It is, indeed, I!

I have not been on the game other than for a day or so at a time (less than a Week, total, for about 18 Months). Was busy with work, lots, then got engaged, then been busy with work and life. : )

I hope you've been keeping well, and that things have gone smoothly for you, during the interim. 'Tis good to see folks still around, and catch up a bit.

(I really should get my avatar back, it'd help with recognition, especially as I've not been a prolific poster, even when I have been about :p).

Hope everything is okay and happy holidays!! :)

Ahoi, fellow Orbsman!

Good to see you. :D

Everything is fine, thanks; and I hope likewise with you! : )

I'll be on a bit over the next Month or so, so perhaps we can meet up in game? o:

P.S. All GF cakes I've been fed were way too dry and/or the texture of a brick...
I tend to avoid the GF label, unless the food is already naturally GF -- like corn and lemonade lol

What about Wife label ones?

Nick, I hope you manage continue to keep in contact with friends (it's good that you've kept this up), whatever happens.

With regards finding the game fun.. I'm not sure there's much you can do, other than trying out some of the content you've not done (or maybe doing it in a novel way), and hoping that something among those things will give you some joy.

I can relate to the feeling, though, as I've recently spent a chunk of time away, too.. it gets to stressful playing these days, as most of my time is spent either in dread anticipation of the next update that damages a Minigame I love playing, or trying to persuade them not to do it/do something less harmful instead (which almost never works - and I've wasted time I could have been playing the Minigames; though Idk how much worse it might be, if not protesting).

It ends up with being able to get less and less benefit from playing, and more and more of a chore, just to do what was once so easy.

It's not that I don't enjoy other content, it's just that doing so is less possible, when I don't have Minigames to use as a mainstay.

Have you had a good few Years?

I think the only times I met you in game, were during a rock-glitch at Tears of Guthix, and some house party (I think it was a house party.. can remember being in what was either a PoH, or Legend's Guild, several Years earlier (I was on a different acc, back then, though)

Nope, but will watch it afterwards, as there's always an off-chance something I asked was used as a question, and an extremely slim chance that it was answered seriously.

do you use slayermusiq1's guides? and have you done mm2 yet? imo that was much worse than mep2

Can confirm that even as a low lvl, in no arm, having 99 Agil makes this a breeze.

D: Anything above 15 °C is uncomfortable, for me.. spent too long around cold-living folk, and in a house without heating.

Glad you're enjoying it, though, and I hope you manage to make the most of it (perhaps your problems sleeping are partly due to the heat? It can make sleeping difficult, if it keeps hot during the night).

Hopefully you'll manage to see it off-peak, though, as that'll still be pretty spectacular. : )

With regards your dress (please bear in mind that I'm bad at wording things, and do not intend any offence, or to imply anything bad - anything that appears to be rude is unintentional, and only appears so because I'm an idiot):
That could indicate you're lost weight, rather than shrunk in height; if you think of a table cloth on a table, and think of it hanging down about 10cm on every side, then make the table top a bit smaller (so that it's less big in circumference), the cloth will then hang down a bit further, as it's not being pushed out to the sides as far, so the cloth doesn't have to go out before it can go down.

While humans aren't as regularly shaped as a table, and losing weight isn't all done in one direction/from one place, all the little reductions add up, and this will show in the length of the clothing.

I know this is just going by that conclusion (and I may be understanding it incorrectly), but it sounds like you are doing well, and making good progress towards your goal; therefore will congratulate you, on this, and wish you well with future aims! :)

If you're exercising a lot, you may not lose much weight, even if you're losing fat, and getting slimmer; this is because you're growing muscle, so won't be shrinking as much as you'd expect, and this muscle weighs more than fat does, therefore you can be slimmer, but not weigh much less (or sometimes weigh more, in certain circumstances).

It's important not to lose heart - it really does sound like you're making progress, and have been enjoying doing some of the things, too.

Agreed! The old ones were/are amazing. :D
My brother was obsessed with sky moos, when we were little, but I loved the cloud/music trees, most.

