I'm curious as to why you think it seems misplaced?

I think that it's more appropriate for someone to create their own thread if they want to offer a service like that. The whole point of BD# is to be a game of sorts, not a place to go and ask for a signature or a logo. There are plenty of longstanding threads set up for those purposes and it'd be more appropriate to link to those threads or new service threads as they arise.

By the way, if for some reason this all does happen, don't change the thread name. Leave it exactly as it is.

Ever wondered why it's Draw #ere! and not Draw 'ere!? Simple typo, but it's one that has become Forum lore!

Oh god no, if I do recreate this, I intend on keeping as much as possible. Same title, same intro, same rules. I generally hate change, so I'd want to keep as much as possible.

Again, it would be very informal. Like, I don't think it would even be a form, but rather something like this:

"Looking for a logo for your clan thread? Try asking another artist here for help! One of us may already have a logo drawn that fits your need, or maybe we'll even draw you one from scratch. Just post saying what you want in the logo, what it will be used for, how big you want it, and anything else you can think of. We can't guarantee that someone will be able to draw something for you, but it's worth a shot. :) "

Something along those lines…

It's a shame to lose some drawings, even if the font update has ruined most of them. However, I'm personally more worried about losing the sticky status if the thread looks inactive. I could well imagine a Jmod "routine check" for "unnecessary" stickies after someone has complained. If the thread is from 2016, it would be less likely that they remove the sticky.

But as long as we continue to have two sticky threads (Guide to Signature Making and Bored? Draw #ere! or similar), I'll be happy.

I'm starting to warm up to the direction in which this discussion is going. I do think a logo request form could be valid on the thread, as it brings in more activity to the BD#. At the same time, such requests also bring more activity to Forum Games, since several players probably don't venture here very often.

As for history, I think it's a great idea. During my heydays, I actually started writing a history but lost all my files when my computer was stolen... :/ Now my memory is very fuzzy but I'm sure if we put our noggins together we could do a fairly acceptable job.

I'm totally solid on my memory of 2010 and early 2011. Pre 2010 I know a little bit, but you, Long, and Sam probably know a bit more. 2012 was pretty much a dead year, I never came on and I'm pretty sure I didn't miss anything :P Once the new stickies came around in 2013, a lot of us started coming back.

I started ASCII in 2006 and there were still artists before me, before unaligned art was even a thing and everyone did aligned. Not sure how we'll cover that. :P But I think Long was around then?

I was around at least as early as 2004 (I remember one of my first drawings being on page 4 of the original BD# sticky, in June of 2004) but my memory is pretty fuzzy. I could come up with a reasonable summary of those early years, but it's not going to have many artist names - mostly just the origin and early years of the BD# threads. I'll start writing that up now. :P

Edit: Alright, I have what I can remember. I'll save it for when we start putting the history together - unless I should just go ahead and post it now?

It's not much, but it's something. Feel free to correct me or add information if anything is incomplete or incorrect.

The original BD# thread was created by Wadawada2 in Off Topic, as early as 2004 and possibly earlier. The tradition of having BD# stickies started there in Off Topic - though I don't know whether the original was ever stickied. Once Forum Games was created, the thread became a sticky in that forum. The early BD# threads used to credit Wadawada2, but eventually that bit was removed. I also don't think the # was actually a typo - a Jagex mod mentioned that only in one of the latest versions of the thread, but it resembles an H and it's an art thread, so I'm pretty sure that was intentional.

The only artists I can remember back then are myself and Nero 5. Nero 5 had his own guide called "~ Ultimate Drawing Guide ~", and it must have been one of the first of the many ascii guides created over the years*

**# was very active in these early years. Lots of people new to the thread would come in and try to draw something - only to have it mess up because the drawing would come out different once it was posted. I created a very basic guide (2005?) and reposted it in the thread so often that it was included in the front page of the next BD# (at the recommendation of a forum mod, I think). That guide stayed there for years, even after it was rendered obsolete due to font changes, and it was only removed in 2014 when Jameo50 created the next BD# with his own guide.

I don't remember when - 2005 or 2006 maybe? - but tracing (or "painting", as it was later known as) became a trend; people would take an image, paste it into paint, then draw over it. If this was frowned upon when it began, I never noticed; I did it myself and taught others how to do it. One of the years when I popped in after being away for a while, the attitude toward tracing seemed to have changed: it was very much discouraged.
