Anyone remember the Queen of Ashes? Is she still planned to make an appearance at some point, or has that whole plot thread been shelved indefinitely?

Wiki blurb;-
”The Queen of Ashes is a goddess first mentioned by V during the Hero's Welcome quest. V claims to have visited at least one world she was active on, and compares her to Bandos, Tuska and Xau-Tak. She took her title as the "Queen of Ashes" after ascending to glory, and most of her followers agree it suits her "radiant" power, even her enemies to an extent. Much like Tuska, the Queen of Ashes became aware of the planet Gielinor after Guthix's death and the shattering of the Edicts of Guthix.

Sometime during the Sixth Age, the Queen of Ashes became interested in the Lumbridge Crater, due to the 2015 Celebration of Fire event being held there. She had her pyradins use the fire energy generated by this event to send her herald, the Fallen Nihil, through the planes to emerge from the bonfire in the crater. The Queen of Ashes tasked the Fallen Nihil to spread word of her coming, and to bring back burning embers for study.”

The Fallen Nihil event was the last we heard anything about her, and it seemed likely that she would be making an appearance in the future.

I get that good things come to those who wait, just curious as to if it’s still going to happen at some point.

Final quote from the Fallen Nihil;-
"The Queen of Ashes rushes nothing, small one. She is biding her time and will arrive when she feels this world is ready."

First problem: dev resources
Jagex does add characters thru narrative a lot, and then it takes years to ever use them.
It took them 3 years to conclude the Sliske plot line with a number of quests and 3-4 "world events" (depending on how you count Cabbage Facepunch). Along with wasting dev on projects like Bringing Home the Bacon and the 2nd Evil Dave quest.
They are just now getting to the Dragonkin and Elder God story lines being advanced. The 2 remaining 'threats' to the player char's storyline.
So that it has been 4 years doesn't surprise me.

Second issue: she's aware of what is going on
As I said, we are now getting to the plot line where the player character is doing what they can to prove to the other Elder Gods that mortal life is worth something (besides food).
Even if the Elder Gods awakening once totally apparent to external forces before Desperate Times, Seren pretty much going public with the problem would have filled in that plot hole.
So the Queen of Ashes has learned that the most power entities are 'waking up' in the near future. And the odds of mortals convincing them they are worth keeping is slim.
The best course of action for her is to just sit back and wait to see what happens.
In canon, she has world(s) of her own. So she doesn't have to come here (or come back if she is really Elidinis). No sense risking anything.

Jagex in a way, nerfed the threat of Xau-tak.
That character was built up.
Then with the events of the 3 Elite Dungeons and Curse of the Black Stone, by defeating The Ambassador, Xau-Taks plans to invade Gielinor have been heavily set back (sort of like what happened to Bandos after The Chosen Commander ... he spent a lot of energy making the pendent for an avatar, it was destroyed, and it heavily weakened him.)

We can't be seeing Queen of Ashes now because when she comes and then dies, it will be the end of Gielinor.

"Mabus
(Queen of Ashes)
then soon will die; there will come
Of Man
(the World Guardian)
and Beast
(Tuska)
a horrible defeat.
Then suddenly one will see vengeance,
Hundred, hand,
(Xau-Tak, the Black Hand, The Hundred-Handed One)
thirst, hunger, when the comet runs."

To fullfill V's Prophecy, the three Antichrists Threats must come and die... with the Man World Guardian giving up his life attempting to save Gielinor in the process. :)

@ Deltaslug & Dilbert - That makes sense, although I don’t think she’d be the type to just sit back and wait. She’s potentially after something on Gielinor, why would she let the Elder Gods take it. Maybe the way we prove we’re worth sparing is by everyone teaming up & fending off the Queen of ashes.
Hoping she comes after the upcoming Dragonkin stuff to be honest.

@ Miu - There does seem to be some gaps / stuff that gets reworked later, but that’s pretty much the same with any games company.

I really hope we'll see the Queen at some point or that She would at least be mentioned...
Been waiting for another fire event since the Fallen Nihil. ;D

I for one think that She has not been idle and that her plans for Gielinor are actually already in motion, just in the background. I posted my theory on Lore forums a little while back.

She's not evil, just misunderstood. :) She'll bring us a glorius future! The seventh age, the Age of Enlightenment...
Fire burns through lies and illuminates darkness. It rains destruction upon enemies and brings warmth to friends.

The Queen of Ashes may probably be neither good nor evil, in the sense that Zaros is neither evil or good. Although the "Fallen" Nihil which follows the Queen now sounds "evil" because it was called "Fallen" Nihil, he is actually not fallen to the rank from good to evil... He is just "fallen" from Zaros' rank of neither good nor evil.

Neither are Tuska and Xau-Tak evil or good. They just go for what they want. It is known that Tuska came to Gielinor just for the anima. It is not yet known what Xau-Tak really want now except he has been shown busy manipulating different creatures on Gielinor.

None of V's Three Taints are evil or good. Neither was V evil or good.