One great thing about the Clangers, is that the Clangers themselves are dubbed into every language, in one recording! :p

NXT is better for some things (takes up fewer resources than Java, if you put it on minimum, turn ground blending off, and limit it to 5fps - but somehow still manages to cause overheat shutdowns after a few hours, while only using 23-25% of CPU, when programmes that use >85% of CPU can go for day, without any overheating problems), like AFK-skilling, and Questing, provided you have a stable connection.

Java is still better, for me, for Minigaming, intensive Skilling, and PvM, there's just no competition between the two, for these things, as the issues with NXT compound eachother:

• Handles disconnects and delays differently, and can show you as logged in for 10-15 minutes past when you actually dc'd, meaning you have to restart the client to get back to doing things.
• It has different timing for whether it registers clicks as on an object, or off it.
• The graphics settings make some things very obscured for some things, when on low settings, that are completely clear on low-setting Java.
• There is an even bigger delay whenever interacting with banks, and before clicks after any teleport will register - and no, this isn't just to do with the loading looking different.. this is when you have a tik counter taking accurate readings.
• It fails to show your accurate position, even without a delay.
• When you have connection problems, it has a far greater tendency to 'make things up' at the client-end (you can perform actions, that you can see having an effect, and can move about, but when you get a connection again, it rapidly rewinds them so you see them in reverse, and then plays about 1/4 of your actions forward again, but just random actions from any point during your dc', so that you end up in an entirely different place, and if PvMing, likely dead).

Some of these things can be familiarised, and coped with, but not when they are all together.. thus Java remains useful for me (despite it somehow using almost 2x as much as 18 Months ago).

About 296, I think..

They are new community mods, who are here to interact on the Forums (they will be getting the standard, Gold JMod accounts, once some of the technicalities have been ironed out).

They work for another company, that is being contracted by JAGEX. There used to be more of them, but it's been whittled down to 2 (whether that's simply the way that company works - letting all the free employees test the water in a community, and see which ones take to it, then give them the job slots.. or whether JAGEX started cutting back on the role, before it even got fully started, is unclear).

The community side requires a large number of people to do the event for 5 days.

Each day you will get 100 tools, for free.

They've based Community rewards around enough people using their 100 free tools. Not everyone will do that, but some will buy extras, or get them on Treasure Hunter, so it will likely balance out (it usually does).

The 1st day only expects you to do 20% completion (the 1st 100, out of the 500 total), but you're able to do more, if you don't think you will be online, on the other days, or if you wish to get the xp in the 2 skills that are available, today, or if you simply wish to get the whole thing out of the way - in which case, you can buy the extra tools.

Basically: Yes, you are contributing to the Community rewards, but only a minuscule amount - it requires a lot of people to use 500 tools (or fewer people using >500), in order to unlock them all.

If they drop salt water all over the place, it will cause even more problems with desertification (it may not be a problem, in those particular areas, just yet, but it is slowly advancing in that direction, and speeding it up wouldn't be massively helpful).

Working, replying to threads, and hoping to get some free time to Orb in, in a bit.

You're in for a surprise! You'll have to start practicing how to write your name in the snow now! ^_^

2 Things you must know about snow:

1) You're not allowed to tread on it (you have you pick it up, step, then put it back down).

2) You have to tidy it all up, before you go to bed.

(Snow isn't guaranteed in the U.K. - not in all areas, anyway.)

First time is the worst time.

My 1st time was when waiting at traffic lights, when up in Nottingham. A car decided it was going to pull up to wait along side me, in the same lane (which is against traffic regulations), and the person in the passenger seat decided they were going to get out of the car (also against regulations), and didn't seem to register that I was there, despite looking right at me.

They forced the door out into me, knocking me over, and trapping me under my bike, which became wedged underneath their door. They then proceeded to get out, stepping onto my back wheel, and giving me looks as if they thought I was deliberately being awkward, and getting in their way/ The driver then flamed me for scratching the bottom of their door, and told the passenger to hurry up and close it - which they couldn't; so despite my protests, they started edging the car forward, which made matters worse, and dragged me along, which started tearing up my leg..

