I think I've found a pretty incredible mass of people who want to see the end of POK's, and the subsequent use of NPC's as rulers. The same sentiment keeps floating around, though; "This won't happen. People won't give up their land."

I'm willing to give up Camelot before I pass it on, and set up an NPC rulership there, if the other POK leaders follow along with this movement.

Nat, on the Asgarnian side, is also willing to also give up her POK and set up an NPC ruler in her stead (Though she told me to not include Asgarnia among the listing until Aro confirms he/she is down too).

Gale is willing to abolish his own POK if everyone else is- whether you recognize him as head of Ardy or not, that at least includes Yanille, and that's progress.

Nick, the head of Kharid, has given a 'maybe' on abolishing his own POK. This answer, in my opinion, would probably lead to him abolishing it anyways if the other POK's followed through.

These are kingdoms almost ready to set up NPC rulers.

I already know most of the community is down with abolishing POK's; how do the other POK holders feel? (Justin, Logan, Steve, Aro, etc)

If we get their agreement, we can make this a reality.

I'd agree if not for the fact that when PoK's were removed, the area still fell into stagnation. The history of this community has always been embroiled in PoK's. With or without activity. I've grown quite tired of ranting about the community's decline so I'll sum it up pretty easily.

If you want this place to grow and maintain roleplay, how about removing the outside sources of communication like Skype, Discord, etc.? The most active the community has ever been was before these social media sites and it's always seemed like they only exist primarily to give lonely people friends and share memes.

I'd have to consult with James on the matter and take into account historical factors of this move and see how the clan feels.

In my own opinion, having fun is the most important part of W42. If people get that from messing around on Skype and Discord, I can't judge too much- and I especially won't judge if they're doing so while not claiming to be the GM of a chunk of land.

We can talk about that after you speak with James, though.

The subgroups of 42 are what gives breath to the most activity; groups like The White Knights, Kinshra, Chosen Battalion, and the several Guilds popping up draw activity. Even noble Houses and families. Removing PoKs will feed into that growth and instead of bickering over OOC politics, real RP can be made.

Whether acknowledged or not, our Kandarin has been fairly active by 42's standards, and I'm sure my clan will back me in the choice I'm making. I already have plans, ideas and plots that will further this, and give reasoning for my own character to pass the mantle to an NPC. It's an easy decision to make, really.

Few problems with this.

First, I asked you not to post anything about Asgarnia on this until Aro posted the announcement.

Second, ain't my clan. In light of all the God stuff stifling throne room-related plots, Asgarnia needed a change. I mentioned to the other Admins and leaders TODAY about potentially doing it. We agreed. Sharne, our big-wig and IC Queen, agreed.

Third, whether anyone else is doing this or not, Asgarnia is. We have nothing to lose out of it. All of us are sick of OOC-based politics and just want to do some plots and focus in. By switching to NPCs, we ditch the throne room crap, and get into the nitty-gritty of stuff.

Lorewise, we have an excuse. Saradomin, Armadyl, and Zamorak all are sitting around in Asgarnia. We're either stuck acknowledging the Gods, and thus their power to rule over us, or ignoring them like filthy lore-breakers.

We're continuing our Noble-Based RP. But only because it does do good for plots. Our main concern is making sure Asgarnia is an open, plot area.

I just really wish you didn't run out to make this announcement before Aro posted ours, especially because you didn't post this until after it was mentioned ingame. But, whatever. Cats out of the bag now.

I personally hope POKs remain, but there's a case against keeping them. Keep in mind that while I'm back on the forums, I'm not yet roleplaying in the community - and it has always been my view that those who want to give their input but not roleplay, can have their input ignored because they have no credible grasp on how things are actually going on. Since I really have no clue how POKs are operating now compared to when I was last around in-game, I don't expect anyone who disagrees to give a rebuttal.

While I prefer things being familiar to how I remember them, if there is inter-POK conflict to the point that it keeps pressing on community interactions and may leave people feeling like they're walking on eggshells, I could use that tension as a reason to say, ''we're taking POKs away until we think we can try this again and not have such a severe outcome.''

I could try countering that, looking back at my GW2 experiences, and how what we would call NPC rulers took away a sense of any urgency in combat: if the kingdom would always have the same ruler, the kingdom would always be there and conflicts became comparatively minor compared to w42, where a kingdom (or kingdoms) could all be at risk. I personally found the w42 conflicts to actually seem to be worth something, something my characters could get behind. The ability to really lose - lose a town, a kingdom, a character - gave a thrill I couldn't find in GW2 RP.

So the more IC risk, the greater OOC maturity seems to be required. If your character can't die, or you can't truly lose ground to the invading army, you really aren't going to be in a situation that demands maturity. But if you have characters and the places they live at stake? That is more demanding. So while I love the risk factor, it looks like not everyone is able to handle it. I personally hope POKs remain, but from what I've said, there's a case against keeping them.
