp, after initially refusing to go IC. The only announcement made in regards to this assault before the roleplay, was an OOC message through discord. As such, the defeat of Camp Donblas has been carried out through their attempted meta. Sorry to everybody involved.

EDIT; This was in response to a screenshot that Marshal posted, that he apparently took down as I was writing this.

Camp Donblas had, for absolutely no reason without the metagamed knowledge, apparently hidden themselves in foxholes and blew their whole camp to high hell. This was on the scheduled day, same time, that Varis had told me..

Camp Donblas was set to attack Rimmington. At the same time, I was preparing my people to attack Camp Donblas, so I said we could just do them at the same time. As Camp Donblas would be preparing to assault Rimmington, they'd come under ambush by a regimen of 50 White Knights. Now, it makes absolutely no sense for a rebel faction ready to attack Rimmington, to bury themselves and blow their own camp up beforehand. Unless, of course, they metagamed the knowledge that they were being attacked. This is additionally after they gathered at Port Sarim as my side did, at 4pm EST, and refused to go in-character. I made it known to them that they were forfeiting by refusing to RP, so I continued to RP out the scenario, as a courtesy. Offering them the opportunity to go IC and change the pace.

Their response was to metagame. The exact worries I confessed to Varis in his thread "The Patriot", and on discord. He acknowledged that his side was metagaming, and very clearly decided that joining them in it was the best idea. So this is the outcome.

Sorry about people pestering you, Marshal. You weren't there at the RP, you weren't involved, you shouldn't have gotten spammed. As for how to work images on the forums, it's imgur-exclusive. you have to upload the picture to imgur, then open the image in a new tab. Up at the top, see an imgur link like

take that last bit, the 6vS3ECF.png, and put it in [mgur src=6vS3ECF.png] (spelled imgur, not mgur, I had to delete something to make it not bbcode.)

Name of Event:
The Future of Asgarnia
Location:
Falador Party Room
Time:
Wednesday, December 5th, 4pm EST
Description:
Much like Ashley Gremoire before this, Jeoffrey is using the Party Room as a stomping grounds for a form of open court. There he'll be welcoming peasant or prince, king or pauper, any and all inside the building to eat, drink, be merry, and ask their kingdom-related questions. He caught wind of some people bringing more large-scale questions regarding Asgarnia to Ashley, as opposed to things centered around Port Sarim, and so he figured it's time. Now, especially, the people will need answers - They will get them.
Any Special Considerations:
No Weaponry Allowed, No Armor Allowed (White Knights are exempt from this specific one), No Outside Food or Drink Allowed. The building will be teleblocked, with guards at the entrance.

I figure it's time Jeoffrey start doing more public things. He's been rather reserved during the threat of the rebellions, plotting out how to handle them and managing the Knight's training with their new arsenal. By now, it's no secret - Asgarnia has obtained a wealth of crystal weaponry for their army.

As voted for by the Asgarnian discord server, today we held some combat roleplay! Much like what I did with the White Knights of Falador some time back, I pit people against each other and observed their styles, helping me build a better case for teaching them individually in the future. Below are the evals of those who attended on such short notice, for recording purposes.

Nicolaus de Vauman
This one's interesting. Turned up offering to be a clandestine assassin of sorts. Efficient, restrained fighter with a knack for swordlocking, prioritizes the parrying dagger as an offense with the mainhand sword as defense and distraction. Very composed, which can prove weakness, acting on pure logic can be fooled and misguided. Future lessons will likely be having him lower the emotional barriers some, and to do more than weave in and out of sword locks. Baits and hit-and-runs would be an effective style.

Aeyla
The opposite, here. She's focused less on the dagger, using it as a surprise tool, while focusing on her mainhand sword. Tends to let the others lead the fight and taking openings when they present themselves, though she quickly dropped the pretense of the sparring when the possibility of her sword breaking came up. Will have to teach her how to control her temper in battle, at least for sparring, so she doesn't resort to verbal threats and cease all combat. Probably has a killer headbutt, should teach her to grapple through a swordlock.

