Matt Casey is a Jagex Employee that is a Senior Project Manager.

He discusses and even shows graphs and spends a little time on "Loot Boxes" acknowleging TH and Squeal of Fortune for what they are. A key take-away is that apple is requiring exact odds of winning something in lootboxes to be disclosed. Because Jagex wants to enter the mobile market, this is something they are looking close into. He doesn't go on any further and doesn't bring up RunePass at all but brings up the "Fallen Nihil" type events.

Jagex 2019 New Year Resolution... MTX our customers until RS3 SERVER SHUTDOWN PARTY!
The RS3 Community is treated like :@RUBBISH:@ due to constant TH promotions.

Don't buy keys on Treasure Hunter, if you do Jagex will only make more TH promotions :(

They will need to reveal the odds of TH when their games go to China anyway. I think they have prepared to do so for a long time and should have no problem when the time come, whether it is for Mobile, China or somewhere else.

An interesting point at the end is he said on a day to day basis 90% of the players are happy. So much for the MTX "hatred". ;)

I like how Jagex is so proudly throwing around the "the playerbase is consistently growing" thing, not explaining the context behind it, which is that the growth happens on OSRS, whilst RS3 is in a decline (both being true since 2015).

But yeah, they finally admit as well that TH is a loot box system. They are very much self-aware of what they are, just like we thought they are. > )

Probably the only neutral but still interesting thing about the video is how Matt said that there's not much crossover between the sales, as in that people who buy membership, mostly buy just membership, people who buy keys mostly just buy keys etc. Not sure what to think of that yet.

---

And wow... near the end of the video, somebody asked if Jagex brings back the limited edition cosmetics to increase the long tail sales, and Matt answered yes, then saying "we do sort of make it clear to players that they'll be able to get it again later on"; that's total bs. Nowhere in the promo posts do they say or imply that they'll be back, because that's how they drive those sales: making it seem like you have to get them now, or you'll miss out.

Even if they're going to say in the future that a promotional cosmetic is going to be gone for good permanently, never coming back, the fact that this guy was talking so much about the "life cycle" of their assets, coupled with the above quote, they'll probably go back on their word, so it looks like I won't be buying any of those things ever again.

Much appreciated that you shared the video, OP. I'm gonna save it and refer to it in the future on certain topics, and hopefully it'll open other people's eyes too, now that we have such solid proof from them to show them for what they really are. > )

I like how some extremely delusional players still don't see there are no "playerbase" figures among all Jagex games, both existing and discontinued ones. In fact, not only is there no sign on the "decline" of RS3 "playerbase" whatsoever, all members pay a fee to play both RS3 and OSRS. They are players of both RS3 and OSRS, the same "playerbase". :D

Probably, those who buy cosmetics only buy Runecoins, that's why Runecoin sale was so pathetic in 2017 for Jagex - just about 10% of the sales of TH.

Isn't it a good thing Mod Casey clearly stated "limited time items" don't mean discontinued items? He explicitly said they may be brought back later. Those who insist "limit time items" should not be brought back later have to rest their case now.

Oh, they don't bring up RunePass because it was still an "experiment", not one of the actual current monetization methods. Regarding the Live Events, he clearly showed they encourage player participation and entice more players to stay in the game. Obviously, he disproved the general misconception that MTX turns players away...
and in fact, 90% of the players are happy with the game despite of MTX
. :)
