Hey folks! posted this on reddit originally but forgot to post it here, this will be a long one so buckle up!

So with the release of ED3 i had an idea, what if we made a dragonkin research themed boss rush mode styled after the dominion tower? well here's the pitch i'll have a Tl:dr at the very end. please note beware of spoilers below the contents or those that have not completed ED3 and Siliske's endgame.

the premise

With the destruction of the stone of jas and Xau-tak's attempts to corrupt some of Gielinor's most powerful and dangerous inhabitants culminating in the Ambassador's defeat in the shadow reef, Kerpac has concluded that research and testing is required upon the most dangerous inhabitants of Gielinor; the bosses. As a result Kerpac has Created a new laberatory that simulates these powerful denizens for his controlled research, and is offering you and anyone else foolish enough to participate promises of riches and fame should you prove...adequate... Team up with up to ten other adventurers to face a nightmareish simulation of Runescapes bosses for a host of useful and new rewards.

2. Requirements

for this proposed update players would require the following;

128 combat minimum (there would also be a low level version locking at gwd1 with a level 90 combat requirement)

recommended completion of Siliske's Endgame and Curse of the Blackstone for context and Fate of the gods for access to the measure, use of which inside the minigame will grant passive benefits.

Your own combat equipment, food, and supplies, they will not be provided to you

3. Mechanics, basics

this mode would have three different versions, we'll split this as in the contents but the general premise is simple,

Players either solo or in groups of 2-10 will face as many bosses as possible before every member is defeated, resupplies are allowed between bosses (But can be changed by modifier or general settings) The more bosses you kill, the higher quality your research data (points) are worth. a .1% boost to points is added each successful clear.

Players can use the measure at the end of a defeated boss to add 1% bonus score to your overall data gain each round. Each round cleared will allow acsess to a randomly selected boss (influenced based on below factors). Each new boss faced will add a new handicap or buff, up to 5 handicaps and 3 buffs, handicaps can be disabled but add extra score for each active while buffs subtract a small percent of score gained each round.

Group bosses like Yakamaru and BM are disabled by default and can be reenabled in settings as described below.

lastly all normal drops from these bosses are disabled for obvious reasons, but don't worry the rewards will more than make up for this.

A. Gameplay modes,

a. Solo - Group bosses are disabled period and can not be re enabled, point modifier is locked to start at .5-2x depending on difficulty settings - handicaps enabled

b. group (matchmaking/on site random selection)- group bosses requiring high tactics are disabled, bosses such as araxxor (With mechanics to learn but arent necessarily requiring of specific roles are enabled) players receive a default 2.5x base point modifier due to the nature of working with randoms -handicaps enabled

c. self assembled group - starts at .5x multiplier and increases based on handicaps can be disabled or enabled see bellow



B. General settings

general settings can ONLY be changed during solo or self assembled groups, with the exception of difficulty, see below

a. Difficulty - Difficulty is set on a slider (adjustable before any form of play and will decide how you matchmake) 1 is the default setting, all bosses start at 0% enrage and normal mode, 2 adds 30% enrage and a slight raise in pre eoc/non enrage mechanic bosses hp, defense, and attack, 3 adds 70% enrange and puts bosses on hardmode (or close to it if they dont have one) levels, 4 is 100% enrage (if possible) and adds even more defense and offence to hm bosses, 5 200% (skips to 400% if telos) enrage and a massive defence and offence boost for hm bosses. handicaps are only toggleable in self assembled groups at mode 5 but buffs can still be rolled.

b. Boss rounds - by default all bosses without designated roles (AOD, Solak, Yaka, BM and Elite dungeons) are enabled and those with are disabled until all of the bosses are cleared at least once after this a vote is enabled to add them in or keep them off, they will be automatically enabled after 3 full clears. bosses can be toggled perminately off or on in settings, banking is allowed between bosses so long as the "endurance" handicap is not enabled.

c. Handicaps - there should be ten total i have five suggestions but i'd rather jagex think of this one as

i. Endurence (no banking between rounds), Bleeding (slowly lose small bits of hp over time) halved food healing,

ii. Once more (one free revive per round), Unlimited power (triggering an ultimate may use zero adren), Savior (eating food or drinking potions has a 2% chance to share the effect to everyone), and death mark (once per 5 bosses you'll be granted a Death touched dart but receive no data for the kill only the score modifier increase)

d. Death allowance - you can set how many deaths each player is allowed till they're out in self assemble, default setting is untill the team falls, but can be modded from 0-infinite less deaths allowed the more your score increases (up to 3x for 0 extra lives)

e. Anomalies - anomalies have a 1/50 chance to spawn, the hardest modifiers jagex might implement are enabled and the boss will be at minimum setting 4, this wont end a run if you die or the team falls, if you succeed against the boss however, you'll have your current score tripled and are guaranteed two ancient effigies, these are however, difficult and not to be taken lightly.