Del
Powerful mage, no doubt, but effectively worthless in melee vs a trained warrior. Telegraphing all of her attacks, jump strikes, and very broad sweeping blows too close to the enemy. Very floaty, likes to take her time in avoiding and attacking, often making huge gaps in distance between herself and her opponent. Very used to the art of magic and how explosive it can be, her precautions are detrimental here. Teach her how to use every part of her weapon, and how to dodge while staying close.

Myself
fuckin' nailed it, cya later idiots

Oh, don't simplify it down to "advertising rp". It was a bit more than that, and you're well aware since you were playing the "crown of asgarnia" that the advertisement referred to - which is directly in conflict with the canon of this group. Don't come to my thread trying to start another argument, if you want to do that then make a new one specifically for arguing. The True Asgarnia -

Yesterday, the acolyte Icyene known as Noel Cuis succumbed to the demonic possession that'd been afflicting her for years. Caught attempting to summon a 'Master Demon' by Deliah, a brief scuffle occurred in the wilderness between the two before both warped to Falador. Noel entered in to the castle via a direct teleport and upon being recognized by Willow Konoe, severed the chancellor's arm. A much larger Icyene by the name of Varyss arrived in a clap of thunder and engaged the possessed Noel, causing considerable destruction to the castle's battlements in the process. The two hovered over the city in combat for a few minutes before Noel was forced to retreat.

The great black dragon that roosted over the city has taken off towards the south, presumably to retrieve the King for an emergency meeting. Noel's future is at stake, and the people of Falador have received a grim reminder that although their new King has brought about an end to many trials, there is always something new around the corner.

Hey, Warden! I'd appreciate it if you came and talked to me in-game. Unfortunately, that topic here is kind of flamebait - I'm glad it only got as far as this. But, since it's here, let me type up an explanation. Starting with the process of "taming" an adult dragon.

As we know through the Dragonkin and Ilujankan lore, the Ilujanka (Dragonriders) are the only creatures capable of talking to and calming down adult dragons. However, this is only the case for feral, wild-grown dragons - It also gives us the knowledge that dragons are sentient and coherent when their rage subsides.

While killing dragons through PvM, you have the rare chance of receiving a dragon egg as a drop. If you take that dragon egg to an incubator (one exists in Taverley), you can put it in there and leave it pretty much indefinitely - The incubator emulates the intense heat of the nest dragons choose (normally around lava). You can then take and raise that dragon, from the moment it hatches to just barely over an infant stage (it'll come up to around the player thighs when "fully" grown.) From this, barring the "game mechanic" argument, we can assume that dragons raised from hatching don't follow the same rules as wild, feral dragons. Additionally, with 99 summoning, you can even talk to your dragon. This idea is supported further through the use of Player-Owned Farms, where you can have actual fully-grown dragons tamed and domesticated.

Because of this, I don't believe the actual possession of and use of dragons in roleplay is exactly lorebreak. (Coincidentally, the person subtly shaming me over this here roleplays the head of a family that's used a dragon for almost a decade, and only stopped when the person who roleplayed that dragon left the game.)

Cont. in next post.

That roughly covers the game-lore side of things. Past that, I have to explain how I acquired a dragon.

