What are strange rocks?
They are part of the Shattered Heart D&D. They can be found randomly while skilling. Each skill has 2 rocks.

Once a rock is obtained, the second becomes 2x rarer until you get a rock from another skill.

They are used to complete a statue in the varrock museum, awarding xp based on rocks added (agility rocks give agility xp for example), 10 kudos first time completing a statue and a replica part every complete statue.
30 replica parts allow you to create your own statue in you POH Study.

There is an elven version of this D&D with gold rocks instead and are gathered using different skills.

To start getting gold rocks you need to talk to Auron Ithell located at the tower of voices, near the statue plinth.

You can track your progress at max guild's replica.
Completing all 32 statues unlocks a title.

Only 1 statue may be built each week. Gold statues have no limit

Citadels can be used to get rocks.

Voice of seren doubles golden rock chances for the clan's skills.

Mining

Speed: Chance per rocks is timed, not per ore so all methods have equal speed. Seren stones will minimize time wasted from movement or item dropping as they never run out of ore and the ore stacks in inventory.
Essence mines with abyssal titan scrolls is equally efficient, allowing you to mine non stop without interruptions.
XP: Living rock caverns, Seren stones
Money: Living rock caverns, Coal, Gold, Mithril, Adamant, Rune...

Smithing

Speed: Iron, silver or gold bars. Cannon balls with morytania legs. Smithing 1 bar items.
XP: Platebody smithing. Gold bars with gold smith gauntlets
Money: Cannonballs. Smelting any bar except gold.
Smelt the ore you have obtained from the mining strange rocks.

Fishing

Speed: Chance per rocks is timed, not per catch so all methods have equal speed. Fly fishing does not yield rocks.
XP: Monkfish
Money: Rocktail, Shark, Cavefish

Cooking

Speed: Any food
XP: The highest level you have access
Money: Low level fish such as trout or shrimp.
Cook the fish you caught for fishing rocks

Firemaking

Speed: Make multiple fires instead of bonfire
XP: Burn the best logs you can, jadinko lair
Money: Jadinko lair is free, willow and maple logs are cheap to burn

Woodcutting

Speed: Chance per rocks is timed, not per log so all methods have equal speed.
XP: Ivy, Arctic pines, willow trees
Money: Yew, Magic, Elder trees
.

XP: Cut the best logs you can
Money: Cut willow or maple logs. Selling them to a general store will make more money than selling to grand exchange

Plants that provide xp to other skills (fly traps, barberries, sunchoke and prickly pears) are not recommended due to their small harvests.

Construction

Speed: Any method that only uses 2 materials
XP: Mahogany planks
Money: Limestone fireplaces

Hunter

Speed: Falconry
XP: Jadinkos
Money: Skillchompas or grenwalls
.

Money: Gather and convert memories into energy

Dungeoneering:

Speed: Finish complexity 1 floors

Slayer

Speed: Use low level slayer such as taverly and canifis masters. Slayer contracts can also be used, particularly crawling hands for fast kills.
XP: Use the best slayer master you got available
Money: Picking the drops allows you to gain money while gathering rocks

Combat
- Likely to get some of them off the slayer task
Their combat style determines the rock gained.
Only charm droppers can give rocks.
- Melee = Kill melee opponents, usually weak to magic
- Ranged = Kill ranged opponents, usually weak to melee
- Magic = Kill magic opponents, usually weak to ranged
There may be some exceptions to this.
Opponents with multiple combat styles may drop multiple rocks, though not all will do.
Speed: Kill low level monsters. Burthope level 2 trolls at the cave north of troll invasion are good for this.
XP: Kill high level monsters or bosses.
Money: Picking the drops allows you to gain money while gathering rocks

XP: High level pouches
Money: Low level pouches are usually cheaper to make.
Spirit terrorbirds are recommended as they have a small shard cost, require gold charms and their ingredient can be bought in large amounts at Oo'glog for a cheap price.

that one is good, but flax (with seers)/battlestaffs have less delay each which makes them faster rocks and better xp for battlestaffs aswel.

The advantage with gold jewelry is that it can be obtained while doing smithing (even mining if you mine the ores by yourself)
