Dear Runescape,

As you know, there has been a shocking act of violence committed in Christchurch, New Zealand. As a mark of respect to the victims of the Mosque attach, and to show that Runescape players abhor violence in our communities, and offer both our love & support to the Muslim community and anyone else affected by the violence, how about releasing a 'Solidarity Ring' (or something similar)?

Wearing the ring might have an effect like the Lovers medallion (or something similar), and might allow Runecape player to visually show their rejection of hatred, and the power of community?

I don't know what happened there, so excuse my ignorance, but IMO Runescape should be neutral when it comes to real life issues, since I imagine most people want to play for fun and enjoyment, rather than being reminded about those issues while they're playing as well.

I totally agree with Blackwing on this.

Real life stuff needs to be kept out of Runescape if at all possible after all we play to
escape reality.

I suppose myself is an example as to why - personally and being brutally honest, I don't care about this. If things like this start entering the game you'll be seeing a lot more stronger opinions from other who won't keep it short and sweet, to put it one way, depending on how major the topic is - better off just not opening that door altogether.

Tragedies should be something that everybody can agree about.

On a video game, though, there is the shield of online anonymity which can permit people to voice outrageous opinions which they would almost certainly not express in real life.

As such, bringing topics which everyone should agree about, such as condemning violence towards anybody, simply allows provocative individuals yet one more opportunity to provoke argument.

Keeping topics like that to the social spheres outside of video games like Runescape allows Runescape to remain - to whatever extent it can - clean of those sorts of arguments and flame wars.
