By far the biggest benefit to Summoning was that it introduced many more opportunities for making money into the game. There are a lot of items in RuneScape that are relatively useless. Summoning gave a purpose to these items, put them in demand, and created opportunities for people of all skill levels to make money gathering these items. It additionally gave a purpose to fighting certain monsters that were previously useless. Remember Waterfiends? Currently in OS, and in RS3 prior to summoning, they were basically useless monsters that nobody fought. Once they were made an excellent source of charms, they became one of the most popular monsters to fight.

If not Summoning, then something similar. Something that requires a wide variety of items - preferably items that already exist in game - from a wide variety of monsters. Give people a reason to fight more than the same dozen monsters; give people a reason to collect the wide array of (currently useless) items in game, giving people an opportunity to make money.

Ayy, you get it my guy. This would only benefit the game.

Summoming was a major update which changed the whole way i played the game. I did enjoy it when it came out as it was a nice change of gameplay.
However that all changed (when the fire nation attacked.) the later on into the skill i got.

What made early summoning fun: The huge variety of familiars. Late game, those familiars sadly became obsolete. Only depending on Pak Yak, Unicorn and Steel titan. They are massivly over powered, exceptially the pak yak (baroo baroo).

Summoning in osrs could work with alot of rework. Maybe buff existing lower tier familiars to higher tiers the further you level.

Part 2 is where thing got a bit out of hand. I thought Part 1 of Summoning was fine and that's the part I would like to see in the game.

However, might I interest you to take a peek at page 20 of this thread? I've written an ideal rework of Summoning that I believe would be a proper fit for OSRS.

Okay so I think I've had a change of heart on summoning. I know for a lot of people, it devalues their achievements.

So, I would support summoning under the following conditions:

1. ) Summoning should offer a sufficient money sink, such that any effects on the game economy would be roughly offset.

2.) Make it so that players can choose to opt in/out. Make summoning/non summoning separate game modes. This way, players that do not wish to have their achievements devalued can be given an icon next to their name (similar to ironmen) which indicates that their account has never used summoning. These players would not be able to trade with summoning accounts, or pick up dropped items from summoning accounts. This will prevent "regular" mains from benefiting from BoBs and such. Furthermore, if a boss has been damaged by a summoning player's familiar, the "regular main" would not be able to receive the drop.

3.) Do not allow familiars in the wilderness (we already have loot bags anyways). This will prevent changes in the PvP meta.

4.)Other considerations (non-summoning players/irons cannot raid with summoning players, etc)

You can see where I'm going with this. Quarantine non-summoning accounts, and do not allow ironmen to access summoning. There may be insurmountable integrity issues which I'm overlooking, and if that's the case, it won't pass poll anyways
Bring back Stealing Creation! (with reworked non-OP rewards)

I'm glad to have your support however I can get it.