Around the start of January 2016, Jagex implemented a teaser for Sliske's Endgame, and began the official start of the plotline that'd lead to it. This came in the form of a giant mockery of Guthix's Sword of Edicts being planted in the middle of the Grand Exchange, a scoreboard that kept tally of how many gods each god has killed. I think direct kills were 2 points and assists were 1 point. A lot of roleplayers decided to host events and wars alongside this, and from what I remember almost all of it took place around Falador, where Nat Renderra orchestrated a lot of it. Old names like Chunk and the remnant WOTD roleplayers joined the Sliske side, and.. well, you get the idea. It was a big long war that happened over the course of a few months. Falador got hit and terrorized by a large black dragon named Skraegorn, presumably wighted (though that was never elaborated on) to give Sliske's chosen general control over the beast. Skraegorn died after a while, and then came the task of following the retreating forces and killing them. Jeoffrey, Thalia, Nova, and a couple of others (I can't remember all of them) followed after one such person, named "The Dollmaker". It was a pretty fun plotline and it took us all the way through this booby-trapped mansion. Jeoffrey went kind of off-pace searching for more clues, and lead everybody down in to a dungeon where a bunch of monsters were held in cages. A weakened Chthonian Duke, a bunch of "dolls" and then in one cage was a lava-trenched pit containing a dragon egg. Jeoffrey picked the lock, retrieved the egg, it hatched in his hands and he crammed it in his backpack and carried on with the plotline. He raised the dragon in mostly-secret in Morytania and then, after it grew to its full height, he went through the process of killing and wighting it so he'd have control over it.

Cont, again? Wow I'm typing a lot.

The dragon was obtained legitimately and through the course of a long public plotline where anybody could have been the one to obtain the dragon, and they could have chosen to either kill it, or keep it.

The final topic is whether or not it's morally right, as a roleplayer, to actually use a domesticated adult dragon in roleplay. My answer to that is, why wouldn't it be? Used responsibly, it can be an awesome driver of a plotline, it's a really awesome way to travel and it overall just adds badass points to the character that controls it. Before any arguments of "inappropriate use" comes up, I haven't actually used the dragon in any offensive manner. There's been no case of it coming around and incinerating any opposition, there's been no examples where I just have it land in the middle of a scene and completely take over. However, there is currently, right now as I'm typing this, a plot going on in Asgarnia where the Duchess of Sarim is using it as part of a driving reason to start a cold-war against the crown. Civilians are uneasy, both at just the presence of it and the name of the beast (also Skraegorn), since it reminds them of the god war (2: electric boogaloo).

The use of this dragon IC is moderately supported by the lore and mechanics of the game, the method in which I obtained my dragon is fair, legitimate and came from sidetracking the plot (which means the whole thing wasn't built around giving a dragon to an rper), and the actual use of it is for driving conflict, providing a baseline for rumors and gossip, and because it's fucking cool.

Any further concerns about it, please PM me in game, I'd be more than happy to talk to you about it, WardenofW42!

I think it's very bold to say that I don't have intent behind the tool. I mean, just from the various posts Ashtorette has made in reference to it, the intent behind the tool (or one of the intents) is entirely under way. It's one of the causes of a cold war going on between my character and his appointed duchess. It's causing unrest in the city, it's a talking point and something that adds some great flavor to descriptions of the city. However, that power that a dragon represents? The domination? That's kind of the whole point of it being shown off in such a flashy way. It gives characters (And, if they feel like respecting it), the players themselves something to really compare the character to. Instead of them standing alone and saying, themselves, "hey look i'm dangerous", you now have them standing beside a dragon, and now you yourself can go "hey look he's dangerous".

It's an addition to the narrative of the kingdom, it's an addition to the controlling character's accomplishments, and most importantly? It's something to respond to in-character. Be they (the king) a hero, villain, tyrant or saint, they have a dragon. How does your character feel about that, how does your character react to this knowledge? There's too much of a focus on the OOC of it here.

(I also have a pet in-game to represent it, so there's some visual medium as well, instead of me constantly trying to describe what it looks like, where it is, etc etc. In case that was a concern in your post.)

Ahhh, lorebreak.. I love that term when turned towards PoK's. Can I run some things by?

-Kandarin is currently, and for the longest of times i mean seriously I don't remember a time where there wasn't at least one person from this group maintaining the idea that they ran it, run by a secretly-zarosian family of extremely powerful battlemages with a fully-customized spellbook, with the most iconic being a purple version of the saradomin strike called "Blitzen" magic. Imagine Force Lightning. Additionally, they've been attempting a global conquest for a while. You know, like Ardougne is known to do in lore? All of this?

