I logged into game today after the update with the message...

"Your wishing well bush in Prifddinas has been removed and you have been awarded 2200xp"

I thought, i wonder why that happened

Checks patch notes... no mention of it.
Checks for official forum post... no mention of it.

What happened ? why was it removed ? why is there no official post about it ?

Hmm.. makes you wonder why they even have patch notes when they don't use them to inform us players about changes.

FFS yeah cos' jagex don't do knee jerk reactions.

They made no mention of this now or leading upto, so rather then fixing they just removed it? how professional.

Please remove the over the top notifications for mimic tokens, its a 10k item no-one wants, it doesn't need a message and loot beam.

From the (now updated) patch notes:

Due to the way in which the mechanics of the Wishing Well worked, it rapidly devalued the materials in which it was producing which had a negative feedback loop on the price of the items. The more items you got from the fruit, the cheaper they become which meant that you would get more of them. This was unsustainable and caused economy issues like being able to sell items from the fruit for more than the value assigned from the fruit. The market was flooded with those items and it caused a lot of critical design and balancing issues. Removing the Wishing Well seeds, which only held a value of 1gp, and the crop itself was the best solution to this - we may revisit mechanics like this in the future but that isn't a promise.

Planted wishing well bushes have been removed and XP awarded for any fully grown unchecked ones. Seeds have been removed and players have been reimbursed at a rate of 1gp per seed, while reimbursements for fruits matches the value put in.

What they doing about player owned farms then?

Completely devalued tree seeds, so what now?

And what about all the items that got devalued because of SOF/TH so by that logic they also need to remove TH :P

I was about the write the same thing, their arguments are weak, they treat us like we are stupid.

I mean god forbid rather than wasting so much time on the april fools joke, they could've rebalanced this content instead.

I mean their argument could be used for so much in this game, but to me, this is just laziness on their part.

There was also the first matter for them being disabled: calquat seeds crashed hard when PoF came out. To 1gp, in fact.

Wishing well fruits could award Calquat seeds.

Calquat seeds could still be sold to General Stores for around 100-200gp (IIRC, never knew exact).

Using this, you could turn 10m+ profit from a single Wishing Well fruit.

my wishing well bush seeds collection of over 110m wwb seeds removed by jagex feels to me like a crime. not only did i pay about 20 ea (on average per seed) for the seeds by myself when i bought them from other players, but it also took me high effort and several years to build up that collection. if i wished ever to sell them for 1 ea i could have done that by myself at geral store npc. jagex developers are just too lacy to modify and repair broken game content in a way that does not mean to destroy players' collection achievements.