Not a great experience, and someone else turned up offering to use their jack to lift the car - the driver refused this, and carried on, at which point a couple of other blokes turned up and started rocking the car to get it free (without asking, or anything - it worked, but wasn't pleasant).

After it was free, it drove off, and everyone dispersed, I was left trying to get out, with cars driving past way too close, with a fair few honking at me, or yelling unintelligible negatives (this was in a crowded place, and plenty of people walked by without offering any help).

It put me off riding my motorbike, for long journeys (though I still use a pedal-bicycle for them, sometimes), as it's a lot harder to deal with problems like that, if you've got a long way to travel, and are unable to ride (both bike and leg were not in fit state).

It was quite some time ago, and no permanent harm was done, so no worries : )

It was mostly the attitude, and the fact no one bothered trying to help, after the car had gone, that shocked, me. Certainly makes me more wary of cars that are next to me, when stationary, though - I had thought those were generally fine, until they started moving, again :p

Camera's are a must these days. Cheap really but well worth it.

Definitely, though this was about 10 Years ago, when there were still a few regulations that made it legally ambiguous, as to whether you were allowed to film without permission (those were cleared up in 2010), plus the tech wasn't as good/available, then, for a feasible price.

I would definitely recommend folks have a dashcam/mounted camera (but not in a spot that obstructs your view, either directly, or via reflection). If you have any interesting footage (or even banal stuff), I know several folks who are using traffic footage, in various fields, to do with road, and car safety, regulations, and autonomous vehicles - my Father has worked in such areas for quite a while, though is cutting back a lot, now (as he is 90, and a lot of his work has been EU-related, the last decade or so, since he stopped doing his previous work), so I have had folks pestering me for such stuff, in the past, and I'm sure they're still wishing for more.

Your bike would probably disagree. How long did you have to apologize to her for?

Well, it certainly took some time to get repaired.. luckily I have a friend who builds, and repairs bikes, so I had access to the right equipment, and cheap parts.

Very sad to hear of such an incident.. The reaction of other people can often be unfathomable, and sometimes very hurtful (especially if you are close to them). It tends to be that people who haven't experienced negative things first-hand have a very difficult time understanding exactly what situations put you through, and just how difficult they can be. Being stuck somewhere just further adds to it, and can compound any other issues (it also isn't that good for your own health, as you don't get enough interaction, and become more cut-off.. which even if you're a solitary person, who doesn't like mixing with others, can still cause you problems), and it makes any interactions you do have, that much more difficult, as you're always ending up feeling like people are being put out, whenever they see you, or help you (which tends to make you reduce contact, even more.. which makes it even harder).

I hope you're in a better situation, now; although losing someone is something that never goes away, and it's always different, for every person, but hopefully you are coping (I know the incident you mentioned wasn't that, but you mentioned he was late, so this part is in response to that).

Getting the right kind of gear of the type of bike you have, is difficult, too, as the wrong kind will be too restrictive, in the riding position for certain bikes. Getting gear if you're an unusual size, is also hard, and not just for bikes (it can be an absolute nightmare finding protective gear, if small, with it usually having to be custom-made, which makes the price exorbitant, even compared to 'normal-sized' custom gear, despite the reduction in material costs..).

Just a note, in case anyone else is looking for one, or for when you get round to replacing your's: The SHARP system does a fairly good job of testing and rating helmets (it's not perfect, but it's more rigorous than the standard 22.05, and can help you make an impartial assesment of the safety of helmets).

Glove-wise, I ended up with a pair Wifey's Sister made up, with some keprotec, and scop reinforcements, as she was making some for Wifey, anyway, and it was a good opportunity to get some that had a good fit.

Are you in Cambridge atm?

Do you have an IRD, or TFN?
Unfortunately, even if you were born in the UK, it's difficult to get your NI number, if you weren't present when they are usually issued.

Things that will work as proof of identity, for this, are limited.. for a list, it would be best to check for your Birth Certificate (or valid coppy), any card you may have for IRD/TFN - not sure if they still have those in physical form, these days, or your passport (though you're getting a passport, and that should work, as you seem to have found out, already - your current one may work, but could cause delays).
Take as many as you can, as having more than one strengthens your identity.

