If you partial quote it, you're not going to get the big picture. I think what Tufty is trying to say is that the current system that Jagex uses to maintain the website is old and not so friendly to change. Jagex is notorious for taking ages to update and improve the forums. So many forum suggestions over the years have gone down the drain, even though they received massive support and stayed for a lengthy period of time.

So what Tufty was also trying to say is that Jagex in the future might just incorporate a completely new system where changes are quick, easy and cheap.

snow]Glad to know that the forum mods enjoy wasting other people's time, because being able to edit your own thread title yourself would be significantly faster than having to ask a mod to do it. Even if a forum mod would instantly respond to a name change request (which usually doesn't happen, sometimes can take upwards of several hours), having to add the QFC to the thread and the explanation that you want the name changed still takes longer than clicking a button yourself and typing the name change. :P[/snow]

This. Every other forum can do it, we should be able to.

The only reason I can think of as to why thread title change should be left in the hands of Fmods is that there could be a situation where trolls can have an inappropriate title and quickly change it before the Fmods can moderate.

But a simple solution to this would be to add a refractory period on title changes.

I see no issues with asking on Forum Help for a title change as long as it's not over used with the same thread. 1 or 2 changes is fine but more then that it might be pushing the boundries. ;)

The fact that you've said this is actually an issue. There should not be a limit to how many times an OP wants to change their thread title if it's within reason.

But I imagine the reality is that different Fmods are attending to Forum Help at various times, so it's likely that not just a single Fmod is going to attend to the same person consistently.

What can this thread be used for?

Thread Maintenence

Thread Title Changes
• Moving Threads
• Locking Threads

Having users to self-rename threads defeats the purpose of Forum Help / Forum Moderators.

Pretty much.

No support.

It's funny because this is one of those suggestions that's pretty much impossible to be against.

Its funny how you think that's so true.

How could it not be?It's not like you could be against the suggestion, since they'res no reason to be.

It's a basic feature of many forums, including locking your own thread.

I'd be fine with a one or a few times title changing.

Forum help is only necessary cause you have no choice but to use it for a lack of this forums features.

Assuming they ever do update this place, most of forum helps uses could be replaced with buttons like other forums have. Highlight could be a report button, rename thread could be up top, throw in a lock thread button, maybe delete post after like a week or something.

That's the thing though, why must the RSOF be like every other forum?

I know it needs some updates but why must we get a copy pasta update like this?

Plus the high chance this could be abused is also another reason why this shouldn't happen.
