Hello and welcome to my merching thread. Below is a guide I hant wrote myself to help users with forum selling bulk items. The guide explores how to maximise sales and communicate with customers in a effective manner to ensure they are pleased and also you turn a goof profit.

This guide is free to all users to use and share, please credit upon sharing <3

[1] - Behaviours and understanding the limit of your customers.

Merching bulk items often relies on understanding what a customer is willing to pay. By understanding your customer you are able to ensure you get the best value for your products.
What I look for in each customer -
Stats (What skill are they asking for and does their supply demand match the xp needed? you don't want to give your prices to spies (*)
How did this person find you? If on forums what other prices are visible there? Charging 160 for a broad set when another title says 129 isn't smart...

(*) Often forum sellers will PM you asking prices so they can undercut your prices. Stat checking a user can help defend against this, you are free to reply with a false price, i usually look at their forum posts by searching their username and if they merch, i will lie about my price being either really low or high so they undercut me but are still more expencive. With new forum sellers like yourself, id probably lie and say a low price and then buy off you from an alt :-P.

[2] Knowledge is key!
Know your product, know your rates.
When you sell skilling supplies know the XP rates. Being a knowledgable seller displays experience and skill.
Controlling a sale as well can be a key to being able to maximise profit from a sale. A good example of this is offering to calc the xp for a customer.
Often when i sell broad sets i offer to calc for the customer. It's pretty simple to do
Outfits are 6% when full
Avatar is 6%
Portables usually ALWAYS have pulses, so add 10%
Portables also are 10% more xp
That's a 1.32 multiplier to xp. So broad sets are 15 xp per set but now 19.8 xp per set.

When you have control of a customers maths, they arent able to check the prices and this helps you charge what you want.
Yes this guide contains a lot of manipulation. But that's how you maximise profits.

[3] False Discounts

Offer false discounts to bring customers in, it works always. Your local shop with that big red $1 sign for a limited edition chocolate bar? It draws you in!

Often I will pretend to round down a sale so a customer feels they get a deal.
Example: A customer pm's me for 500K Broad Arrow sets. I sell these for 150 ea, however this is what i say.
"Heya, yeah im stocking broads. Hm xp you need? 500k would usually cost 78.3m but i'll do for 75m"
This type of sale is good as it does not indicate your price ea, also throwing a more random number in like 78,381,918 can throw customers off. Keeping a customer talking and stopping them thinking can be key to making sales if you want a bigger margin.

[4] Stock
Lie about stock if you need to. Buyers want a experienced person to buy from, and having "large" stocks of many items can help make you seem more proffessional. A example of this is me stating my ruby stock is 500K when currently it sits at 373K. 500K looks more round and in my eyes, better. It is important to have enough supply for 99s at the least in my opinion

[5] Knowing the competition
You need to know who is selling what, and how many they have got. This is as simple as watching the forums. What you will find is items with multiple sellers will constantly drop on the forums to undercut eachother. The key here is patience; don't let them intimidate you into underselling.

[6] Availability
Being available to a customer is important, there are plenty of sellers, so responding to a PM politely and as fast as possible is key when making a sale. I suggest listing your discord in your signature and adding "PM me in game or on Discord (signature)" to your sale posts to help customers reach you.

[7] How to know what to buy (non bulk)

Knowing what to buy can be hard, however it is quite simple once you understand

The first source of your purchase stock should be SLAYER items. Often users will sell their slayer items for -5% as they want to sell it fast, you can exploit this by offering -4%, or simply offering -5% then adding say, 20 gp. Examples are items like uncut gems, talismans etc.

Purchasing non slayer items like silverhawks, i use http://www.grandexchangecentral.com/
This simply shows the longer term price history of an item. The reason this is useful is because you can detect a average trend price. You can then use this price trend to determine price predictions to help with investments. (I can help you with this)

[8] Margins

You should aim for the following ranges for selling:
GE sales ~ Min 7%
Bulk Sales ~ 25-65% markup *
*A higher markup is determine based on others sales and the G E limit of an item. If i am one of the only one selling I can make a higher markup.