4. Rewards

so what do i get from this? you may be wondering, well beyond combat xp that will be enabled for the fights, let me regale you with what i would suggest be the rewards!, this will be split into two sections, rewards that are for out of the minigame (A) and for inside (B).

Research points will work similar to shattered worlds where a high total is required for most purchases, I'll leave the costs up to jagex/the community.

A. external rewards

Warped sonic wave and rupture - this is the magic equivalent of Mutated dazing shot and salt the wound

Precise sever and Savage strike - Melee equivalent of Mutated dazing shot and salt the wound

Seiryu's breath sigil base - a degrading sigil that requires 100 dragon charms from amanishi to create + 10 cut and uncut dragonstones, players will receive 500 charges per sigil, activation will allow them to mirror Seiryu's dragonbreath attack draining 1 charge per random activation and 10 per manual activation, being hit by this will activate an effect similar to corruption shot/blast with the player being healed 10% of the initial strikes damage. a new base is required per sigil.

Dragonkin lamps - very pricey item from the store players can once per week buy 2 dragonkin lamps for their work

Lucky Research coin - Players will be given an increased chance to receive a pet drop (either boss or summoning) for the next hour, players with all pet drops will receive a scaled amount of BXP similar to a huge prismatic star.

Blackstone Signet ring - An ultra rare drop akin to a HSR rarity wise, this ring has no combat stats but a devastating passive if it activates, a black hand is summoned for 15 seconds capable of stealing up to 25k hp and distributing up to 5k hp per player in your group, the black stone signet ring can further be combined with LOTD/HSR to create a corrupted LOTD or corrupted HSR cutting down the hp steal down to 10k hp in exchange for combat stats and prior effects of the regent ring, these rings are untradeable forever once equipped.

Maw prize - receive a random reward from the motherload maw once a day with each purchase(does not negate the free daily pull for players with 115 dg)

Dacytl Research (spell)- a spell unique like polypore strike as it would be on every spell book, operates similarly to monster examine except Dactyl research will grant the group a random weakness on normally weakness free enemies (ie bolts will be 10% more effective, stabbing weapons will be 10% more damaging, etc) however it can't be rerolled once marked and it costs a hefty 50 blood runes, 75 soul runes, 200 chaos runes, and 25 astral runes per cast, making this a very costly but fantastic spell for end game group activities.

Drop Synthesis- once per week you may spend a very very large sum of points to attempt to simulate 3 drops from the featured bosses, they can be anything but, the rarity of unique drops is quadrupled from this. Any unique drops obtained from this are further rendered untradeable for four weeks after obtaining being unrepairable past 100% till the designated time has passed. Gear may still be dismantled as normal if desired or used if an ability book.

Title "Dactyl [username] and Necrosyte [username]" bought for a large sum together, two cosmetic titles.

B. internal rewards

degradation research - Armor weapons and chargepacks no longer degrade inside the minigame, lasts 24 hours per purchase

Simulated potions - a random assortment of potions ranging from prayer potions to supreme overload salves that ONLY work within the minigame,

Soul research - reaper tasks can now be completed within the minigame, additionally kerpac will sell slayer contracts for a certain quantity of boss kills similar to a reaper task once this is unlocked

Vanguard/Trickster/Battlemage Research- Kerpac will simulate Vg Trick and BM's abilities and stats within the minigame allowing for new avenues to play

Second chance token - only usable in groups, reroll a handicap or buff to try for something better, limit 1 per round

Cloak token - consumed on entry into the fight, minions for a boss will not target the player, illusion ends upon striking or standing within 5 meters of the individual minons.

Point gamble token - consumed at the end of a game if desired, it will either halve, double, or leave your points the same with a .5% chance to triple your points.

And that's about it! of course if the idea gets any traction it will need to be changed edited and balanced but that's the basic idea, a boss rush mode featuring the bosses of rs with dominion style handicaps and buffs to make it interesting, with a handful of good rewards that will keep people coming back for more



Tl;dr, A brand new boss rush minigame similar to the dominion tower but with bosses like telos, rax, vindy, etc for 1-10 people with a host of new rewards to give it replayability.

Just came here to say: the name is Kerapac, not Kerpac. The RS Wiki needs a hand, and Bwian's will gladly take the rest of your body!
In the beginning the Universe was created.
This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.