-The first recorded instances of Asgarnian PoK systems were lead by Zamorakians. Seriously, go to this page and look at it. Straight-up zamorakians, most of them Mahjarrat, and they came back around too. Multiple times.

-The Fremennik lands have been genocided more times than can reasonably be counted and it wound up becoming a meme.

-Just a few months ago, there was a Morytanian PoK that didn't have Vanescula Drakan at the very top of everything. The Drakan family has been the dominant, unshakeable powerhouse of Vyre civilization and despite only one known one remaining, the rule still applies.

Additionally, there is a previous example of someone trying long-term to play off the fact that Saradomin is sitting in the castle and basing the structure of their Asgarnian group off of it. That was called "The Hub" and the term "Hub" became an insult when levied against any faction, with the most common complaint being that "We shouldn't recognize the Gods actually being present in their locations because it stifles creative freedom with the regions."

The entire basis for player-owned kingdoms is lorebreak. It's also been the thing our community is based on. Forgive me for shirking that in the favor of exciting plot twists and challenges that people actually involved in my group are interested in, and like the idea of.

Oh, additionally, since I ran out of room in the previous post;

-The group currently controlling Kandarin, the Vekons, my first and most memorable experience with them was when I first joined w42, when they invaded Falador, sat their own dragon on top of the castle, and then used it to torch half the city and suppress any rebellions.

Honestly. I'm not doing anything new, and what I'm doing is the least questionable thing that's happened in the history of Asgarnia alone, nevermind the entire history of the community. The problem people have is that I'm the person doing it, and let me assure you it's not because I don't know how to write a story. But that's something to additionally discuss in-game, because it just leads in to more flamebait.

EDIT; My link in the above post didn't work.

(I think Jagex gave an o-kay to us linking the RSRP wiki, if an f-mod says no then please just comment on it and I'll remove it the moment I see it. I'll be sleeping shortly.)

Of course it makes perfect sense, that's how you believe it should be done. Does it make it any less lore-break? Not in the slightest. It's just lorebreak you're willing to put up with because it helps you drive a story that you're interested in.

Necromancy being lorebreak? I'm not so sure about that one. I mean, I totally believe that it was considered lorebreak. But I also know that necromancers, zombies, skeletons, and the like have existed since the start of runescape, and that necromancy is just not a skill players can learn in rs3, not something that's not part of the game. There are whole wars and quests based around it.

I've also very in-detail explained the practice behind taming dragons, and continuing on that topic would just be repeating all of that. Whether or not it's undead is semantics - If what I said isn't enough to convince you that the presence and use of the dragon IC is fair, legitimate and interesting, then it being alive or undead is kind of pointless to bring up, right? You're going to disagree either way.

Additionally, please know that I'm not doing anything because it's been done in the past. I'm using the past as a point of reference, to show that such things have been done, and not only accepted but happily represented and supported, even now. For example, the Vekons are still around, still using their custom book, still run by a mortal man who's unreasonably strong for a public RP character, and yet....

Finally, whether or not things like rp'ing Mahjarrats was a mistake is a point of contention. I know that the yearly Rituals were a celebrated thing, and that there are a lot of things that are heavily restricted in ways that really just stifles the creative options and available assets of the game, almost cramming RSRP down in to generic medieval fantasy RP instead of the actual world of Runescape that it's set in.

See, I was about to answer Warden really politely and explain things further, but thanks for jumping in with subtle hostility - I don't believe at any point in this discussion I was insulting your RP group, only drawing comparisons. Sorry if you took offense to that, but I'm not really going to respond to the rest of your post because that offense really shows in a lot of it. Instead, I'll just answer with, every single thing I do, all of its components, have sources in the runescape canon, game mechanics, or other tidbits of lore. From my very first character all the way up until now, I've carefully been selecting examples of things happening from the lore of the game, or the lore of the books, and save for the PoK-community canon (which I've already mentioned is 100% lorebreak in its entirety, so anything relating to that is by-default lorebreak), I haven't gone outside the realm of runescape. Thank you for your contribution!

