NOTE: These words are not my own. They are the words of one of the Greatest Legends ever to walk upon the RSB and the message these words hold were left behind for all RSBians to gain knowledge of.
Thus in the words of Lev himself "Enjoy!"

Is this thing on?
Good...
Hello RSB, and welcome to my 1st thread here in a LONG time, but this is important...
Now, amidst all the squabbles and grief here, let me bring up a VERY important point that MANY of you have CLEARLY overlooked...
What is Runescape?
Now, in reading that question, some of you said "just a game", some said "MMORPG" and some said "Role-Playing".
Perhaps there are other responses, but I'm sure the 3 listed are the dominant...
Now, if you think it's "just a game", I think you should "just" play elsewhere, where you are not affecting other people.
That and perhaps it would be easier to grasp the concept of "just" games than it is to grasp Runescape.
If you said "MMORPG" then you are technically correct, but failed to realize the core in that acronym...
What is Runescape?
Well, cut out all the rest, and you have "Role-Playing".
That is to say that you can be and do whatever you want, as long as it fits the role you choose.
Since these are midievel times, your list of cuss words should be severely limited, you should fear being hanged for treason, and the word "noob" doesn't exist...
So, my advice is: KNOW YOUR ROLE!
Let there be rivalries, alliances, empires,
clans, conflict, etc, but remember, these are NOT personal matters!

How many D&D players get overly upset because they didn't get what they were hoping for, or died?
Heh, the answer is a VERY low, if not non-existent number.
Why?
Because it takes mentality to play an RPG.
It's not about killing stuff, making friends, or seeing who has the most xp.
These are just bonuses.
It's REALLY about absorbing yourself in a role, and having fun fulfilling it...
Until you get this down, you'll never appreciate RS, or any game like it...
I walk around using "noble speech" and people are like "are you English?", "what?", "talk normal", etc etc...
They don't know why I'm saying what I say, and why I use the dialect I choose...
It's very sad...
Perhaps Jagex should make a section called "Role-Playing for Begginers"...
Then again, none of these people we've grown to dislike would read it...
Every day I see "How do I...", "How do you..."
All the whos, whats, wheres, whens, whys,
and hows that are CLEARLY posted in the manual, and some even ILLUSTRATED!
-rounds up questioners and puts them in an RPG concentration camp-
Learn it until you love it! Muahahah!!!
-turns back to audience-
Heh, sorry about that...where was I?
Oh yes, I remember...
Some of us aspire to be the best, as we should, but the best does not always mean best stats...

Many of us are "the best" because we know the Library of Varrock by heart, and/or have the max qp at any given time, or simply the fact that we *know* that RS is NOT "just" a game, an MMORPG, or "a place to meet people, hang out, and have fun..."
The key words are ROLE PLAYING!
The sooner those who do not know this finally learn it, the better it will be for us all...
Okay, I THINK I'm done...
If I come up with anything else, I'll be sure to post it here...
Also, perhaps you're wondering why I posted this in Clan Discussions.
Well, let's face it, there is more drama, more immaturity, and more anxiety here than the other forums...

-To all who have read the previous-
Whether you've just skimmed it, fully read it, agree, or disagree, post MATURELY, and keep this thread up as long as humanly possible.
SPREAD THE WORDS!

"ROLE-PLAYING!!!"

Nav, you asked for me on here a couple pages back?
Rsbian, Though identity may be masked to not cause grief or trouble, doesn't mean it won't raise questioning as to who you are.
It's apparent, however, that you may be somewhat new to this era of the RSB, but you've been here before.
Narrows it down to only a few people now, of who you may be. =p

The Phantom of the Opera is there...inside your mind =p
They may be the same, or may not be the same person, but if someone has watched another person long enough, they can take on the same characteristics, and seriously mess with people.

Sir Geistlos, I have not messed with anyone upon these boards, nor tried to fool anyone as to what I am doing here upon them for wuite some time now.
As for being accusatory, I have simply made an observation, and meant nothing along the lines of an insult.
My apologies, if it seemed that way.

Psh...the arrogance of some people these days makes me wish the old days were still here like they once were.
Arise to this thread, so that it may remind others of the good times, the accomplishments already made, and the ones to come!

My dear Jess...
Your arrogance is different then that of what I speak of.
You can speak with reason and know what you are speaking of, or to whom you are speaking to.
This sort of arrogance I speak of is simply someone missing their IQ and needing a brain cell to think off of.

