history dictates exp rates and drop loot goes up over time, should we quit for a year or 2 to no exp waste?

also any discontinued/limited items you re release, so we might as well log out for a few years?

By that logic, you should never play.

Also, not playing for two years is the definition of exp waste.

why wont jagex release all updates in one week?

I'm going out on a limb here... But perhaps it's because Jagex don't have all the updates? Because games take time to develop? Jagex aren't magicians that just have content flowing from their loins on the daily :P

the original owners didn't sell gp or exp, this lot does, and yet the online community isn't there

You fail to see the bigger problem.

If Jagex releases new content that is not better than previously existing content people will whine and moan that it's dead content on release.

If Jagex doesn't release new content it will go stale and people will quit.

Either of those two options will make people quit permanently. So by making everything give more exp and more money they keep people playing. But you're very welcome to quit until you lie on your deathbed. That's going to be the most efficient time you can play the game in your lifetime.

Just saying: there is a lot more to runescape aside from gp and experience. If that is why you play the game then sure, you can wait all the time you want until they are at rates you wish to gain them.

Point is, I play for fun personally. And nowadays a lot of achievements have been added that I find fun to get: the slayer codex was a lot of fun (and will be when new monsters come out this month), the new pvm/minigame/miscellaneous achievements are fun to attain and the new drop logs along with titles also give me some fun goals to go after. Now this is just my personal way of playing the game. But with the release of achievement scores I have come to realize the gap that is in between getting maxed stats plus a large sum of gp and actually getting most achievements in game.

What I am trying to say is that for one you should not play just for the sake of playing, you should play for fun. Second, there are a multitude of (fun!) things you can do aside from getting that gp and experience. You do not have to share my way of playing though, feel free to wait if you want.

You make the case that xp rates go up as new content is released. I'll grant this assertion. Acknowledging this, all that means is that training will become more time efficient in the future.

The only way you could consider leaving and returning not exp waste is if the goal you are training towards would take more time than you spend away and then spend training it when you return. That's nonsensical, however, since any training method available on your return would be available to you upon its release if you don't leave. This gives you the same maximum possible starting xp rate at any given time, but you'd have higher baseline xp if you stayed and trained on what is available than if you left and never trained at all.

In other words, it's always gonna be faster (though not necessarily more efficient) to stick around and train to reach your xp goals than it would be to leave and return.
