In-Character Introduction

<><><><><>

A lone castle stands upon a moor of green brachen and purple heather, across it comes a band of several footmen out of the nearby wood. They make their way across the wide expanse and up to the castle gate. They have come far and are without much patience. The chief among them calls out.

"Ho there! We are few in number and have come far. We seek guest right."

there is a silence and then a reply from atop the castle wall...

...As I cam by the Garioch land

And doon by Netherha'

There were fifty thoosan Hielanmen

A-marchin tae Harlaw.

Chorus
Singin didee-i-o,

Sing fal la do,

Sing didee-i-o-i-ay.

'It's did ye come fae the Hielans, man,

An did ye come a' the wey,

An did ye see MacDonald an his men

As they marched frae Skye?'

'It's I come fae the Hielans, man,

An I come a' the wey -

An I saw MacDonald an his men

As they marched frae Skye.'

'It's wis ye near and near enough,

Did ye their number see?

Come tell to me, John Hielanman,

What might their number be?'

'For I was near and near enough

An I their number saw:

There were fifty thoosan Hielanmen

A-marchin tae Harlaw.'

Arms and Armor

Scotland was often considered the poorest nation in Europe, historically. During the middle ages only the highest ranking among the nobility wore expensive clothing, though Scotland's climate may have played a bigger part where that is concerned. Regardless, do not dress in the gaudy silks and satins that the landed classes of Kandarin, Misthalin, or Southern Asgarnian citizenry are often caught wearing.

As for armor, even the chieftain only wears a coat of rusted chainmail and a bassinet into battle. Chainmail coats are, in fact, generally considered the main armor of the clansman, but some deviations work too such as padded, leather, and ringmail. When traveling a highlander would likely not have any armor with them and would therefore fight in their kilt or simply without clothing altogether.

Armor and Clothing
-Kilts and plaid dress for men and for women*
-chainmail coats
-padded armor
-ringmail coats
-hard-leather coats

Arms and Armor Continued

Finally, weaponry is rather straitforward - just about anything a peasant can get their hands on. But that is the benefit of being a highland peasant, you often have access to your lairds armory or a family weapon or even still the skill, resources, and lawful right to make one. Pitchforks and shovels are fair use, but the legitimate highland warriors of the mid-late medieval period often owned a special type of Scottish greatsword called a "claymore". Rather shorter in length than the average greatsword of its day, it was a good compromise for use on both the low-lying battlefield and the rocky Highland terrain. Highlanders are were often considered shock troops, good for charging and breaking an enemy into a rout by causing mass confusion and disorder. Highlanders were equally as good at receiving a charge, masters of the long "lochaber axe", pyke/spear, and claymore. These were all long weapons, meant to be wielded by able men and capable of taking down cavalry and armored knights alike. Later, during the Jacobite Rebellions, Scots used a combination of Broadsword, targe (small leather-bound shield with a spike protruding from the center), and dirk (held in the off hand behind the targe.

Weaponry

+Lochaber Axes (Scottish great axe/halberd with hook on end to trip an enemy up.)
+Claymores (Scottish medieval greatswords varying in size.)
+great axes
+longswords
+Basket-Hilted Broadswords
+Dirks
+hand/war axes
+pikes/spears
+bows of varying sizes and abilities

Territory

The ancestral lands are traditionally considered to be the swath of land from the tower where Rupert is imprisoned in "Grim Tales" north to the wilderness wall, and south to the ridge that overlooks lower Asgarnia or "The Lowlands". East and west to Goblin village and the Ice Mountain Range.

This land is known as "Glen Chassan" and is landscaled as such. There is a castle in the glen that acts as the current seat of the clan. Ice Mountain is considered The Ice Mountain Range, all land between it and the "White Wolf Mountain Range" is considered the Asgarnian "Highlands". There are several oocly inactive clans that inhabit the area, Clans Rose and Kohtlund.