Geistlos
23-Oct-2007 11:36:35
It would seem some dear Lady is in a dither and lashing out.
Does she harbour a brain cell to ponder off of, so as to come up with her reasoning of why?
Would it be she has been entitled with some right, gifted by the gods, to know what noone has any knowledge of?
Is everything a piece of some master plan?
In almost all situations adjunct to communicating in or on Runescape, one simply looks to the left to know who they are talking too.
I have a question regarding arrogance, should she be as prone to answer as the good Lady be to attack -
Is being a 'shrew' all it is cracked up to be?
XD
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear Geistlos, A "Shrew", I am not. When someone such as the person I was referring to messages you out of the blue to start a conversation, one tends to listen to the one communicating with them, then as general chat goes, the one listening would reply back.
However, given the situation that was at hand, the one that wanted me so dearly to listen, found arrogance at what I had to say; thinking that they had all the right answers and that nobody else could possibly grasp their ideas. Now, this is perfectly alright, everyone has their own opinion, but when the subject at hand has been around these boards probably longer than the person in question has been, and their idea is completely backwards and they tend to show no working knowledge of what they speak of, then blatantly call you a liar when you try to explain the correct history of the subject, therein the problem lies.
Anybody can talk to me, dear Geistlos, When I am ingame my chat is on, and anyone is welcome to message me. Everyone is also welcome upon my threads here, and I will answer as soon as I can in the kindest of regards, till one proves hostile. My intentions were not to be shrewed, merely showing agitation at someone's ignorance.
Have a nice day all!
Doing a little combat training myself ingame while wandering through the forums.
It appears that since the new updates, most clans are having problems with some of their events.
I've been upon these forums through all the updates, and I've seen them steadily decline ever since.
Many have quit RS for the sake of remembering the old days.
Tis sad to see such changes. I'm glad I can still get on RSC.
RS Classic is where you clicked to get everything, and you could catch a load of Lobbies in 3 minutes flat just by clicking.
It set the stage on what is known to be a good game, and to this day I must admit I like that version better.
However, my clan is both Rsc and RS2, so I play both.
As for online games, I rarely play any other game.
As for non-online games, I'm pretty good at almost anything out there.
(Little brothers tend to be competitive with their older sister when it comes to any gaming system, and game)
A Ray of Sunshine Fades from the RSB
Last Night, as I wandered through the lands of Runescape, a message flashed over my screen. It was one of greeting, but brought sorrowful news to my attention. This single message sent to me, jarred my entire being to the very core, of the horrible news that is quickly spreading across the rsb, and ingame. I know people will see this, and know of what news I speak of, and to who it involves. I know some mods will find it in themselves to want to hide this post after reading it, and warn me of rules that to myself tonight, will fall upon blind eyes.
You see, I learned tonight that a well-loved Forums Moderator upon this game, who once was one of the major rays of sunshine ever to grace these forums, has passed on to a place where the Sun will always shine.
There are few people here, that are considered the "Rays of Sunshine" of the RSB. This moderator, was one of the rare people within this group.
This Moderator would laugh with you, cry with you, post on your thread to cheer you up if you were having a bad day, and always, was optimistic. A great leader, an awesome friend, a determined fighter, and known to many for her kind and caring attitude, she leaves this place and the world with memories of fun times, happier days, and a love within the hearts of everyone here, that will never, fade away.
A person full of excitement, of hope, and of intense caring for this community, The memories of this dearly departed person will live on in all of us, for many, many years to come.
I hope, that what she has taught us, in the short time some of you may have known her, will spread, grow, and flourish, in loving memory of her, as she will never be forgotten upon these boards.
If some people are lost, and do not understand who is being spoken of, contact those who do know what I speak of.
In Loving Memory of the Dearly Departed,
-Rebel
People are really starting to tick me off on here.
These forums are going downhill so fast you can't even keep things that have lasted for *YEARS* on here, in honor of those past gone, alive.
I can tell you one thing....
That which is hidden here will thrive in other places for many, many *YEARS* to come.
The Logos to which I have spent *YEARS* keeping watch over, are no more.
If they meant that much to you tbh you should have saved them ;)
I'm a bit smarter than your average person.
Indeed, I have every *SINGLE* one of them saved.
They'll be kept safe from everyone where I'm re-posting them, and *NOBODY* from here that has any post hiding powers, or anything at all, can get to them =p