Given you didn't get your passport stamped, it's going to be really hard for you to provide proof of valid entrance into the country.. The official at Heathrow really should have known that, and issued you with a page (unless you got a stamp, but not an indefinite stay, one).

You'll need records of employment, as well, so make sure you have those to hand (records of payment will usually work for this, at a pinch).

Documentation of past travel may be difficult to obtain, if you've had more than one passport, in the past, as well.

I have a TFN, but they won't accept it.. :(

I managed to secure an NI interview/appointment in London on the 10th of Jan.... a lot later than I would've liked, but it's better than anything. I'm surprised you even need to have an interview for this... in Australia you call up and they give you one instantly.

I signed up to a GP last week as the bank said they'd accept a letter from them confirming my address. I picked up that letter today, immediately went to both banks, and both said "Sorry this isn't accepted"???????? I feel like I'm getting a different answer for every different person I talk to...

Strange.. they should accept TFN as a form of valid identity..

Glad you got an appointment scheduled - tbh, it can take Months, so you were quite lucky. :p

The difference with Aus, though, is that outside special circumstances, you have to have a job ligned up, and in a 'skilled' sector, before you can apply to live there (or did about 13 Years ago, when one of my friends was wishing to move there).

..and yeah.. the problem with different people having different info/requirements (or not knowing that something isn't accepted, thus recommending it), is rife, over here (it's actually better in a lot of places I've visited in Africa, lol).

And yes I'm in Cambridge at the moment. :P

It's really disappointing that so many things in the UK require you to send original copies through the mail to them, where they'll hold it for weeks.... hard for me considering I'd have no ID with me in case I need it lol.

I applied for a drivers licence here and paid the fee, then a letter came asking for my birth certificate and passport to be sent to them, yet I need those for the passport application lol.

Sad that Justice of the Peace stamped document copies aren't accepted, but I think I'll have to bite the dust and risk sending my originals in the mail after I find a countersigner, and hope that they're not lost/damaged.... >.<

I may be able to get one of my friends to countersign for you, depending on timing, and place (though most are leaving, on the 19th, or won't be going into the centre, after that).

I agree that it's a big worry, having the originals going all over the place (especially when you have experienced their disorganisation, in other areas).

Being able to work together is great, though! :D
(hopefully you find ways to spend more time, like that, as it makes a big difference to the amount of time you can spend together : ) ).

Thanks! : )

I hope things start to improve, for you, soon!

For future note: (though you likely already know) It's best to use running water, for burns, as that increases the water's ability to cool things - if you can't afford to run water that long (being on a meter), then using a bowl, and moving the burned bodypart around, slowly/changing its position, regularly, is a good idea - and change the water once it warms up.

It needs to be under/in water, for a minimum of 10 mins (I realise that's not always possible, with responsibilities - but that's for the individual to weigh up), preferably more - until the tissue has been completely cooled, which can take a while, for anything below the skin (our bodies are too efficient at retaining heat, in that circumstance).

Ice can cause problems with frost-burning, which can make the situation worse, so always prioritise cool water, if you have that option.

Unless severe, swelling is beneficial in most burns, in more rapidly, and more thoroughly triggering processes for nerve, and blood vescle repair (it's even more beneficial for bone breaks, and can substantially increase the strength of any regrown bone), so avoid taking anti-inflamatories, if possible (unless otherwise instructed by your Doctor - each individual's full situation is different).

Anyway, I wish you luck with a speedy recovery. : )

I remember you often, in relation to the Forums, and while I often saw you stick up for folks you saw wronged, it often appeared to make you very unhappy (likely just a symptom of irl things); it seems you are still continuing your positive efforts, but have managed to not be as weighed down by this, which is good to see. : )

I hope your happiness produces more of itself, in sustainable fashion, and you find it long-lasting. : )

P.S: I've only been lurking the last day, or so - before that it was likely another ghostly presence, unless I somehow left some of me behind, while I was away! :p
