I just traded in 227,300 "rune item tokens" that I received after coming back from a hiatus.

I assumed I could trade them in and get my rune items back, and that they had the same high alchemy value.....

I purchased 7567 rune platelegs with my tokens thinking I would make 279M based on their historic high alch value, giving me the best price per token worth.

They are valued at 16k grand exchange, BUT are not even selling. Their new high alch value is
1500.

I have worked on this Runescape account for 13.6 years, and have spent 316 realtime-days playing (HANS).

Please either show me how to return these platelegs into rune item tokens so that I can undo this mistake, or find a way for me to back track.

This has been DEVASTATING

Follow this link: https://runescape.fandom.com/wiki/Rune_equipment

and tell me your statement is justified

Additionally the wiki, which I read, does not say anything about high-alch value change. It only describes salvage alch value. It also describes that salvage is not-stackable - which is why I went with 7500 rune plate legs instead of the salvage route.

Another change, made in early October last year, is that Jagex decided to partner with the creators of the Wikia.

The result is a new, official wiki. Hover over the
Game Guide
button at the top of the forums, and you'll find a link.

Unfortunately, the old Wikia (which you reference) is now abandoned and outdated.

Last edit was in September 2018 - which obviously even predates the second M&S beta. Albeit that page doesn't even tell you anything about alch values, just their current GE ones.

There is nothing you could do about it except for trying to do the best with your rune stuff - upgrade them to +3 and try to sell them at the dxp weekend since players (especially f2p ones) will use it to make burial armour for xp. For the future check the new wiki out: https://runescape.wiki/w/Rune_equipment

You clearly didn't care to research anything regarding the item tokens, only wiki'ed the items you had prior to the update. That's where you went wrong, mate.

Firstly, the Fandom site is abandoned and no longer reliable.

Jagex now officially support the updated site at https://runescape.wiki
There was a lot of noise and news posts about this.

Secondly:

Your assumption was wrong, and if you'd read about the update you'd have known this.

So you read the wiki that basically told you to alch salvage, but bought unstackable platelegs instead of unstackable salvage, despite knowing (or having SO MUCH spam telling you about the M&S rework that you should have known) that rune equipment is now level 50 smithing and cheap, and that salvage had kept the original alch values and replaced it on drop tables...

Ah well, you learnt an expensive lesson.

So that's the core of the rework. Because rune is getting moved completely to level 50, we've had to lower its alch value or it would be ridiculous gold per hour. This would ruin a lot of drop tables, so we've gone through and replaced all smithable items with new items called ‘salvage’ which have the same alch value as what they replaced had pre-rework.

It was literally part of the newspost.
