If Retro items are in more popular demand than your shadow gorilla, then the retro items should take priority because they're more profitable for Jagex to work on.

Indeed, but as we have seen, no new retro cosmetics have come out in a long time, so they aren't in popular demand.

Players are customers. Players want cosmetics that please them. If they would prefer one cosmetic over another cosmetic, Jagex should spend time doing what players want them to. Jagex should not spend time working on something that pleases only a few people, such as the shadow gorilla. Instead, they should focus on Retro items as they are in higher demand.

And where are you basing this information on that the retro cosmetics are in higher demand than e.g. the gorilla? Neither have come out because neither are in high demand, so stop being butthurt when someone doesn't like your taste.

If you don't like my tastes, that's fine, I'm not gonna attack you if you come to my thread and say no support to it, because I realize that people want different things. Grow up and accept criticism.

Funny you talk about being butthurt, considering your reputation on the RSOF :P

I didn't know I was famous, cheers for letting me know, bratan.

Now, did you have anything to add to the actual discussion we were just having...?

So, what is my point in this list, you ask? Compare the results for yourself. There are 13 threads asking for or suggesting retro-style items, compared to only 3 Shadow Gorilla threads - one of which was made by Draco.

Clearly, Retro items are in far greater demand than Shadow Gorilla outfits. That is not to say that your feedback is meaningless - because no feedback is meaningless. What it does mean, however, is that retro items are in far greater demand than a gorilla pet would be, and that Jagex would have a better vested interest in working on Replica items than new products. If you choose to go against the masses and still want your shadow pet, then great, more power to you, but don't try to claim that you speak for everyone in saying retro items are not wanted - because statistics show that retros are more in demand.

Alright, professional talk finally. Now, before I begin my part again, a couple facts from my end:

1. I never said the gorilla was in higher demand than the retro stuff; the 2 things I said were that I'd prefer the gorilla myself, and that neither of them is in high enough demand.

2. Whether or not the gorilla ever comes out, I really don't care; if it does, I'll buy it, if it doesn't, whatever. But if more retro things come out, I dislike how they don't fit the game IMO, hence why I always say no support to them (along with other reasons).

===

Okay good, so you dug up threads for both sides, and it indeed seems to look as though the retro stuff are more wanted... BUT!

Do you know what a certain key difference is between the various retro suggestions you dug up, and the gorilla?

...

Answer: Jagex already confirmed that they have been working on the gorilla, whereas AFAIK, they haven't said anything about working on more retro cosmetics (or at least, they haven't said which ones, so people suggest everything to be sure their need is heard).

Why does this matter? Simple: if we know that the gorilla is coming, why should we bother making threads about it? Sure, some people might get impatient and inquire about when it's coming, but most have probably forgotten about it on their short memory or are patient and just wait.

Now I think that should be all about that (if not, ask me again), so let me talk about the support/no support again, because that's why this started: there are 3 people who support and 3 people who don't support ITT. If we who didn't support simply stayed out, there'd be 3 supports and nothing else, meaning a sample size of 3 with 100% positive reception. Adding 3 no supports to that increases the sample size and changes its reception rating, making it more accurate. This is why even not supporting matters.

To add further, you might ask "but what does negative reception matter if the positive reception is high?", here's an example: let's say there are 2 suggestions, one with 40k supports and other with 30k supports. Neither has no-supporters, because doing so isn't allowed. If you were Jagex, you'd make the 40k support suggestion, right?

Now take that same situation again, but allowing no-supporting: let's say that the suggestion with 40k supports has also 20k no-supports, while the 30k supports suggestion has only 2k no-supports. Which one as Jagex would you make now?

I think the simple answer to your response is that if people cared greatly about the shadow gorilla (As you and Draco do), then it wouldn't have escaped their short-term memory. In the case of people who want Retro items, it's been a significant amount of time since the last time Jagex mentioned it, but people are still wanting more.

Most people who supported Shadow Gorilla essentially said, "Oh, that's nice, I'll buy it when it comes out," and then forgot about it. On the other hand, a lot of people who are in favor of Retro items have stood their ground and routinely inquired about it, even without Jagex bringing it up.

From an outside perspective, it looks pretty clear (to me, at least). There are more people who actively express an interest in Retro items than there are people who actively express an interest in the Shadow Gorilla pet. If Jagex's marketing experts were to take a look at this, from a business perspective it'd make more sense to release Retro items over Shadow Gorilla because there is more "hype" about them than there is about the Shadow Gorilla.

Of course, this does not imply "Retro is in high demand," it just implies that Retro is in higher demand than Shadow Gorilla. There are other factors to consider, for example - other products that are neither Retro nor Pet-based. In fact, there are more people suggesting entirely new ideas (Including, regrettably, Anime School-Girl outfits >.>;) than there are either Retro or Pets. Retro is in no way the thing that is in the highest demand, it's lower than a lot of other ideas. However, it still represents a significant number of recent threads, and I feel Jagex would be wise to invest some time in it.
