That's the thing though, why must the RSOF be like every other forum?

I know it needs some updates but why must we get a copy pasta update like this?

Plus the high chance this could be abused is also another reason why this shouldn't happen.

It doesn't necessarily have to be like every other forum in every aspect. But there are some merits to the features and user abilities that other forums have. Ideally, we'd like to benefit from having similar features. Something that other forums have is the ability to edit your own thread title, which many people reasonably expect to have.

We don't really know whether the chances are 'high'. Perhaps forums these days are different from before, especially with the level of activity. But one could argue that it's better to have no chance at all.

Then we must weigh the pros and cons. Does having the ability to edit your thread, which we can expect that majority of the community will use that ability reasonably, outweigh the possibility of abuse?

We're also very creative. We can come up with suggestions that can limit the abuse.

I've suggested:
- Refractory period of title changes.

I also suggest allowing screenshots to be posted on Forum Help as evidence that a user has attempted to violate the rules.

I suggested the same thing many years ago. I believe that 1-time renaming of thread title for the thread author will be a good way to fix mispelled thread titles. It has nothing to do with lessening the workload of moderators, but rather just a way for a quick fix an obvious accidental mistake.

Considering photos can be faked, I don't see why you should?

This is the very sign of "abuse" im talking about.

One person trying to report another for something they possibly didn't do.

I can agree with this. I also would assume that the author would lose their 1 edit if the thread becomes locked or the title is changed by a moderator before they use it.

Interesting that is true.

Another suggestion is, provided that Jagex have installed a new platform for the forums that allows for a multitude of features, that Fmods be able to see history of a thread title changes.

I'm dreamin' abit, but still a suggestion :P.

Renaming threads is simply a power forum users expect to have, and are confused when they find themselves unable to do so. One initial edit, with a replenishment period of, say, 30 hours, could help alleviate many potential problems, along with perhaps a system of some sort to filter out inapropriate title changes.

Keep up the good work, people!
