This is for a suggestion for a new boss difficulty, easier than telos, solak, vorago, rax, nex and elite dungeons. Casual bossers often go for GWD1 or GWD2 but its too easy. My suggestion would be something harder than GWD bosses but easier than Nex. Doubling down on the amount of GWD2 mechanics seems doable and the right fit for people not so serious.

Suggestion :: A boss harder than GWD2 bosses but easier than Nex, no 1 hit K.O.s, no super hard 5k-9k hits, no prayer switching and no team required. Also, basic ability usages and nothing absolutely necessary to do to survive like using an ability at the right time to avoid a death. Lastly, healing methods like helwyr/vindicta, no mandatory equipment switching, no aura requirement, no scrimshaw requirement and more mechanics than GWD2 with less mechanics than Nex.

Side suggestion (not necessary) :: A necessity to use t92 elite gear to be able to hit the boss would be cool, just to use t92, nothing more, but that would mean the drops would have to cover the cost of that usage.

I can only speak from my own experience so I apologize if yours doesn't match very well.

Prior to last year, I had not fought any bosses, other than the Kalphite Queen once or twice way back in the pre-EoC days. I was cowardly and didn't have any gear for it.

I ran into a very generous player one day while trying to help someone figure something out in the GE. This generous player gave me my first decent gear (Bandos armor IIRC) and brought me with him to fight General Graardor. I had no idea how easy it was to fight in GWD, and despite dying during that first trip, I found myself entranced by the experience and went back many many times alone and with friends.

After a long time of doing only GWD and primarily Graardor and Kril, a friend asked if I wanted to try GW2. I was scared. I knew they were harder enemies and I didn't really want to die again, but I was willing to give it a try. We fought Vindicta and I discovered that although the fight was significantly more nuanced than GWD, it was something I was more than capable of. My fears were unsubstantial. Dying in GW2 happens to me on occasion but overall it has not been near as bad as I thought.

Beyond GW2 I have fought Nex with my clanmates once in which I died and didn't want to go back, fought Beastmaster Durzag once in which I didn't die but found the experience unrewarding and stressful, and fought the Kalphite King with a friend one time which resulted in multiple deaths and no significant payout.

All in all it is my opinion that given a sufficient bank to pay for numerous deaths while learning a new boss, most people are capable of learning every boss encounter in the game. The lower tier bosses like GWD and GW2 are not as likely to cost very much in deaths for most players, but the principle is the same. Given time and commitment, you will be able to learn every boss in the game.

As such I think that you probably just haven't put enough time into learning the next boss. Correct me if I am wrong.

Ran out of characters during that last post -

Just wanted to reiterate my main point:

I think fear, not skillcap, is the main thing preventing players from fighting the hardest bosses in the game. This is no Dark Souls.

Yeah, you're right, I am fearful of learning bosses I know that I can learn, like Nex solos or KK. This is the reason I'm suggesting this in-between boss difficulty, so fear won't be much of a factor, nor will investment or deaths. I'm stressed to be saving up for a rare item, and you know those increase in price over short periods of time, sometimes. So I would put in the effort to learn bosses if I wasn't in this situation. It would give a nice leeway to get this particular difficulty of a boss into the game, at least to fill the gap.

Right now I'm heavily relying on consistent drops like 100% drops of high priced bones, Slayer, RC runs, Ports, bloodwoods and such, to ensure I could save up. GWD1/GWD2 has some good priced drops, so sometimes I do that but it's not consistent with dry streaks being a thing, and drop rates not really being in favor of a good source. If Nex daily kills weren't limited to aura times, that would be a good type of boss I'm looking for (having the decent drops too).
