Good Morning, Let me start this Thread by stating that I am a veteran Runescape player, with over seven years of experience and dedication to this amazing game. I am dedicating this post to help the game's economy and suggest a potential update to the Priffindas Gem Rocks all in the best intentions.

New Mining and Smithing Update
As you all know, Jagex has come out with an amazing new update for Runescape 3 players, known as the Mining and Smithing Rework. Overall, in my personal opinion, they have done an excellent job with this Rework and have continued, yet again to show their vast amount of skills. The Mining and Smithing Rework featured new tier 92 melee armour, plentiful new rocks to mine, and a rework of the skill in it's entirety. The Priffindas gem rocks were one of these updates.

Original Update
When the first Mining and Smithing update came out, the Priffindas Gem Rocks had just over 10,000 "Mining Health" and were estimated to be 1/250 rocks would be an onyx.

Update to Original Update
Jagex noticed that this was a problem and went ahead and fixed the original update. The Gem rocks are now 1,150 "Mining Health" and the onyx's are roughly "10x Rarer" to receive.

The Main Concern
Onyx's are one of Runescape's very well know and lucrative gems that has been around and loved for years since the ability to obtain them from the Fight Kiln. Onyx's can be used to repair items such as the Ring of Death, Deathtouch bracelet, Reaper Necklace, and many other items, making the price stay at very demanded levels.
This is a very miniscule example of my concern: I have mined over 24 constant hours at the Priffindas gem rocks and have received up to 13 Onyx's in a one hour time span. There has been a vast increase in the amount of players mining these gem rocks over the last few weeks and the price of an Onyx (Via Grand Exchange Mid-Price) has significantly crashed.

Are Onyx's becoming too easy to get?

yes you said it yourself

just the release of kiln made them easy to get. its just a process of a game some things when released are insane. take godwars items for instance they use to be rare hard to get. now they incredibly easy to obtain

its one thing we have to accept in a constantly updating game. things that once were hard. may become easy in future

well, the tweak to the gem rocks has destabilized the gem market for all gems, folks. today, uncut sapphires dropped below 200 gp per.

They had actually started a slow recovery back to their 800-900 range and were well over 500 when this update came out that made gems easier to mine, and that started the drop, and then Jagex, in their wisdom, went and brought back parcels from the hedge. Which is what caused the FIRST gem price tank last fall that they were trying to recover from and never did.

Thanks, Jagex, for destroying the gem market in every way you can think of. Pretty soon you won't be able to give the stones away if this trend keeps up.