The discussion is now over. At this point it's reaching in to flamebait and subtle aggression, and I'm not looking for another two pages of hidden messages. Thank you.

Really, really think about that one for a moment. If you can somehow convince yourself that is reasonable, lorebreak or not, I will eat my own boot.

We here in the roleplay server, in this roleplay group, like to handle roleplay events through roleplay! I should note that the dragon is NOT some decayed, rotting corpse laying on top of Saradomin giving out this epic aura of decay. I should also note that we do NOT recognize Saradomin as literally sitting in the castle (Something that you, and in fact *the other canon* screamed at Nat over doing the opposite when she was in charge. I like how reverse that is now. Back then it was a problem he was there, because it stopped things like.. uh.. invasion. And only invasion. Because all that was wanted, was invasion. Now, it's NOT a problem because it helps.. uh.. takeover. And only takeover.)

The presence of the dragon is intentionally a point of contention in-character. I'm sorry that you, someone who made such a VERY GRAND POINT of not RPing with us to the degree that you ignored and nullified Ash's earlier decrees against Kandarin presence in the port post-my-takeover, feel the best way to handle a plot point that you are not a part of is to complain about it OOC. Honestly, I'm really sorry for that.

1. Zarosian Empire? Assuming you're referring to Kandarin, you'll be hard pressed to find anyone ICly that views the Empire as anything but Saradominists. \

Oh hey! That's actually kind of funny, the same example is going on here. You'll be very hard pressed to find ANY example of the dragon, or the King for that matter, being undead like you're parroting constantly here and in-game. Unless of course you shot them both in the head, which is a very Salem way to go about that.

However, you're focusing on the OOC side of things. Purely and strictly OOC, you're just waving it around to disregard and discredit the goings-on. So, the same thing was just done. Your empire is Zarosian. Why were you allowed to have ANY kind of presence in the kingdom? It's weird, right?

Take your very very aggressively-written self off my thread now, Gale. Go ahead and bump YOUR thread, wherever that is (page 16 last time I checked!) and have this debate there. Take it away from my thread. Final warning.

Description
: Consider it a bounty hunting trip. Of very high value and dangerous targets as Nadia continues to learn about her life before her memory wipe. Targets will be difficult to tackle, but the rewards will be quite available to act as payment. Hopefully.
Any Special Considerations

Original message details are unavailable.
That's not true. The dragon was used to siege the castle (which was entirely accepted by the PoK owner) and, following the siege, the dragon promptly left to go about his business. "Half the city and suppress any rebellions" is very exaggerated. Do keep in mind, you often-times roleplayed with this very dragon alongside Molly.

And, in this, the PoK owner is accepting the dragon (it's me!) And, I wasn't talking poorly about your dragon. I was talking about the hypocrisy in the Vekon leader complaining about the dragon while leading a family that very famously used the dragon offensively against another kingdom.

Original message details are unavailable.
Might I also add, if your dragon is in fact perched atop your keep to sit and look cool, the dragon isn't performing as they naturally should by lore. As we all know, dragons have an innate bestial rage. Intrinsically, they are psychotic and sociopathic with dark, morbid personalities -- the only one immune to that is Mr. Mordaut, and that is due to his mixed parents; he is a hybrid, although retains more physical traits of a red dragon.

Already covered that, but thank you. Also, the newest expansions on Ilujankan lore show that the rage is just a curse from the Stone of Jas, that the dragons , and is something that the Dragonkin haven't been able to break without either tying the Dragons to another "master", or entirely neutering their combat abilities in general (Mr Mordaut).

This topic has been covered, and covered to death, here and in-game and on other threads. The opinions have been made known, and you can silently pick one, instead of continuing it every few weeks here. The responses won't change.
