Hear me out first. Making treasure hunter P2P will not only benefit Jagex in a profit sense, but it will also benefit users as well, even F2P users. Currently there are many P2P players who are complaining that some of the prizes that F2P users earn from treasure hunter are being sold on GE if they are tradable. The main problem with this is that, F2P users are getting free money in large amounts and up getting bonds quickly. Getting bonds fast is very big loss for Jagex in terms of profit, and in the end Jagex has to fish more F2P players in to membership by opening P2P areas or skills to F2P users. The last time that happened there was a massive outcry from many P2P players here and there. By making treasure hunter P2P will stop this from happening.

Also, making treasure hunter P2P will lure more F2P users in becoming members, since there are a lot of F2P users who are also addicted to treasure hunter. Taking away treasure hunter from F2P will force them into membership, JUST TO FEED THEIR ADDICTION. This would lead to more profit for Jagex at the end of the day, and more profit equals better game updates, something that all of us want.

Lastly, many F2P users are complaining about the fact that they always are ending up with members only prizes in treasure hunter, ans only a handful of those prizes are bankable.

This makes me wonder if OP has even used TH in F2P or if he even is capable of logically thinking. TH rewards in F2P are plain junk. Heck, even in P2P often get junk like 20 noted raw fish or logs. Oh, and 90% of rewards in TH are P2P, so F2P players just have to destroy them.

Well then I am the lucky one who keeps getting the 10% f2p items, 90% of the time. Its probably cause I used to stock up on those hearts of ice or what ever they call it.

I use treasure hunter a lot, I use the stars I get , on putting bonus xp on p2p skills. That way i can quickly lvl up in p2p skills.

Entire OP's writing is just loads of bullshit. Even members get 28 yew logs as rewards...F2P get 10 normal logs or 5 lobsters...

I am not sure where do people pull this bullshit about F2P making too much money from TH from.

Springs, Tokens, some selected tradeable F2P wearable items, coin bags, ores(refine them and get more profit [presumed profit, scince coal will no longer be needed{ people stocking up}]), dwarves machines(use them on 2x item collected mode), pale energy(kebbit borrow divine [ polar kebit skin profitable]), etc.

No support. With how minimally f2p gets quality updates to keep up with the game as a whole, Treasure Hunter is one of the most important things for f2p because anybody can get lucky on a single daily key and they might finally be able to enjoy more of the game.

Yet considering f2p can only destroy the luckies, whats the point in it being f2p?:@

Agreed for most of the extremely rare items, but not all.

???

The untradeable cosmetic rares or costumes, are the only rares that f2p might be able to use. And on top of that, it too is a hard to get the f2p ones. Out of all the untradeable very rare, costume/cosmetic wins only a very select few of them can be used by f2p.

Now @Sneaky Mario has been saying that what ever the OPer says is bs. Well the thing is that for an f2p standard having 50m is being rich, while having 2.4b is being rich for a P2P. The problem here is that, most p2p only items are worth a lot more that f2p items. Which leads to my next point that, the P2P rares in Treasure Hunter are also very high value P2P items like for example 200m.

On top of that, I think the reason why P2P's think that most items in TH are trash is because they do not know how to use those items. For example, most P2P's would rather sell 1,000 magic note papers than even use them. Well that's the problem.

@Whatusaytome, is correct in some sense but mostly not entirely. The only few things in TH that f2p can find useful is like the magic notepaper, the dwarven tools, the portables, and the rare cosmetic/costumes as described above on this post. However I have to say that most of the items are garbage. Like I get pissed even as a f2p to see i one 5 newt eyeballs.

Another thing, what @Sneaky Mario said about a problem where P2P also get garbage F2P items, can be fixed if TH becomes P2P. If TH becomes P2P, Jagex can possibly add more P2P items to TH. The reason being that TH would be only P2P.

However if I were to talk in a extremely personal point of view, the only thing that would make me want to keep TH as F2P would be, if that if bonds became a F2P prize in TH. It would only make sense then to keep TH an F2P thing.

I get to bank whatever lucky items I happen to win. Since I sub to members intermittently, that means they're still of some use to me.

No support. If anything, having members items accumulating in the bank provides an incentive to subscribe.

But you can not bank all the mem items that can be gotten from TH. For example, some lamps and a few select items are not bankable.

Also, there are a lot of players in F2P who plan to never become a member, and stay as F2P thru the entire game. So in that case it does not make it an incentive but rather a mess in the bank. On top of that, there is no option for F2P players to cash out there wins, even if the items that they win are F2P winnable items.

Also on a side note, TH is probably more valuable to P2P players rather than F2P.

You don't understand bonds at all do you? People paying with bonds actually gets Jagex more money than if they paid with cash. If there weren't people buying bonds and using them they'd be worthless and jagex wouldn't be able to sell any.

More bonds being sold on GE means more F2P players getting a "DISCOUNTED VERSION" of membership. Getting membership directly actually gets more profit per transaction than one bonds sold per transaction.

Now the BS that F2P gets from treasure hunter is sold on the GE (leading to price inflation). This extra form of income is making F2P players obtain bonds much more easier.

The TH is making a waterfall effect for F2P players to buy a "discounted form" of membership from GE. It does not matter if someone else payed for a membership. The discount is what is decreasing the profit! You guys are taking profit as no revenue, which is not what less profit means.

Now to talk about Treasure Hunter. I am agreeing with what @Draco Burnz is saying that almost everything in TH is crap. The only one thing that I like on TH is magic note paper.

@Radio53kip, you wanted hard core proof to why TH should be P2P, then here it is.

According to [1] it states that most of the rewards are P2P and some can't be cashed out, thus any F2Per's earned or bought keys can be said to be wasted. They even suggest F2P not to pay for the keys.

Further more according to [2] not everything that TH can offer, can be the possible prizes per chest unlock. For example, for one key unlock there could be a 200M prize, but the next key use may not have 200M on the possible prizes that a player can win. Thus there is a chance that all prizes could just be Members items. [2] and [4] also states that F2P can only earn 1 heart of day only as well as 1 key a day, which could be considered a useless key if the scenario in the previous sentence occurs.

According to [3], a post that a JMOD made to the forums, Jagex is now working to make most TH prizes cosmetic, and not everyone in RS is a cosmetic freak. IMO, most fashionistas are P2P in this game. Also, most of the good cosmetic items have Very rare chances of win, and some are P2P prizes.

According to [5] there are very few valuable items that F2P can win and use in TH that are worth more than 100K via cash out or GE. Also the largest pure cash prize a F2P can win and use according to [5] and [6] via a medium cash bag is 112,220 GP. Also, according to [5] most of the items that a F2P can win and use, are either fairly common, uncommon, rare, or very rare.

Lastly but not least, all armor and weapons equipment that can be won are members items according to [5].

I agree with Whatusaytome.

The prizes aren't even that significant a majority of the time.

See what I mean. Basically what is the use of having Treasure Hunter F2P, if the prizes are not that good most of the time. If it became P2P, then all prizes can be P2P which are considered to be much more significant.

I think you are mixing up cosmetic looks of weapons and armor, with actual weapons and armor that can be won on TH. I have not one a single weapons or armor on TH yet to this day that a F2P can use.
