As a method to rewards player's outstanding achievements, capes of accomplishment should never be a BiS item. They should be items that players strive toward because they value their completion of the relevant achievements. By granting even one of them BiS status, you make it so that players value the item's stats, seeing the related achievements as obstacles in their way rather than challenges they want to surpass.

This is exactly right

When do you need bis items? That would be Jagex fault and more reason to fire them.

So skiller best in slot is what? Silverhawk, gote, and LoTDs? LOL. Of course, there are other skiller items hidden behind Sliske's end game, oh, and that needs combat. What should happen to the rewards that boost skilling? Should those be taken away from Sliske and placed in easier quests? Maybe given out after getting a certain RuneScore in skilling?

I don't hear complaints from skillers. Skillers don't want to pvm, Pvm doesn't want to skill. You do it all, you get to show off achievements, and not just a title or a cosmetic.

A combat cape without perks, but you can add two capes to it, would suffice. Stats between comp and max would be fine, but still no perks; closer to max. You can add a range cape to it to pick up arrows, and one more cape, but then at around 700k ea, you could just buy multiple capes right?

Thinking the combat cape Would Be just One of each boss, especially with masses/groups, to get it, would be a huge nerf; consider pvm has instances and there's nothing for skillers. I dare say, maybe a few pvp kills, within 7 of your level, should be added to a combat requirements? Naturally you'd have to be above a base combat of 100 as well.

Piece mealing the comp cape, and giving it to the character, would make Pk'ing a lot more interesting though... No longer need to bring a comp into the wildy, because my player has passives - w00t!

Anyway, all games without lore and other achievements have gone away through the years. So if you just play rs for just/strict combat ( no quests ), you're most likely not going to be around too long. I think the current record to max is 3 days and 13 hours, and then the character can just get the cape? Doesn't seem right. And let's not forget, 120 slayer is a thing now, and if we're updating, then 107 Slayer could also be a reasonable requirement too.

I've read through the details and quite frankly I love the sound of this. It allows for end-game content that can be achieved overtime and in an order appropriate to your current in-game play style. You can do combat while working towards your combat reqs or skill while working towards skilling reqs, etc. In the end no matter what your style of play is you will be receiving relevant rewards and contributing to the goal of obtaining the Meta achievement capes.

Of course there is still more work to be done, but we are on the right track. Regardless of the changes made (or if no changes are made) people will not like what is being done, so lets embrace the change and contribute with positive feedback.

It occurs to me, this is socialism for capes lol. That said, considering the number of alt accounts, a combat cape between max and comp, but closer to comp stats, does make sense.

In the design doc, I don't see anything which states requirements. If you want to win over the no change crowd, we need the requirements.

I think part of the hype ( including my socialism comment ), is that some of us are thinking capes & passives could be achieved at a mere 70-99, and maybe a quest or a few. For a cape with good stats, the t1 reqs should start at 99 combat, and the t3 should need 120 slayer.

But even still, there should be one cape which rules them all

You can be fairly sure that the new comp cape still certainly won't be something everybody will have. Sure - most players will have an handful of t1 (or even 2) capes, but I would bet that a lot of the legacy compers (and maybe even trimmed compers) will initially fail at having the new comp fulfilled - simply for the fact they just did whatever the capes said them to do: And if they just did the plain minimum they will lack a lot of content - simply for the reason legacy comp ignored a lot of stuff released in all those years.

As for reference: T1 Skilling will be more than the max cape (they said more achievements than just all 99s) (unlocks some passive perk), T1 Lore will be the QPC (unlocks some passive perk), T1 combat will the majority of the reaper (I could imagine they either make a cut at GWD2 or at telos/araxxor) (unlocks a passive stat boost, which might even be amplified with t2 combat) - no details for exploration, misc and minigames yet though - and those should be the areas, which will be heavily expanded. T1 Comp is all other T1 achievements combined.

Scale this up to T2 and T3 I'd say T3 comp will certainly be something that deserves the term completionist a tiny bit more than the current cape - the current trimmed cape.

Its like comp and trim now a few months the new capes will be everywhere. They could have saved all this arguing about capes by adding new reqs to existing capes and bringing out a pvm cape. When we were polled for a rework they should have been honest and said they were screwing us over. Princess of World 98 =p~
