While going about my business at the GE, I stumbled upon some person spewing out the same sentence every two seconds; "Spare money for Bandos please." He had a skull over his head, so I assumed he just lost his usual set of armor to some PKer in the wilderness. Someone came up to him and a second later I see him with a full set of Bandos equipped. I go back to doing my own stuff, pretty annoyed and disgruntled that someone gave into a beggar. I come back to the GE 2 hours later, and guess who I found. The same guy spewing the same sentence, not wearing any armor again.

Personally, whenever I see a beggar in this game, I can't help but confront them and tell them they should be using their skills and time to earn their own money, as opposed to begging and relying on chance that someone wants to give you any sum of gold. I resent begging fervently. It's users are weakness and patheticism incarnate. In the real world, referring to homeless people or people in very bad situations, it's understandable. For them, it's not as easy as going out into the world and gathering its resources to put up for sale.

I simply don't understand why idly begging in any capacity is tolerated aside from the fact that it would be annoying for Jagex to enforce and deal with the angry complaints from sour beggars. I would love to see begging landing you days and up to weeks of mutes depending on how often you beg, as so much of it qualifies simply as spam. I understand I could obviously just ignore these people or take a "C'est la vie" approach to it, but I grew up learning that begging was pathetic and disgusting, and I don't like seeing these disgusting people profit from other people's hard work.

Tl;dr: I would love to see Jagex take a hard stance on deserving beggars in the form of a progressive mute system (depending on frequency of the offense). To clarify, no bans. Just mutes.

Agree? Disagree? I know Jagex won't take action, but I'd like to see how everyone else feels about this.

Agreed.

If you want them muted, then do it yourself using your ignore list.

Just because somebody asks for some help, deserving or otherwise, doesn't mean they should get muted for it.

Exactly.

Theres loads of thing ppl do that annoy me, yet you dont see me asking for this.

Just have to either ignore them by not going to the areas they frequent or just add them to list.

Sadly, a profitable way for people to make money in runescape these days is by begging, this is done by asking for lots of money, bonds, full bandos or many other ways.
Another is a noob account seling something like bronze bars, or trout, so others who remember when they were a noob end up giving this account lots of money.

I too agree that it should not be allowed, but the best thing to do is place them on the ignore list, and make sure you never give money away to someone whom you don't trust.

He could have gotten his skull from Mr. Ex in Edgeville. You could check the noticeboard in Edgeville to see if he actually died in the Wildy or is just abusing his skull from Mr. Ex to trick you in believing that. The RS Wiki needs a hand, and Bwian's will gladly take the rest of your body!
In the beginning the Universe was created.
This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

What about the people who love begging? We have feelings too, and I'm sad to hear you think we are disgusting. May I ask why? I haven't done anything wrong. :(

No support! Begging is an important part of the RS culture. Beggars are legit and deserve a lot of freebies!

The problem isn't the beggars.
The problem is the bleeding hearts who think they've done a good deed by giving their items to a random.
And you can't make a rule to get rid of them.
