I think it could be really cool to add a pedometer driven option for agility training. This would NOT be intended as a quick leveling option, but would give an alternative option to afk training on your phone. As it would be mobile only, there would not be any exclusive rewards. This would allow people to safely set their phone aside (their pocket) and make small gains while doing other activities.

Depending on the options you choose, you could gain small amounts of skilling materials alongside agility exp. The daily limit would be based on steps and your agility level. It could be something like 1,000 steps every ten levels, up to the famous "10,000 steps per day" recommendation, at level 99/100.

The biggest problem I could see is preventing or deterring spoofers. I also understand jagex may not want to offer anything exclusive to a specific platform, but I thought it could be a fun way to promote the unique mobile experience, if balanced correctly (ensuring it's not too lucrative).

Now this could just be crazy, but if jagex wanted to make it feel more interactive, they could build a cookie clicker mini game that was tied to your steps. You could level up your power with points you got from walking. This could be classified as a D&D?

That's getting more complicated than I originally intended, but I don't think a straight pedometer feature is that far separated from current afk capabilities on mobile. (Ie smithing cannonballs: tap your phone twice every three minutes)

This would leave the door wide open to bot. Check the internet for "fitbit cheat" and you'll find dozens of ways to trick pedometers into thinking you're taking steps while they're being moved by machines.

No.

This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

One idea would be that it would be too little gain for anyone to bother cheating it, but I don't know how that would work. Like "why bother cheating the pedometer if I could get better gains cheating literally anywhere else?"

I think it's a good idea, but it's obvious enough that there would be some hurdles. Maybe there would just be no practical way to implement it.
