As some of you may have already seen, quite a few Discord servers are warning users about phishing. Hijackers are now targeting discord users by sending false server invite links, which will prompt you to log into a fake website that is identical to Discord.

After gaining access they will then scan all messages for strings of text and numbers which are common in emails and passwords. People who are more at risk are people who account share.

Discord also uses your email address to log in, so it would be wise to use a different email that's associated with your RuneScape account as well as a different password, making sure you change passwords every so often.

If a hijacker manages to log into your email address with your discord log in credentials, they will simply submit a forgotten username request to find all of the accounts connected to your email, then submit a password recovery.

If a hijacker fails to gain access to your email, they will then proceed on social engineering anyone you have added, pretending to be you.

- Make sure you have 2FA enabled on your discord account: User settings > My account
- Make sure you have 2FA enabled on your email provider. (If you don't, your Authenticator will be useless.)
- Make sure your phishing filter is enabled in your browser settings
- Make sure you have Authenticator and a bank pin on your RuneScape account.
- Dont click any links unless you know and trust the person sending it to you
- Check invite links carefully before clicking them
- Delete any emails or passwords u may send to other users.
- Do not account share. (This should be obvious.)

Hijackers will always try and use things that are highly used by the RS community to lure in players, Discord is generally rather safe apart from the above.

Sounds like one should not use this discord internet thing if it's so dangerous.

As with any platform you can have an online presence with other people, we have the responsibility to protect our own safety and ensure our own security. In today's world, we are always potential targets of scams and dishonest schemes trying to steal our money or our data (which can be sold for money).

It's always something. These are great tips to help stay safe.
