So, as anyone can see on today's news post, one of the prizes for the RuneScape survey is a big poster map of Gielinor... which shows a new continent to the west as well as a group of islands northeast of Daemonhiem.

Looks like 2019 will have a lot of new places to explore. :D

I mean it'd be interesting to see the differences between OSRS and RS3's Zeah, but IIRC, some jmod on Twitter said that the map isn't really a hint of something coming in the future, but rather just combining the maps of RS3 and OSRS (even though it's not fully combined) for now.

EDIT: And the fossil island is also displayed on the map as it is on OSRS, so again, the same thing as with Zeah above.

Jagex did not hint on any of these on the Future of Runescape survey. So, don't expect any new place to explore. In fact, last time they revealed they have actually been working on reworking existing maps, not new ones, to complete what the called the Unfinished Business.

OSRS actually only exists as an alternate reality of the RS3 Gielinor in its 5th Age. A lot of things in OSRS will not be easy to just copy and paste onto the RS3 Gielinor without ruining many RS3 game features and lore. For instance, Bob the cat died in the 5th Age Gielinor in OSRS but he is still alive and kicking in the 6th Age Gielinor. ;)

I recall them asking about zeah on the last years survey. People had no clue what it was then either.

Wonder if an osrs transplant would work since thats prolly a different setup with levels and content. Curious how they'd implement for rs3 and make people even care for it.

Since they keep pitching it they'll prolly do it eventually. I'd prefer they go east over west into the arc or do fossil island.

A 6th Age RS3 World Guardian going to A 7th Age RS9000 Gielinor will be easier to implement.

Temporal paradox will make Jagex thinking extremely hard in putting any feature from an antiquated version of Gielinor and the multiverse it belongs, to the current and future version of Gielinor. So it probably won't happen at all.

I would love to see a new continent, new monster of that particular area and new training spots, but in the survey they focus more on existing areas and expanding the lore I think. And you have to think about that some of the areas may become dead content too soon.

Doesn't rs3 lore basically invalidate most of the point of Zeah? Why have house rep grinding when menaphos already does that? Why have wintertodt when you can just do bonfires? Is there a point to adding the chambers of xeric when hexhunter bow already exists? Isn't the arceuus spellbook useless when teleports to all locations it has already exists?

Why would Menaphos having a reputation system disallow any other area of the game having one too?

Wintertodt isn't just about semi-afk firemaking training, it's also a skilling boss that makes decent money and gives other unique rewards.

Twisted bow would probably be more powerful than hexhunter.

The main purpose of the Arceuus spellbook is the cheaper prayer training, not the teleports.

I don't think OSRS Zeah would be a really good fit with RS3 lore.
Besides, we've still got several unfinished quest lines in RS3 to worry about (Desert Finale, Penguin, Gnome?, few others I'm probably forgetting). We also need our own Fossil/Kudos Island (doesn't need to be RS3). We've got the rest of the Wushanko Isles we can expand into and that could also knock off elements of Zeah.

I also have to agree with Jeremy Chang: The reputation system we had in Menaphos had a lot of backlash. To institute something similar again would turn off a lot of players (unless it only took like 2 hours to grind out a house cap, or players had a way to buy their way in).
