If you have received an email from Jagex recently about RWT activity on your account,
do not click on any links!
.
At this moment there is an increased amount of reports of phishing emails going around. One of the reported emails starts with the following paragraph:

'Greetings,

We have strong evidence that you may have attempted a transfer of Runescape accounts or traded virtual items outside of game environment.
'

This email (or any others claiming that Jagex is taking action against you) is a fake email, the sending email address has been spoofed to appear as one of the legit Jagex email accounts. Should you receive an email like this, please forward it to
reportphishing@Jagex.com
and delete the email.

Note that the above email text is just one example of a phishing email, there are other variations as well!

Please keep in mind that Jagex will never email you about bans, lawsuits, moderator status or personal information. Jagex will only message you about RWT, bans, mutes or similar issues through the official message centre.

Should you be in any doubt whether an email is legit, please don't click any links in the message, you can always ask on these forums for a confirmation.

Sucks that people are falling victim to this. Since email is something more personal, people are more likely to trust something that is labeled Jagex. Best rule to go by is to only trust messages in your game inbox. "The closer you get to the light, the greater your shadow becomes."

The thread titled "I knew these scammers where desperate, but not this desperate." on Reddit is how I realized to what lengths the scammers went. There the OP provided screenies of the website, which btw I caution against because the website could have a virus.

I *HIGHLY* suggest reading that thread so you can not only see how legit a scam it is, but also read the comments people have on why they found it sketch.

Ye, don't even visit it.
You will never get anything for free. Anyone claiming that is trying to scam, lure or hijack you.
