I think I can imagine a situation where this would be more problematic and it might not be solved simply by emailing community support.

Before I move on with the rest of my answer, I'd like to first say that I do agree with the rest of the people here in saying that we should take it to the FMR first, perhaps the relevant staff member could offer clarification on the matter which might dissuade your stance. If you disagree with the staff, then we should utilise that community email.

I think you are also aware, Nex. Not too long ago, I publicly aired an issue about a particular Jagex staff. I must admit, I could've taken a different approach. But at that point of time, I did not find it erroneous of me to perform those actions, because I firmly believed that it affected the rest of the community.

However, if I just had given it a bit more time, I would've found that the staff member merely made a mistake, despite what I had previously believed.

[I decide to relate this story because I think people can learn from my mistake in taking the best course of action].

EVEN SO! On that thread, our curator, another Jagex staff, communicated the issue with the relevant staff, and unlocked my thread. So you have to give props to our curator for acknowledging the issue and was at least allowing the discussion to continue.

In that sense, I think we can have a little bit of faith in our current curator.

However, this brings me to
my next issue

What happens if you go back to the FMR, and the Jagex staff is adamant that his views/actions are correct, and you believed that it might not be in the best interests of the community?

With the knowledge we've received on this thread, our next course of action would be to email community@jagex.com.

But what happens if the email replies "We concur with the actions of the Jagex staff", and you still believe that the actions of the staff member is inconsistent with the interests of the community?

Naturally, you'd set up a thread addressing this issue.

But then this becomes the problem (as I've witnessed).

You would've set up a thread linking to an issue that you had on the FMR, which to a certain extent, maintains the confidentiality of the complainant. Therefore, your thread gets locked because it violates the nature of the FMR.

Then you get stuck.

So what do you do next?

You take it to a place where Jagex is limited in their powers, but has more listening ears - Reddit.

Remember when Jagex tried to reverse the actions of the Penguin Thread community which had existed for 9 years? It was such an outrage to the community that the previous Head of CM had to issue an apology.

So what's my point?

My point is that when you try to challenge a Jagex staff, who represents their company, you're challenging the company itself. How do you fight a company? With the thing they value the most - their customers.

So if you're prepared to fight, you have to rally the masses.

Essentially, what I'm trying to say is - if the issue is so pertinent that it's considered to affect the community, then you need not be worried, because the community is the greatest, final line of defense.

However, I shall reiterate, based on my observations, I have reason to believe that we can trust in our current system without having to engage to last resort actions because our current curator has demonstrated flexibility, open-mindedness, willingness to communicate and fairness.

Pardon me, were those two posts a reply from Customer Complaints?
Care to explain what you are talking about because I do not know?

Oh I'm sorry, I made the assumption that you were quoting a reply from Jagex because you said 'To whom it may concern', so I thought you received an email from Jagex, sorry.
